Nice breezy morning .....


7th August 2016 (Sunday) ....  10.00     The wind that was forecast to ‘hit’ us today, is not going to happen until later tonight and through tomorrow.... so, we

have a ‘nae bad’ morning;   breezy, dry and mostly bright.    I’m feeling brighter today, .... so I must be over the change of air.    ‘M’ and I are going out in the afternoon, until then we are ‘resting’ .... well.... I am resting!




21.00     We’ve had a breezy day... and also a ‘one heavy shower’ day.    Jackie and Iain took ‘Jack’ (bearded collie) for his evening walk along the Buchan way at Auchnagatt, and got caught in a deluge;   apart from that one shower, it has been pleasantly warm, even in the wind.

‘M’ and I went to Inverurie Garden Centre in the morning, had lunch when we were there, then went on to Kintore to Mabel and Jimmy’s Diamond wedding celebratory

party.    It was really nice seeing ‘older’ faces that I knew, but it also reminded me that I too, am an ‘older face’ to others..... however chatting to ‘cousins’ soon dispelled any feeling of being ‘old’.    The Kintore Pipe Band marched in led, by one of Jimmy’s granddaughters, and entertained the company with some stirring tunes.....including “Maggie” ....  a poignant tune   for me at any time, but even more so today for some reason.

I decided to take the ‘scenic’ route back to Auchnagatt .... and actually got there (to Auchnagatt) without getting lost.   I had a look at the photos... then felt the need for a quick ‘50’, which lasted only 35 minutes;   I awoke feeling ‘bright as a button’ and

rarin’ to go.   

‘M’ made a cuppa and we were in mid gulp when Iain came through in a serious state of excitement:   he’d ‘caught’ a Snorlax.... an important “Pokemon Go” ‘thing;  I think.    We finished our tea..... and ate another chocolate biscuit in celebration.

The ‘plan’ for tomorrow, and the weather is amenable, is to go down to “Fitty” (Footdee), an old fishing village at the mouth of the River Dee, always a good place for photographs .... and probably more Pokemon ‘things’.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I

Warm and damp ....

4th October 2023 (Wednesday)     08.00 .... there’s been light rain overnight and the forecast is ‘strong winds and rain’, but it’s not raining at the moment.... and it’s warm.   I think I’ll go for the paper (on the bike) before rain arrives.... the wind freshens.  Slight ‘flap on’. 09.30 .... Go out before the wind freshened?.... it was already F6 (at the Breakwater) when I was out.   Guess who didn’t go down to the harbour!   That said even at the Breakwater the wind was warm.   I didn’t stop at the Breakwater, in fact I couldn’t stop.... the wind blew me half way along South Street and I was up on The Terrace in ‘nae time’.     I managed to stop, at my usual place, and take a few photos before heading for the shelter of the High Street... and the ‘paper shop’.    The streets were quiet and I thought about going up to Chapel Green but decided give CG a miss today.....   and have drawing day. 22.45    My computer was  hacked this morning and I am going to use the wee laptop until Ia
