Nice morning ....

14th August 2026 (Friday)     10.15 .... We have a 'bright and breezy' morning here at KY9;  but there's a dark cloud coming over from the West, so the 'bright' is not going to last much longer:  but it's only a big cloud, so it will pass over us.   At the moment the temperature is 20C. I've been busy with a phone call from a lassie at the Community Alarm Office;  and someone will be coming out to deal with that.   And the  lassie said that she would get the OT (Occupational Therapy) Team phone me, to arrange a visit.    Looks like there will be plenty folk to talk to.

13th August 2026 (Thursday)     10.00 .... It's hot already, and is to be hot all day;  so I won't be going very far from Ivy.   I'm going to hang out a small washing, and open up The Hutte;   then have morning coffee.  I might sit in The Hutte, but suspect that it will be too hot.   Iain is coming down tomorrow, for the weekend, and we're going to organise things;  for when I'm 'auld'.  Such as the Community Alarm.    That reminds me;  I'm going to put the mobile on charge. 14.30     It's uncomfortably hot and humid just now;  25.4C on the thermometer.    That's definitely in the shade, because the sun is behind clouds.   I was out checking how the washing was doing and it's nearly dry.   I'll bring it in about 16.00.... after this oppressive heat drops a few degrees.   I've got the fan on beside me;  and a glass of cold water.    T...

My favourite view of Ferry Corner. 12th August 2026 (Wednesday)      10.15 .... It's already warm out, so it's going to be hot this afternoon:  a lovely day for the beach... or golf course.    Me? ..... I'll potter around Ivy.    I've taken the pills, so now ready to 'work';  work on the computer, because it will be too hot for me outside.   I've been as far as the gate, and will open The Hutte up after this update;  but won't be sitting in there very long!  13.45     I've been a busy boy on the computer:  dealt with a couple of official emails, and had a browse in the Alberto Archive.    I'm now going to have something to eat. 20.00    It has been too hot for me today;  I opened up The Hutte but never spent any time sitting out there.   That reminds I must remember to close The Hutte door after this update. 'Then'. I've had someone trying to get me on the mobile phon...

11th  August 2026 (Tuesday)      09.45 .... It's a lovely morning;  there's a bit of light cloud about with loads of sunny intervals.   Perfect weather for the beach.   I'm planning on having a 'rest' day;  then I remembered the last time I was on Prednisolone Tablets!   That time (10 years ago), I took them with my evening meal.    Later on in the evening I decided to 'Spring' clean the bookcases.    I began to do that at 21.00,  enjoying myself so much that I kept going until after 03.00 next morning.   My cousin Jimmy up in Aberdeenshire was on them at the dame time, and he also couldn't stop working!   So I'm taking them (the pills)  at breakfast time.  If I do go into 'work mode', I don't think I'll be tackling the book cases!   With this pill,  'Work Mode' starts on Day two. 20.30   I've had a quirt, relaxing day.   Alice came alon...

Elie 10th August 2026 (Monday .... At last I've got round to updating The Hutte;  after an eventful night;  and  things to do this morning, because of the eventful night.     Anyway, I called out the Para Medics, in the middle of the night, because I had a really bad breathing event,  when I went for a 'pee' at 01.00.    And I didn't have my Blue Inhaler with me!  Having this 'bug' and asthma is not a good combination when it comes to the breathing tubes.  I went back to bed thinking it would calm  but it didn't so I eventually  dialled '999' about 02.00!    Three lady NHS Para Medics (from Glenrothes) arrived about 02.30:  and they were absolutely brilliant   Not only did they arrive much sooner than I expected, but they gave me a really good check over.   The result of all this is that I have an appointment with Dr Miller at Elie Surgery this afternoon.    I'm going to have ...

Light rain .....

Image
9th August 2026 (Sunday)     09.15 .... We have light rain on a moderate Westerly breeze;  but the overcast sky has pale bits in it;    we could have brighter afternoon.     At the moment it's dull and wet!    But the 'wet' didn't bother the two joggers that went down Ferry Road a wee while ago.   I might have a wee run in the car later.   20.15    The  rain  had moved away by mid morning, but the cloud stayed around  until early afternoon.    Since then we've had sunny spells with a moderate breeze.    It's a lovely evening now, but  was busy doing a hard Soduko. A lot of my time this morning was taken up making 'Mince and Tatties':  that was dinner for tonight, and will be tomorrow.    I might freeze one meal. A few minutes ago, I accidentally elbowed the 'mouse' off it's pad, and went to pick it up.    I couldn't see it:   i...

Light cloud ....

