Nice morning ....

14th August 2025 (Thursday)    08.00 .... There's a bit of mist just now, but that will burn off,

to give us another 'sunny, warm  and humid day' ..... with a chance of showers, perhaps thundery in the afternoon.   I slept well last night with only one break because of the heat, during which I read a my book.   I then slept through until 07.00.    I'm going to visit Alice, then go shopping in Leven, this morning.    A light 'flap on' now;  got the car windscreen washer thing to top up.

09.00    Squirters topped up, pills taken;  time for another cuppa before going to Methil.

It's a lovely morning, with a nice fresh breeze at the moment.   The thermometer is at 17.5C.   Off to make that cuppa.

16.00    Michael phoned to tell be that it's the Eastbourne Air Show this weekend (4 days including today).   Anyway I have just watched the Red Arrows live on You Tube and they were utterly amazing;  they always are.   We watched  the show from Beachy Head a few years ago, and this brought back happy memories of that day.   The You Tube presentation was filmed from Beachy Head so it was like being there again.  This takes care of the hot afternoons for the next three days.

Meanwhile, back on the hallowed ground of Elie and the Royal Burgh we have been lucky with the weather!    Thunderstorms aplenty to the north of us (the nearest lightning strikes being near St Andrews;  and, with a seriously dark and threatening sky up that way still.....the tubs might yet be watered!

22.00   The shopping trip went as planned: after which we had a cuppa at Alice's before to the Kirk Community Centre for an excellent lunch.   (Chicken Gujons with salad and chips).   Then back to Alice's to have coffee before I set off for home.

I arrive home about 13.45, put the messages away, and was asleep, in front of the TV, before 14.30.    I woke up 45 minutes later desperate for a cuppa.  After the cuppa (and a piece of Alice's homemade gingerbread) I decided to go up to the phone box, to get a few photos of thunderclouds that had appeared in the Northern sky.   I was thinking  by this time, that those lovely dark clouds could be the ones that were going to save me watering the flower tubs.   I took a few more photos then the camera battery went and I wasn't carrying a spare.

On my way back to Ivy Shona (Barnyards) caught me up.   She had been at Chapel Green on her bike.  I

offered her a mug of my renowned coffee which chance she took gladly.   (Obviously Shona hasn't heard of my reputation when it comes to making coffee).    We arrived at Ivy about three minutes before the first drops of rain fell.   Then the proper rain arrived accompanied by thunder and lightning.   The tubs were well watered this afternoon!

I got really lucky with the first first photo I took:  a lady, driving a beautiful Classic car (Morgan) came down Ferry Road as I was taking the first photograph.   I am one 'happy boy' (and a slightly tired one) tonight.
