Nice morning ....
10th August 2025 (Sunday) 09.30 .... Low tide is at 10.07 so there will be a big beach for
most of the afternoon. High tide is at 16.35. It's a lovely 'sunny with a moderate breeze' morning; actually there's a touch of autumn in the early morning air but will soon warm up. It will be hot in the afternoon. I have some small 'patio jobs' to finish, so that's going to keep me happy, until it's too hot to stay outside. I haven't been anywhere yet but might try to reach the seat at the 17th sometime today.
21.00 I've had a productive day; i.e. I finally managed to fit a handle onto 'The Buggies HQ' door. A job I've been meaning to do for about a week. At the moment I'm at the computer, and looking out at lovely rain clouds, that I hope are going to water the tubs. Light rain is forecast overnight.
I didn't get up to the seat 17th green in the morning, because I was making the handle for the buggy door. It's just a plain bit o' wood, but it had to be cut to size, sandpapered, screw holes bored in it, painted, and finally .... admired while having a cuppa outside. It's hard being 'me'.
Today's photographs are from my National Service days in Cyprus. Actually that was a really interesting and enjoyable two years! The main Limassol to Paphos passed through the GHQ MELF Episkopi Cantonment in those days.... and that's where the top photo was taken, on our way to the beach. There's a motorway that passes to the north of the cantonment now. (I'm the sunglasses peeking over the board). The one on the left is the Main Entrance to GHQ MELF. Our office (SMC), was inside a small secure communications compound, about 100 metres from the main gate. Where our office was, is now a car park for the communications staff that work there. Our office became obsolete when computers came in. It was an interesting place to work.
I've just noticed that the flower tubs are being watered as I type; the light rain is going to move away
by morning to give us another lovely, 'sunny with a moderate breeze day'; with a chance of a light shower in the afternoon. I'll was the bedding form the single bed tomorrow. Iain is coming down in three weeks so I have plenty time to get the bed made up.... and plenty pare bedding. You can see in the top and bottom photographs that it was hard doing National Service in Cyprus. Actually the hardest bit was getting from the top of the cliff down to the beach! Some of the cliff paths were tricky to negotiate.
