The "Centre of the Universe" ....

15th February 2017 (Wednesday) ..... 21.30    We’ve had a gorgeous day at the Centre of the Universe.... in fact it was really warm, considering the time of

year.   Even when I was down on the beach early in the morning it wasn’t as cold as I’d expected it to be!     Although mostly overcast at that time the ‘auld place’ was looking bonnie ....  as ever! 

After breakfast I went to Sainsbury’s to get some supplies to fill up the freezer etc.    This turned out to be a successful mission as I found Sainsbury’s ‘Premium’ fish pies, which I’m hoping are of the same quality as the fish pies we had from Tesco’s in Uckfield.    I only bought one, to see how it compares, which will be tomorrow’s dinner.    Jimmy arrived right on cue .... the kettle came to the boil as he ‘moored’ up at the door.

Today was “Friendship Lunch” day, which always guarantees a pleasant hour eating and chatting.     William “T” came down from Colinsburgh so I caught up with all the ‘news’ from that corner of the Parish;   mostly ‘parking’ disagreements apparently.
I had an appointment at Pittenweem Surgery in the late afternoon;   apparently I’m “perfect in every way” so I came home feeling elated, rather than with my normal winter feeling of being ‘one degree under’!    Having said that, this hasn’t been a bad winter for me;  apart from having a a nasty ‘man cold’ over Christmas/ New Year.    Of course it’s really Janice I’ve got to thank for getting me up

to this high standard of ‘perfection’ .... and, the foodstuffs I bought today should help to keep me there.

Tomorrow I’m having my new ‘specs’ fitted... because they are vari-focals it needs an optician to fit them:   the ‘specs’ I have are seven years old, and well out of date according to the optician.    It’s that long since I had my eyes tested that I’ve forgotten what the new ‘specs’ look like. 

 The weather forecast is not that great for tomorrow;   windy and cloudy, with the chance of rain in the morning,... brighter , with sunny spells, in the afternoon.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I

Warm and damp ....

4th October 2023 (Wednesday)     08.00 .... there’s been light rain overnight and the forecast is ‘strong winds and rain’, but it’s not raining at the moment.... and it’s warm.   I think I’ll go for the paper (on the bike) before rain arrives.... the wind freshens.  Slight ‘flap on’. 09.30 .... Go out before the wind freshened?.... it was already F6 (at the Breakwater) when I was out.   Guess who didn’t go down to the harbour!   That said even at the Breakwater the wind was warm.   I didn’t stop at the Breakwater, in fact I couldn’t stop.... the wind blew me half way along South Street and I was up on The Terrace in ‘nae time’.     I managed to stop, at my usual place, and take a few photos before heading for the shelter of the High Street... and the ‘paper shop’.    The streets were quiet and I thought about going up to Chapel Green but decided give CG a miss today.....   and have drawing day. 22.45    My computer was  hacked this morning and I am going to use the wee laptop until Ia
