Fog with drizzle ....

8th September 2024 (Sunday)     08.00 .... It foggy and wet..... not a pretty tart to Sunday.   The

weather forecast is "light rain with a gentle breeze from the NE",.....  we should get a few sunny spells later in the afternoon.   I won't be havin morrrrrrrrrning coffee on the patio!

The village is quiet, which isn't surprising, considering the kind of weather it is;  but usually, at least a couple of joggers patter up (or down) Ferry Road regardless of the weather.   None of the Fife Weather cams look promising just now.... even the Lochgelly one which is furthest West.

20.30    I have just ... no, correction;  Alice and I have just spent 5 hours in company of Ian (Johnston), on holiday from Australia, that included a few hours with me: talking about Elie and Earlsferry, of the 1940's and the Polish soldiers stationed here.   We also had  walk round Chapel Green where Ian enthralled us, and a visitor out for a walk, with his memories of those days.   Unfortunately the drizzle increased in intensity so we went to Anstruther 'Chippy' for a fish supper lunch;  which we ate sitting on one of the Folly seats.   The drizzle wasn't bad at first but by the time we'd finished it was becoming a nuisance so we then headed back to Earlsferry.... then Ian went off to Colinsburgh, where he is staying for another day, before travelling around the Highlands.   Hopefully the weather is going to be kinder for the next couple of weeks.

Alice, Ian and a visitor at Chapel green
This has been a rally enjoyable day.... talking about Elie and Earlsferry (mostly Earlsferry) with a kindred spirit.   Ian's knowledge of Earlsferry, and the Polish soldiers stationed here is amazing;  he has visited Warsaw and visited the Museum dedicated to the Polish Soldiers stationed in the UK.   There is even a photograph of the plaque on the Ferry Town Hall on display, and loads of history of that time.   Ian is a fascinating gentleman who has been is some extraordinary situations, doing business in various countries of the World .   Iain's wife Margery accompanied him on most of his trips;  including behind the Iron Curtain in the really bad days.

22.30    It's going to be a bonnie day tomorrow ..... "sunny intervals with a moderate Westerly breeze".  I'm thinkin'  'morrrrrrrrning coffee' on the patio!    I'll have a quiet day pottering around Ivy.;  I might start painting  the bathroom window.
