Low cloud .....

14th May 2025 (Wednesday)     08.45 .... It's chilly with low cloud, with an Easterly breeze just

now: but the low cloud is showing signs of breaking up to give us the sunny day that's forecast.   However the Easterly breeze  means it will be cool on the East Coast.... with the chance of haar in the afternoon.    The place to be?.... inland from the East Coast.   The main 'mission' for me today is going to Anstruther to have my COVID booster jab.

12.30   I've been for the paper taken a few photographs, visited Harbour House to see how everyone was.   Brenda's hair is a nice shade of red!.... both girls (Brenda and Laura) looking lovely; and Laura was trying to do stuff on the phone, while someone was chattering away in the background.... foreground.   Naughty boy!   I didn't have a coffee as I'd had one before going out.   

20.30    There were a few folk from Elie and Earlsferry at Anstruther for the COVID booster this afternoon:  the 10 minutes we had to sit after the jab (if you were driving), I spent chatting  to Elaine and David.   That meant I was in the hall for 15 minutes.   Being a beautiful day I came home by way of the Kellie Castle and Arncroach road.   I was back at Ivy about 15.15;  a braw time for an afternoon coffee.   Since then I have had dinner, watered the tubs, fed the Blob and Blackie families.   The jab hasn't had any side effects so far, though I feel tired,   But I have been a busy boy.

It's a lovely sunny evening, but there is a chilly breeze, which prevents me from going out biking.  Actually this has been a bonnier day than yesterday;  we didn't have the haar in the afternoon.   I had my afternoon coffee at the patio table.

I'm  putting another photo of Mabel and Lucy up today, because Myra just told me that it is 

Mabel's funeral tomorrow.   (I thought Lorraine said it was was last Thursday).  I won't be able to go tomorrow as I am taking Alice to Dysart for lunch on her 80th ... oops ... birthday.  

I'll bike up to Kinneuchar and pay my respects in the next day or so.  My parents, and many of Maggie's relations are buried there, including Jimmy and Skipper.   I often have a wander round the cemetery, having a reminiscing session.  Strange thing is I feel 'relaxed' when doing that.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and f...

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

Nice morning .....

4th January 2024 (Saturday)    09.15 .... The car windscreens is clear, the washing I left out Shona huggin' a huge Kilbrackmont tree! overnight is flapping about in the breeze, and my breathing easier.   The sky is mostly cloudy just now, but our weather forecast for today is "sunny intervals with a gentle breeze".    There's a Yellow Warning for snow active from midnight tonight through to midday on Monday;  though I imagine it will more likely be sleet, or rain,  for us.   'Sunny Sussex' and most of the South of England is covered by an Amber Warning for snow today, so most of the UK is likely to see snow at some point over the next few days. 20.00    Although not the best of drying days the washing was nearly dry by the end of the afternoon.   Earlier in the afternoon I'd gone to Methil to annoy Alice.  We had a cuppa before going shopping.  We went to Sainsbury's they have 'everything' and are trying ...
