Bright and breezy .....

4th May 2026 (Monday)      10.45 .... I overslept this morning, because I watched  the film ('movie' nowadays) '1917' , and that didn't end until 23.50.   I was in bed by 040030.    It' shows the horrors of WW1 at the beginning, but sort of loses it half way through;  but is an interesting WW1 film.   Anyway we have a bonnie, sunny, and warm, morning here in KY9;  with a moderate drying breeze.   And, the washing is on the line.    I don't really have a 'plan' for today, but I might go out after morning coffee, and after the pills have kicked in.Ferry Road has been quiet, but that might be because I slept in and missed the 'Ferry Road' rush hour(s). 17.15    Elie High Street parking places were full of  parked cars when I went up to the Chemist to hand in my prescription;  even the disabled one!    However I parked in the 'Keep Clear' space next to the Disabled space;  then...

3rd May 2026 (Sunday)     10.00 .... The sky is overcast,  and it has been raining overnight, but its fair now.    Light rain is forecast for the morning, but dry in the afternoon with (let's be positive) sunny spells in the afternoon!   There's a light Easterly breeze so it  will be cool on the beach.    Me? ..... I'm going to potter around Ivy in the morning, then see that the weather is like in the afternoon.   I doubt if I'll take 'The Buggy' out today;  Ferry Road has been busy;  with cars, joggers and walkers. 12.00    It is chilly out (I've been as far as the gate) so I won't be going anywhere this afternoon.    However, we  get a respite from the East wind  tomorrow, as the wind is veering to the West, but only for one day!     I forgot to mention the snooker!    Last night Mark Allen had to pot the black to win through to the Final, 17 frames to 15,...

2nd May 2026 (Saturday)      09.15 .... It's a lovely sunny morning, with a light breeze form the Westerly direction just now but backing to the Easterly direction by in the afternoon;   light showers are mentioned in the weather forecast for KY9.   I haven't a 'plan' for today;  if the roads are quiet later I might get 'the Buggy out;  I say later, because Ferry Road is busy just now.    It's 'early morning coffee' time! 15.00    I've had a reasonably busy morning in The Hutte;  the roads were, and are,  too busy for me to take 'The Buggy' out .   We've had a nice sunny day s far, but the sky is clouding  over over, and we have the chance of showers in the late afternoon/ evening time. I that Jewish people suffered from so much hatred.   They are actually frightened to go 'walking' like we do;  that shouldn't happen in the UK, or anywhere for that matter.   I'm sure that ...

1st May 2026 (Friday)      09.45 ....Is this not the morning when we're supposed to wash our faces with morning dew?    Anyway by the time i got up (slept in)  the morning dew had been evaporated by a warm sun, aided by a drying breeze.    Face washed in the shower, had breakfast, taken a  hay fever pill;  yes... I'm  ready to 'rock 'n roll.     Going by the Glenfuir flags (I can see them) the breeze is from the SSW. 20.30   Although we have light rain just now, most of the daylight hours have been mostly sunny and warm.   Even with the rain the air is warm;  and the pollen count 'low'.    I've had a l az ... er ... restful day.   I didn't mean be 'lazy';  nut I sat down to watch the snooker after lunch and it was so exciting that I couldn't stop watching it.    It's the World Championships (from the Crucible in Sheffield ... on BBC 2 usually)).  ...

30th April 2026 (Thursday)      09.00 ..... It's bright and sunny  this morning, with a frisky SE breeze, so there will be windchill to contend with on then beach.   I'm feeling  mair adventurous and have decided to go and annoy Alice, then do some shopping in Leven.    There's  been some heavy traffic on Ferry Road;  either that or my hearing aids are too loud.    Must 'go';  'slight Flap On' this morning. 20.00    We've had another lovely, sunny day;  and it was warm as long as you were sheltered from the onshore wind.    At one point it was blowing F 4 -5 out in the bay.    This dry Easterly wind is disagreeable ro the tubes;  but brilliant for drying claes. I had a pleasant trip to Leven and Methil;  the roads were busy both ways, but nobody was driving like they should have set off half an hour earlier.    Alice had the kettle 'on' when I arrived, so we had ...

29th April 2026 (Wednesday)      09.15 ....  We have a "bright, with a light Easterly breeze' morning";    definitely a 'play day'.    The temperature went down to 2.6C overnight, but is now at 6.8C.  We should have a lovely, warm day;  though there will be a cool onshore breeze on the beach.... and maybe even on the golf course.   Me? ....  I'm feeling almost 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' this morning;  and ready  to'play' with the new Hoover.    I'll have an early morning coffee first. 14.45    I enjoyed using the new Hoover, but, my word, it was hard work!   Then, after I'd finished,  I remembered that  there's a bit you slide to uncover air holes,  to make it easier on deep pile carpets.    Anyway the Hoover sooks brilliantly;  there's stuff in the stoor container.    Which bin does that go in I wonder? It is a bonnie, sunny day now, and ...

28th April 2026 (Tuesday)     09.30 ..... We have light cloud just now, but sunny intervals  are  forecast for the afternoon.   There's a light Easterly breeze, so I imagine it will be cool on the beach.   It was 10.8C on the thermometer when I went out 10 minutes ago.   Oh.... I don't feel as lethargic as I was yesterday, but I'm not going to over exert myself today!    That's another way of saying that this is going to be a 'stay in and stay warm , and lazy, day.'      17.00     I went out to The Hutte after lunch to do a few Sudoku's, and have my siesta;  actually it wasn't as warm as I thought it would be, because the sun hadn't broken through.   I came in and watched the snooker,  until the Official  Ceremony welcoming the King and Queen to the USA.  That went well, and President Trump's speech was just the right length... with some humour in it.  ...

