Bright and breezy ....
25th May 2025 (Sunday) 08.15 ....There's a frisky wind (F4 - 5 NW) and wind chill this morning,
but reasonably warm when the sun isn't behind a cloud. I don't think the bike will be out until later in the afternoon; if at all. My morning began with a migraine, which is a bit of a bummer, because it's a nice morning to out with the camera: the pills, that I have just taken, should have me 'playful' by lunchtime. It's a good drying day. so I'll do a washing.... and have numerous cuppas.13.45 You can see the 'Glenfuir' Union Flag is flying at full stretch, so it's windy; F5 - 6 in fact. And it's cold. I'm having a cuppa and intend going to go up to Balcarres in the car; but that depends on how I feel after the cuppa. I'm trying to shake off the migraine; actually, I'll take another couple o' pills and go to Balcarres later. Probably in the early evening. The washing will be dry so I'm going to take that in after this update.
13.55 Oops; the washing I said would be dry isn't now (dry i.e.); we've just been caught by the edge of a heavy shower. There's blue sky following so I'll leave the washing out, and keep a weather eye open for heavy showers. I need another cuppa.
20.00 I eventually went up to Balcarres in the middle of the afternoon ..... after I'd brought in the washing! When I got there, I had a short walk round part of the Woodland walk, but I was happy enough with that. The trees and shrubs are all looking braw, with different shades of green all around. And I had it all to myself; apart from a few birds, which I heard but didn't see. It was all very relaxing. I could hear the wind moving across the tree tops, but it was calm, and warm, where I was.
I didn't have my afternoon coffee out on the patio, because the wind was annoying .... and cold. I sorted out some of today's photographs after dinner; and will do the remainder tomorrow. Of course the Bank Holiday is tomorrow and the villages still busy, so I'll lie low. "Strong winds (SW) and rain is the forecast" for Monday; I don't know if the 'rain' part of the forecast is squally showers mixed with sunny spells, or longer spells of rain. I won't be getting the bike out anyway, because of the wind.
22.30 The wind we've had today has quietened down a wee bit, and another shower has just rattled across. I didn't to water the tubs have to water the tubs this evening, and it looks like I won't have to water them tomorrow either.
I don't have a plan for tomorrow, so I'll potter around Ivy, watch the 'News', and do the ironing. The
News from the Middle East is horrendous .... and has been since October 7th 2023 (and long before) .... but the lady Doctor that had 9 of her 10 children killed, and her husband badly injured in Khan Younis the other day, will stand out forever as an example of how civilians are seemingly regarded as 'collateral damage' in times of war. "Man's inhumanity to man make countless thousands mourn" .... (from the poem 'Man was made to mourn' by Robert Burns).
