Nice, damp morning ....

Image
21st May 2026 (Thursday)     09.00 ....  It's a lovely damp morning.   Lovely? .... yes, because the  pollen count  will be low.   Actually that's a bit of a bummer because I took an anti-histamine tablet that I didn't need to take!     Anyway I had a brilliant night of totally unbroken sleep last night;  that's one thing about the booster jab;  always get a few good sleeps!      I'l have another cuppa before going into 'action'. 15.30    The weather has been mixed, with some heavy rain in the morning, and sunny intervals in the afternoon.    Me?.... I decided to go to 'The Store'  to do a shopping for the long weekend.    Monday is the holiday, but the weekend will be busy... and stressful.   When I left to go to Anstruther the rain was light, but I drove into heavy rain at St Minnins... and had that all the way to 'The Store.   However I was...

20th May 2026 (Wednesday)      09.30 .... It's a nice, quiet morning here at KY9, a nice morning for being 'out and about'.    And joggers have been out enjoying the early morning peace, pattering sown, and up, Ferry Road.    Me? .... I'm ready to got for my booster jab;   I'm wondering if I should go to The Store first, and do some shopping..   This is a holiday weekend. 16.00    That's the COVID seen off for another six months;  and this was the fastest I have ever been 'done'..   I son't think I was in the building 5 minutes.    And that's going at the speed I move at!  I met Dave (Leitch) and Anna (from Elie) on the way out.   I gave Dave a run home, Anna was going to The Store.   I'd found out that this is another  Monday holiday weekend, so not quite as stressful as the Friday and Monday Holiday weekends.   The only hold up, was  the temporary traf...

19th May 2026 (Tuesday)     09.30 .... It's a nice morning with light rain just now;   therefore a low pollen count, and, more importantly the flower tubs have been watered!    I'm a 'happy boy'.   Actually we could have thundery showers in the afternoon, perhaps even thunder, so O won't have to water the tubs for a couple of days.   I'm even happier now than I was a couple of minutes ago!    Off to have a, celebratory, early morning coffee.   The sun is breaking through so I'll have morning coffee in The Hutte. 15.15    I've had a busy day!    What have I been doing?.... Re-applying for my Blue Badge, and by the time I did all the bits ans pieces necessary it takes a while.    At least it does nowadays!  I had to take photographs  for ID, address, .... and the photograph for the badge!   The last took the longest because I had to comb my hair;  something I r...

18th May 2026 (Monday)      09.30 ,,,, At the moment, it's a peaceful kind of morning in KY9;   A layer of cloud has moved  over us in the past hour on a light SE breeze.... and  'light rain showers' are forecast,  which the flower tubs would appreciate!  Actually I'm going to water the tubs after this update;  I meant to do it last night.    Ferry Rod is starting to get busy;  a couple of joggers just pattered their way past. 16.45    I've been lucky;  one of the showers that have been around this afternoon, came our way and watered the tubs;  but not enough so I'll have to do that again later this evening.    It has been a nice day, and reasonably warm in spite of the breeze being from the Southeast.   (Not my favourite wind direction).   I did some research on the computer, but never went out on the bike or buggy.   The wind has freshened in the last hour, and...

17th May 2026 (Sunday)     08.45 .... We have a nice morning, but a mix of light showers and Courtesy 'Countryfile' BBC 2. sunny spells is the weather forecast.   I have shower towels going through the machine at the moment;  I counting on the light showers being really light or, hopefully, non existent!     I haven't been outside yet but it looks like it will be warm when out of the wind and the clouds are somewhere else!     20.30     Most of today we've had lovely, warm, sunshine;  but it has clouded over in the last couple of hours.    We had some gig shower clouds, but the showers missed us, and, when I got back fro Leven the washing was bone dry.   After an early morning coffee, I decided to go to Methil to visit Alice, then do some shopping when along there.   That is what we did after a cuppa at Alice HQ.    Alice reminded me that the cleaning up of the River L...

16th May 2026 (Saturday)     09.15 .....  It's a nice morning, with light cloud and long sunny intervals just now.    It is warm in the sun, but cool out in the open.   This is going to be another rest day;  but, and this is good weather news;  a change of wind direction is coming, bringing warmer air our way.  I'm hoping it's a long spell of warmer weather;  not a 'hot snap'.   Off to put the kettle 'on' and have morning coffee in The Hutte.  15.45    It has been a lovely, sunny and war, day.   That said, the breeze has freshened do there's a bit of wind chill to contend with;  especially on the beach.   I was thinking of getting The Buggy out Ferry Road has been busy, and the chill breeze put me off that idea. I did go out in the car in the morning;  only to the parking place i use at the junction of the Kinneuchar Station road and the Elie road.   I noticed a l...