8th August 2026 (Saturday)      10.30 .... There's a lot of light cloud;  but there are patches of blue sky, so we should have sunny spells.    The air feels cooler to me, but that's probably because the sun is behind the cloud at the moment.    I'm going to be lying low again;  hoping that the sun does break through, so that I can spend time in The Hutte.   I got up at my usual time this morning, but haven't actually been outside.   I'll have morning, in The Hutte, coffee after this update. 17.00    It has been a mostly overcast kind of day;  we did have a sunny spell  around lunchtime, and that brought out some Large White butterfly's  but it was too windy to photographs them.    I've been 'resting' in The Hutte most of the time, doing Soduko's.   It was warm when the sun was out, but it turns much cooler when the sun disappeared again;   so I have abandoned be...

7th August 2026 (Friday)     10.30 .... Oops .... I 'slept in' this morning, waking, and getting out of bed  up at 08.45.   I'm feeling almost  'bright eyed and bushy tailed';  compared to what I have been like, for the past couple of days.   Anyway, it's a bonnie morning here in KY9.... a good drying day, for the downie cover that is going through the washing machine as I type.    20.00    I have a bit of Buddleia growing on the front wall, normally I have cut it back as soon as it gets going, but this year I haven't been able to do that;  anyway (more about 'anyway' later) I'm glad that I didn't prune ir.... it was living up to it's name thus afternoon ... the Butterfly Bush!    At one point it had three Painted Lady's, a Peacock, and a Red Admiral feeding on the flowers.       It was too windy to get a decent photograph of them on the bush, but I got one of a Painted Lady, baskin...

Light cloud .....

6th August 2026 (Thursday)     09.15 .... I expected a brighter start to the morning.   We have a grey sky just now, and all the Fife Weather cams have a cloudy, but there are a few brighter patches, so we might get 'sunny spells' later.     Me? ...... I've reached the conclusion that this is a flu' bug;  not a summer cold as I originally thought.   I've had the 'flu jab so it should be mild.    Mild... Man 'Flu?     I've taken the pills, but the scientists have yet to invent a pill that can combat 'Man 'flu'.   I'll be lying low for the next couple of days.   18.30    I've had a lazy day, but I id manage to wash and hang out a couple of sheets.   That leaves the downie cover for tomorrow:     The weather has been fine today, but much colder than  of late:  I put the heating on to help me shake of this /bug'.    I'll have toddie and...

Nice morning ....

5th August 2026 (Wednesday)   09.45 ..... It's a lovely, sunny and warm, morning;  there are shower clouds bumbling over, so we have the chance of a shower.   However,  I'm hoping that any showers are going to be somewhere else, so I have hung out a washing.    This is going to be a 'rest day'.    I'd originally intended going to Methil to annoy Alice, but I feel 'sluggish',  so a 'rest' day it is.   I'll now have an early morning coffee. 20.30     It ha been a breezy day, but the showers never reach us, so the beach would have been busy.   I have a 'summer cold';  hence the sluggish feeling.   I hope I haven't passed it on to the 'Troops'.  In the meantime I'll have a 'JT' before bed.   I have plenty food stuffs so don't need to go shopping;  Emily and John bought me milk etc.... so tomorrow, and probably Friday, will be stay in, and "oot o' the rood "days....

Dreich start to the morning ....

Image
Henry. 4th August 2026 (Tuesday)     09.30 .... We have a grey and damp morning coming in on a SE breeze from from the North Sea;  "dreich" best describes best what the weather is like just now!    However,  the breeze is going to veer to the South, hopefully  bringing brighter spells in the afternoon.     I'm missing the 'Troops':  Henry and Austen wouldn't be bothered by the 'dreich' weather... they'd just get on with doing their thing.   'Drying days'?.... that's something for Mummy and Daddy to bother about;  we've got things to do! 16.30  The sky brightened up a bit in the afternoon but we never had any sunny spells, which was disappointing.    At least it has been mostly dry though we did have a few spots of rain around lunch time. I went to Elie after morning coffee to get an appointment at Lorraine's (Hairdresser).   I got lucky as Lorraine had a cancellation and I could get don...

Damp ....

3rd August 2026 (Monday)     08.00 .... It's an overcast,  quiet morning, with a light breeze from  the SE ;  and The Troops are on the move.    They plan on setting off after lunch;  in the meantime Henry has found a small Yo-Yo to puzzle over.    Yo-Yo?..... it's long time since I played with a yo-yo.  Unfortunately this, small yo'yo, has a knot on the string.... so I won't be playing with this one!     The shy, though overcast, shows signs of brightening up so we could have 'sunny spells' later.;  however we have light rain just now. 17.45    'The Troops' arr on their way to John's  parent's in Cumbria for another break before they travel home to Somerset.     Henry and Austen were buzzin' this morning;  probably guessed that they were going to be visiting John's Mum and Dad, their Cumbrian Gran and Grandad.    The light rain has moved away and we now have a ni...

