Cloudy ....

19th September 2024 (Thursday)    08.15 .... Hmmmm .... it' s cloudy with a cold wind


this morning, but the weather forecast is reasonable;  "sunny intervals with an Easterly breeze".    It will be cool on the beach, or anywhere exposed to the wind.  I'm going to visit Alice and will be warm in the car!    We're going to visit one of Alice's friends who is in the Scoonie Care Home and care homes are always warm.  This is going to be a 'rest' day.

21.00     We had a lovely day after the sun broke through;  it was sunny and warm as long as you were out of the NE  wind.

As planned I went to Methil to visit Alice, had a a bit of Fruit Loaf that Alice had baked.  Alice is a goof baker but, like most bakers is always critical of her own baking.  Anyway the Fruit Loaf is very tasty.... and will disappear rapidly!
Having had our cuppa and scoffed a bit of Fruit Loaf, we then went to visit Irene in the Care Home before lunchtime.   Irene is a lovely lady, with a bonnie smile, and cheerful nature, was reading when we arrived.   Alice sorted out a few things that Irene needed sorted and we then chatted;  welll Irene and Alice chatted;  Alber (me), being a bashful boy sat and listened?   Not true:  people who know ne, know that I can't 'not speak'! .... so contributed to the conversation.  It was an enjoyable, and interesting  way to spend a hour and a bit.  Irene was a teacher and is a very interesting lady.

One of the Care Staff came to organise Irene's lunch, so Alice and I said our goodbye's and made our way to the car and onto 'Agenda' (Leven), where Alice treated me to a lunch.   For some reason 'Agenda' reminded me of the Craw's Nest.   It's a well organised place, and immaculately clean.   Just like the Craw's was.   We both had 'fish and chips' .... and a big glass o' orange.   We then went back to Alice's for coffee and a blether before I bumbled my way back home.   The remainder of the afternoon was spent 'resting'.
'Light cloud with a gentle breeze' (NNE) is tomorrow's forecast,   I'm till hoping for sunny spells, but they are not mentioned in the forecast.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