15th May 2026 (Friday)      09.39 .... We have a mix of shower clouds and sunny spells this morning;  and there's a brisk Northwesterly wind so it will be cold on the golf course and beach!    It's 9.6C on the patio thermometer.    I'm going to 'work' in The Hutte, and potter around Ivy today because it's too cold to go 'out and about'.   Ferry Road has been busy this morning;  having said that a car went past just now, and it was silent.   It must have been on battery power.   Off to put the kettle 'on'! 15.00    I fancied a wander to Nana's Seat, but only went as far as Ferry Corner, because it was too cold.   I thought the wind had moderated;  it had, but obviously not by very much.   I might o for a run in the car in the evening.    At the moment we have a batch of heavy looking clouds drifting over, but I don'tb think we'll get rain!    In the meantime, ...

14th May 2026 (Thursday)     09.45 .... It's nice, fresh morning, with a mix of clouds and sunny spells;  the wind is from the NNW do it isn't warm out in the open.   It will be cosy in The Hutte!    There was a strong smell of 'kippers' in the  this morning;  I assume it was coming from the smoke house in St Minnins..  This was early in the morning when the breeze was lighter with East in it. It seems like the Labour Party MP's are determined to have a Leadership contest.    Floundering around looking for a new leader is plain daft;  give the present Leader, and his team, the five years that they deserve after the  2024 Election victory!   Anyway, do any of of the 'Leadership' contenders have the qualities needed to lead the country? ..... or represent us at the International Table?   I think the MP's should think again, because they are getting close to the cliff edge! 13.30    The...

13th May 2026 (Wednesday)     10.00 .... We have a bright morning, with a lot of sunny spells  between  the clouds, that are scuttling over of a brisk NNE wind.   It's good drying wind so I hung out a small washing:   it's not as cold as I expected it to be in the garden.    I imagine it will be chilly on the beach.   This will be a 'rest day' for me, after the excitement of the past few days. 20.00    It has been a good say for watching the television;   which was lucky for me because, with the wind being from the North and cold, I have to stay in and warm.  I did have a short walk down to Ferry Corner between  showers in the afternoon, and had a spell in The Hutte, but I didn't go 'out and about'. WE had the King's Speech in the House of Lords in the late morning, so that was interesting;  and, with the pomp and Ceremony that goes with it also very colourful.   In the meantime...

12th May 2026  (Tuesday)     16.15 .... Although, breezy (NW) with a few showers, it has been a lovely, mostly sunny day; and it hasn't been cold.    I went to Methil as planned, dropping into Alice's HQ to have morning coffee before going to Methil Library Library to have my hearing aids 'services'.   The servicing is done by hearing aid wearers, that have been  taught how to do the servicing.    In fact the gentleman at the table was having his hearing aid serviced by a trainee.    I was next in the,  and, (after filling in a form) all that I had to have done was have mew tubes that connect the aid(s) to the ear mould(s) replaced;  they harden and become inflexible and have to be replace approximately every 4 months. By the way Methil Library is a  lovely, Art Deco building, on Wellesley Road.   I'll take a few photographs (of the outside) the next time I'm along there. Alice and I then went bac...

11th May 2026 (Monday)     09.00 .... The first thing that hit me when I went outside this morning was the chilly NW breeze;  there's a wintry feel to it.   The sun occasionally finds a hole, in the broken cloud, to brighten things up,    But not often enough.    Me? ..... I'm going to tun round then 'man cave' with the hoover:  and give things a flick wi' the feather duster.   After I've had another cuppa!    The Hutte should be cosy in a wee while so I'll go out there and ponder.   Pondering is good.   One of the sunny spells has come over;  what a difference that makes.    In weather terms you wouldn't describe President Trump as a 'sunny spell'!     He's more like the dull, overcast ,damp and depressing  weather we get around the year's end.    17.00    Colin and Sue arrived (on their bikes) t 14.00, and we've had a great catch up with...

