Nice morning .....
16th August 2025 (Saturday) 09.30 .... Cloud has drifted in from the North Sea overnight;
but the cloud should burn off to give us sunny spells .... and another warm day. It's 18C just now. There's only a light breeze off the East so, although nice enough, it's lacking 'fresh air'. I have only been as far as the patio, but might venture a wee bit further after morning coffee.12.15 The wind (Easterly) has freshened a wee bit, so there's a fresher feel to the air. I haven't done very much, other than hang out a washing; taking advantage of a perfect drying day.
I'm hungry and ready for a 'lite bite' lunch.
21.00 The temperature on the patio thermometer reached 24C this afternoon, not quite as warm as yesterday but still too hot for me being active. Anyway I stayed in and, the doorbell rang!.... to my surprise, there, 'stood staunin' on the doorstep was Alice. She had been at a loose end, with no projects to keep her occupied; so she louped on a bus.... no, she louped two buses; the second of which brought her to the Bus Stop at Elie school, from where she wandered across the wee course to Ivy Cottage. We had a cuppa, and a blether; before putting a couple of solar light gnomes on the patio; then sitting admiring our handiwork. Actually Alice did all the work; and somebody the gaffer thing! The 'admiring' of the work lasted the remainder of the after noon as we sat at the patio table with another cuppa. Alice, who can walk 'nae bother', then set off to walk across the wee course to the school Bus Stop to catch her bus. So ended what had been a surprisingly quick, and enjoyable afternoon.
After Alice left, I watched the 'Red Arrows' at Eastbourne, had a short catnap, then had another cuppa before bringing the washing. I plan to have my Horlicks at the patio table later this evening, to see all the solar lights lit up; and hopefully get a photograph. It's a nice sunny evening, though the sun is setting now, so the temperature is cooler, and more suitable for 'mature' persons sitting at patio tables all over Elie and Earlsferry. I'm now waiting for sunset: which event is at 20.47. It will be 21.15 before it's dark enough for the solar lights to switch 'on'. Maybe even later.
I have a'plan' for tomorrow: to get up early and go down to the harbour on 'The Buggy'... long before the streets get busy. The only problem might be early morning autumnal mist! I won't take 'The Buggy' out until any mist clears.
22.30 I tried taking a night shot photo of the patio, but it didn't come out very well. I'll set the big Canon up on tripod and do it properly sometime. Anyway, both gnomes lit up so that's fine.
The meeting between President Trump and President Putin in Alaska might not have brought a 'peace deal yet, but at least President Trump talks to President Putin, whereas the UK and the EU don't. It's all a bit childish really.
It will be interesting to see what comes out of the meeting between President Trump and PresidentZelensky in the Oval Office on Monday. President Zelensky will have had a few lessons in diplomacy since his first (disastrous) meeting in the Oval Office; so at least Monday's Oval Office meeting should be civil. And .... if President Zelensky speaks on behalf of Ukraine, and not Europe, the way to peace could come out of the Oval Office meeting.
It's strange how wars are 'no problem' to get going; while Peace is always hard work. Probable cause? .... not enough peace loving politicians around!