2 nd August 2026 (Sunday)     11.00  .... It's a lovely morning   The Troops are off, for a walk,  to the 'Paper shop' to  get milk (Blur Top).    Meanwhile I've got The Buggy'out of it's nest:  the 'plan is to go up to Chapel Green , where 'The Small  Troop' can run about and tire themselves out.   At the moment we have a light breeze from the West but that is 'backing' to the ESE later in the afternoon, bringing in a change of weather eventually;   mostly light wet stuff! 15.30     e have enjoyed a sunny and warm afternoon  and the villages have been  busy.   I got 'The Buggy' out (that reminds me i need to bring in the pavement ramp) and we went up to Chapel Green to Maggie's Seat, to get a few photographs of 'troops in action'.  I've just brought the ramp in;  and Ferry Road was quiet!   Of course ....most folk will already be down on the beach!...

Nice morning ....

1st August 2026 (Saturday)     08.30 .... We have cloud,  with occasional light drizzle just now, but "sunny intervals with a fresh WSW breeze" is the weather forecast for KY9 today;  so a nice day for our holiday makers.    'The Troops' are out;  I think Emily said they were going to the beach;  I didn't have my hearing aids in at the time.     10.15    Emily, John and  the Boys are off to the Festival (Pittenweem), to see their friend Tori Ratcliffe at (Venue 45);  Pet Portrait and Wildlife Artist.   Me?..... I'm in the middle of doing a very hard Soduko in The Hutte.    Actually there is a cool feel to the air;  when I think about it this is the first day of August, and there are only 145 days until Christmas!   No wonder the air feels colder! 19.00     'The Troops' enjoyed their time at Pittenweem Festival;  but, there was a cool breeze at the harbo...

31st July 2026 (Friday)     07.30 ..... It's a bonnie morning, with a nice fresh feel to the air;  a day for doing things.    Me? ..... I'm going to have a 'rest' day.   I got 'up' at 06.00 as planned, but I don't think I'll be doing much today.    I didn't do very much yesterday, but walking round the supermarket tires the auld legs. ... and I'm excited about the 'Troops' coming.    Yes... this could be a 'rest day'. 20.30    'The Troops' are here!    'Ivy Cottage' is alive;  with young, happy (maist o' the time) sounds.   Sometimes they both want the same thing, and that can lead to .... a temporary tiff.    I'm surprised at how advanced they both are:  and how inquisitive they are.   And Ivy Cottage is full of things that need investigating!    The TV 'button' have been for a couple of walks;  and are now in a 'safe' place. As planned I had a 'rest da...

Bright and breezy .... (so is the weather)

30th July 2026 (Thursday)     09.20 .... we have a lovely morning;   'bright. breezy and warm' a  grand morning to be on holiday.    I'm feeling 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' this morning;  and it's a good drying day so there's a washing on the line.     The 'plan' is to go along to Methil and annoy Alice;   she has also been 'under the weather';   of course, it was wet yesterday!    Must 'go' slight 'flap on';  the 'Troops'  are coming! 17.30    I have been busy today:  but it was too hot in the afternoon for me being active.   However I worked really hard in the morning!    Nearly forgot;  the 'Slight Flap On', of morning time, has been upgraded to 'Flap on State - Serious' now.   I will do some work after dinner. It was 'hot' this morning ;  I was glad to get in to Sainsbury's cool areas.    The shop was quieter than usu...

Overcast and damp ....

29th July 2026 (Wednesday)     09.00 .... It's cloudy and warm, with light rain and sunny spells  forecast for KY9.   Nice quiet morning actually; but it will get louder once I put my hearing aids in.   No 'plan' for today;  but I might venture out for a short walk after this update:   the sky is looking like a sunny spell could be on it's way.     13.30    I had a short walk;  the phone box, Thistle Clubhouse, Rotten Row Ferry Corner and home.     A short walk, but enjoyable just the same.     I am glad that I did all the walking and biking that I with Maggie,  with friends, and on my own, when I was able;  and have the photographs to browse when I'm old!     There are bits of blue in the sky just now so we could be in for a bright, and warm,  afternoon.   I'm contemplating doing some 'ousework;  that means I saw the Hoover and ...

Warm and damp ....

28th July 2026 (Tuesday)     10.00 .... We've had some light rain overnight;  with heavy showers and sunny spells forecast.   I can see a big blue patch coming over just now, so sunny spells are definitely in the mix,  albeit with the chance of a shower now and again.   Actually, we might get lucky with the heavy showers;  they could me be more towards the West of Fife!    And,  I've abandoned the haircut 'plan' for today, because there's something in the air that's upsetting the auld tubes this morning.    Funny thing is;  I feel almost frolicsome. 11.30    I set off to wander down to the beach, but only went as far as Ferry Corner.    Whatever is in the air is still 'in the air', so I'm going to take an anti histamine pill. 17.00     By the time I took the anti histamine pill it was too hot to go to the beach anyway;  even with the freshening breeze.    So...
