Breezy with showers ....

9th August 2025 (Saturday)     09.30 .... There are showers around just now, but they are forecast to move

away to leave us with a 'bright and breezy' day.   We've just had a light shower but I don't think we've had enough rain to water the tubs, though we might get another shower, or two, before they clear away to the SE.   The wind is going to freshen to 'quite frisky' level by midday; "strong winds and sunny intervals" being the forecast for KY9.   The wind will be 'very  frisky' around midday the start to moderate in the afternoon.

20.00    It has been a breezy day, but the showers missed us and the woollen wash I did, dried perfectly.   It was a good day for that.

I managed short walk up to the phone box.... but, it was too windy to go further.  I set off, planning to go as far as the seat at the 17th green.    The golf course was busy, and there was a lot of people out walking.   It has been a good day for walking.    Even though we had a cooling wind, it was too hot in the afternoon, so I stayed in and watched Dr Chivago.... a film I last watched with Maggie .   So that was 16 years ago at least.   It will be 16 years, on the 18th August, since Maggie died.    As expected I fell asleep, and missed more than an hour of the film.

The Royal Burgh of Earlsferry part of the combined villages is busy;  with few parking spaces for any day trippers coming to enjoy the beach and scenery.   I browsed some of my Chainwalk Folders this morning, then decided to check out my 'Chainwalk' page on the blog.   I've done the Chainwalk hundreds of times (yes hundreds) since 1951.  As a Colinsburgh  teenager we came down to Shell Bay in the summer, almost every decent evening to go swimming.  The plant life and geology has always interest me;  and I had my favourite for fishing off the rocks, round there.
Actually, reading the 'Chainwalk'  again (I haven't read it for a long time)  I was surprised, (and happy) to find that it felt like I was 'doing' it.   Anyway the link to the Alberto 'Chainwalk' page is above, if you feel like browsing your way round the 'Chainwalk'.
I've found out how to pick a single 'page' instead of a whole Google page of links:  this means I will use the 'new' thingy now and again.   Should make the blog more interesting.

21.15   I put the hearing aids in before I went out for my short walk, in case I met anyone to talk too.    I
saw David and Myra going down Ferry Road but they were in the car.   The wind was strong by this time and was seriously loud in the hearing aids, so I stayed out of the wind to get the photos.
Back at Ivy I decided to make a cuppa before looking at the photies I'd taken.   Well ....  my hearing, without the aids, must be really bad, because most times when in the kitchen, I never hear the phone!   I heard it today!   (I normally don't wear the aids at all at home but had forgotten to take the out after my walk).

Tomorrow weather for KY9 is going to be much the same as it was today;  but the next few days are going to be warmer;  in fact a mini heat wave down in Sunny Sussex.    I'm still taking it easy so will continue pottering around Ivy.   It's to be less windy tomorrow so I might make it up to the seat at the 17th.
