Overcast with drizzle ....

20th September 2024 (Friday)    08.30 .... All the Fife weather cams are showing low cloud with

drizzle, but the sky should lighten up a bit and the drizzle fade away; the forecast is light cloud with a moderate ENE breeze.   Not a play day just now, but I'm feeling positive and thinkin'  of "sunny spells" later;  though the West is the place to be today.  Perth.... West Australia comes to mind!

12.00   The drizzle has stopped and there are brighter patches starting to appear in the sky; hopefully the sun will break through to give us some sunny spells. Jimmy (Jems) was right re the 'hurdy gurdy';  it takes the strain off the knee.... and the seat is useful.   I had a short sortie up to the phone box, and might have a longer 'walk' after lunch, even though it isn't a 'play' day.  

15.30    I didn't go out again with the hurdy gurdy;  the sunny spells that I was looking or never came so I did some 'ousework, including a washing that was in the machine.   The washing is unlikely to dry on the line, but it's out there anyway.   The 'plan' was to paint a bit of the shed but that's on hold until the sunny weather returns.... on Tuesday.    Even if the sun is 'shining bright' on Tuesday the shed won't be painted, because that's the day the car goes in for it's MOT.   


This has been one of those "can't be bothered" kind of days.  There's nothing that I want to watch on the tele so I've been working with my postcards;  they are always interesting;  and different.   Post cards are 'old fashioned' nowadays and it's good to drift back to the time before mobile phones .... and a slower way of living.   


19.38    The weather could have been bonnier but, I have had a productive day.   All the 'jobs'  I did were sittin' doon jobs... enjoyable and relaxing.   Looking through old post cards, backing up my 2024 photographs cards.... both of which involved browsing.  I'd say, in spite of the dull weather, that this has been a good day for me.   I even managed to do the ironing!   And I placed an online order which is being delivered tomorrow;  that means another restful day.   

Tomorrow's weather is going to be much the same as today's; overcast with drizzle.   In fact tomorrow morning could be  quite damp.   The West is the place to be.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