10th May 2026 (Sunday)     09.00 .... It's a lovely sunny morning, with hardly any breeze;  what wind there is is from the Westerly direction, and warm in the sun.   However, if the wind freshens it could be chilly.   Ferry Road has been quiet so far;  I haven't seen a single jogger pass the window this morning.     19.45    It has been a lovely, sunny and warm, day;  but it has clouded over in the past hour or so.   A band of rain is going to pass over us overnight;  which is handy when it comes to watering the tubs.    I've had a lazy day:  playing with the new hoover  was tiring 'work'.... as I found out today.   Anyway I know how to  put it together now, and I enjoyed using it once it was operational.    My morning started with a migraine, so most of 'today' has been spent resting in The Hutte;  the only 'work'  was watering the tubs, and ...

9th May 2026 (Saturday)     09.45 .... We have a cloudy sky with light drizzle now and again. and a moderate, cold, Northeasterly wind.   However there's a low pollen count so as far as I'm concerned it's a lovely morning:   And, we should have sunny spells by morning coffee time (11.00).    Me? .... I'm staying in and warm;  waiting for the sun to break through and warm up the Hutte, so that I can go out to 'work'. 16.30   I've been a busy boy today.    The cloud broke up around lunch time so I went out to the Hutte to 'work'.    However it wasn't warm enough so I came back in and ended up 'playing' with the new Hoover.   I wanted to try out the accessories!     The first thing I did was read the 'rools'.    That was a mistake, because the graphics missed out some of the bits I wanted to look at.   "Forget the 'rools' , says Alberto to himself, "take the 'hit or ...

8th May 2026 (Friday)    "Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Attenborough".       10.15   It's a nice morning, mostly light cloud, but we do get short spells of sunshine now and again.    At  the moment the breeze is light and from the SW, but is forecast to veer to the North later in the afternoon.   It's nit as warm as I'd like it to be.    I have a blood test  at 11.40;  that will be my only outside mission today.   And I must remember to stop at the Chemist on the way home.   'Slight Flap on' now;  need to have morning coffee. 15.00    It's a bonnie, sunny day... and it's warm.    I've had my blood taken, and then went out to Woodhaven Car Park to get  a few photies.    Ir was busy with people doing the Coastal Path;  and others having a daunder round the east links.   Loads of people to chat too. On the way home I remembere...

7th May 2026 (Thursday)      09.15 ....  It';s a nice morning but there's a chilly SW breeze;  and a chance of light showers.    In spite of the threat of showers, I'm going to hang out a washing, and hope that they miss us.  I don't think I'll be be going far today, because of the cold air, but I have to go up to Elie  in the afternoon, to pick up my prescription.  19.00     The weather has been kind for my washing day;  only one, short, light shower and that began just as I was taking the last towel off the line.    It was actually warm  in the sun in the morning; but was colder in the afternoon. I didn't go up to Elie in the afternoon;  I have an appointment for a blood test at the surgery tomorrow morning do I'll  pick up my prescription on the way.   With it being a warmer morning than expected, I was tempted to go out on The Buggy, but decided it would be better to stay out of ...

6th May 2026 (Wednesday)     10.30 .... I've been 'up and runni  ... er blundering around, since 07.00 this morning, so back to my normal getting up time .... almost.   We have a lovely, sunny, and breezy, morning;  the breeze id from the NNE  so it's chilly.   That means I'm, more or less, confined to Ivy (mostly 'The Hutte') because of the wind.  This is the Elie Friendship Lunch day, and Myra offered to pick me up at 12.30, and  take me along to the Kirk Hall:  but the cold snap has upset the auld tubes again, so I'm going to  have to miss out... again.   And this will probably be the last Elie Friendship  Lunch before the Summer 'recess'.   Pity about that.    16.30    We've had a lovely Spring day at KY9, but it is chilly out in the open.   I was sorely tempted to go out on 'The Buggy';  got it out of it's hut, but when I went to put out the ramp, I fo...

5th May 2026 (Tuesday)      11.00 .... when I woke up, I thought the clock was at 07.45;  I looked again .... it was at 08.45!   Oops .... I'd certainly  had a good night's sleep.  Result;   'Immediate Flap on' at Ivy!   I'm now 'operational';  having showered (and that was hot), had my porridge (with sultanas) and caught up with the News.   It's now 'morning coffee time!    After that the 'plan' is to go to Elie and hand in my prescription.    So far I have only been as far as the gate;  and can tell you that the air is cool!  Oh ... and Ferry Road is quiet! 19.15    There has been a chilly Northerly wind today, and not a great deal of sunshine.    Anyway, I went to Elie and handed in my prescription;  and the High Street was busy, so I didn't hang around.   I decided to to home by way of Abercrombie and Colinsburgh.   I changed my mind ...
