Nice sunrise ....

21st February 2017 (Tuesday) ... 09.30    It’s a bonnie morning, though slightly colder than it was yesterday, with less wind:  unfortunately the sky has begun

to cloud over in the past hour so it isn’t as bonnie as it was at sunrise time.    I had the beach to myself at that time, though Sally came down the road on her bike as I was walking down the Wynd.   

My ‘plan’ was to wash the lobby floors etc this morning but that ‘plan’ was made when the sun was shining.
22.00    By the time I got out for a walk the sky was overcast, the wind had risen and, although nice enough it wasn’t what I expected when watching the sun rising over the East Links, a few hours earlier.

I’ve had a busy enough day, having finally finally got all washing, and ironing finished, folded and away!    In fact I did a small washing this morning to ‘test’ my washing machine which has developed a glitch:   it does the wash phase fine, but then thinks the door is not properly closed and won’t do the rinse and spin until I switch it ‘off’ then back ‘on’ to do the rinse etc.   The machine is 6 years old, and the warranty, for parts, lasted for five years.    I then, being cynical,  got to thinking about  Volkswagen ‘misleading their customers’ with the ‘computer’ on their cars:  from there, it didn’t take me long to get round to thinking that, anything with a modern, computer style electronics on it, could be probably be ‘fixed’ to ‘break down’ just after the warranty expires!    In the case of my washing machine it’s probably just ‘needing the door catch fixed’.     The strange thing is Skipper’s washing machine (he had the same make of machine as I have) had the same fault!    The machine still works, all I have to do is set it to ‘rinse and spin’ after it “thinks” the door is open.    Me thinking that way just shows you how the mighty Volkswagen Company, has sown the seeds of suspicion regarding everyday things with

Tomorrow the plan is to take a brisk(ish) walk over towards West Bay beach then back home via the Chapel and the Ferry beach .... weather permitting of course.    The weather forecast for tomorrow isn’t bad;   for Thursday it is “bad bad”.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I

Warm and damp ....

4th October 2023 (Wednesday)     08.00 .... there’s been light rain overnight and the forecast is ‘strong winds and rain’, but it’s not raining at the moment.... and it’s warm.   I think I’ll go for the paper (on the bike) before rain arrives.... the wind freshens.  Slight ‘flap on’. 09.30 .... Go out before the wind freshened?.... it was already F6 (at the Breakwater) when I was out.   Guess who didn’t go down to the harbour!   That said even at the Breakwater the wind was warm.   I didn’t stop at the Breakwater, in fact I couldn’t stop.... the wind blew me half way along South Street and I was up on The Terrace in ‘nae time’.     I managed to stop, at my usual place, and take a few photos before heading for the shelter of the High Street... and the ‘paper shop’.    The streets were quiet and I thought about going up to Chapel Green but decided give CG a miss today.....   and have drawing day. 22.45    My computer was  hacked this morning and I am going to use the wee laptop until Ia