Quiet morning ....

27th April 2026 (Monday)      09.15 ..... I had fun in the shower this morning;  the water kept going from really hot to cold all the time;  this is caused by low water pressure.    Anyway I danced around, in and out of the water, and had a shower of sorts.   I've done the important thing;  filled up a container with  water for the kettle;  it's all 'go' at Ivy now!    Apparently there's a burst pipe in the Ferry High Street.    Off to have a banana .... and another cuppa.    And, I need the sun to break through and warm up 'The Hutte'.    'Light rain' showers  are mentioned in the weather forecast for KY9.    I think this will be a 'lazy' day for me. 20.00    I said I'd have a 'lazy day' ... and  that is what I've had.    I went up to Chapel Green in the car, and had a short walk around and took a few photies.   I'm always surprised at t...

26th April 2026 (Sunday)     10.00  .... It's a quiet morning;  but that could be because I haven't got my hearing aids in yet!   I'll remedy that immediately!   At the moment ,all cars on Ferry Road are moving under battery power.   That's better;  it isn't as quiet a morning as I thought! At the moment we have light cloud, but 'sunny intervals with a light breeze' is forecast' to we  should have a  lovely afternoon. I see on the News that there has been an attempt to get close  to President Trump, ( presumably with the intention of shooting him) by a person with guns ans knives, but, luckily, the potential assailant never actually got into the room the President was in, thanks to the Security   Did the World heave a sigh of relief?    There is so much  so hatred, and availability of weapons, in the World nowadays!  Anyway no one died in the incident, but one of the Security people...

Light cloud ....

25th April 2026 (Saturday)     09.45 .... The sun is slowly shifting the early morning fog/low cloud we had earlier.   "Sunny intervals, with a moderate Easterly breeze" is forecast, so we should have a lovely afternoon;  but it will be cool out in the open.   We're going to Leven (after another cuppa) to get some of Iain's 'Freefrom' food, and a new Hoover  for me.   Does the firm Hoover still make 'Hoovers'? 16.00    Iain has been up to Chapel Green looking for insects to photograph;  Me? ..... I fell asleep in 'The Hutte'.    Oh our trip tp Leven went perfectly;  the only hindrance being the roadworks in Lundin Links.    The workmen were there today! I got my new 'Hoover';  it's a Vax... an much quieter that the old one.    The old one had bits falling off it so was well ready for the re-cycling yard.    I've been meaning to get a new 'oover for a while, so I'm a h...

Thick Fog .....

Image
24th April 2026 (Friday)     08.30 .....  we have thick fog just now but that should clear by midday.  We should end up with wall to wall sunshine later!   The main problem is not with the weather this morning;  there's serious lack of water pressure.    I've done the vital job of filling up a jug and a couple of bottles to keep the kettle topped up.    Oh ... and there's a 'Very High' pollen count for KY9;  it's the hay fever season!    20.00    The fog cleared away after morning coffee to give us a lovely, sunny and warm, Spring day.     That said, the light breeze was off the North sea so it would be cooler on the beach.    Iain arrived about 14.00 and caught me lounging in 'The Hutte';   I wasn't quite asleep.   Since then we've caught up with each other's News, and made a 'plan' for tomorrow.    I need a new 'oover, so we'll get one tomorrow, ...

23rd April 2026 (Thursday)     "Happy St George's Day" to all my friends in 'Sunny England'! 09.00 .... Although the sky is mostly cloudy just now, we should end up with a nice sunny intervals day once the sun gets going.    I haven't been further than the gate but it doesn't feel as cold as it was yesterday;  probably because there's only a light breeze.   Then 'plan' is.... to go to Methil and annoy Alice, then do a bit of shopping for Iain coming at the weekend,   I'll have another cuppa before I do anything else! 19.30     Apart from the chilly wind off the North Sea this has been another lovely,,sunny, Spring day.   As per 'plan' I went to Leven, and Methil.   The only hold up were the roadworks at Lundin Links.  Actually, there didn't seem to be anybody working on site;  the only movement I saw was when the traffic lights changed colour!   It was the same on the return journey...

Nice morning ....

22nd April 2026 (Wednesday)      09.45 ....  The overnight 'low' on the thermometer was was 3.2C so we had a chilly stat to the morning.;  it's 9.4C , now with a light breeze.     It will  be cool on the beach.   There's  already heat in the early sunshine, so really warm sheltered from the breeze.   This could the day that I get 'The Buggy' out .... after morning coffee. 1 2.00    The sun is starting to break through the cloud that has been with us for  most of the morning;   I'm looking forward to a sunny afternoon!    Unfortunately there's a moderate breeze, and, being off the North Sea it's chilly.    I have been 'working';   d inner has been organised for tonight ... the tautties peeled etc.   I'm having 'sausages and mash' (with vegetables), one of my favourites. 19.15    It has been a nice Spring day, albeit a cold one when  out in ...

21st April 2026 (Tuesday)    09.30 .... We have sunny spells, with occasional  drizzle, blowing through on a brisk, and chilly Easterly wind.    It is a 'wrap up well morning;  especially  before going anywhere near the breach, or golf course.   Me? .... I haven't  got a 'plan', but I think this will be a 'stay in and warm' day:  probably mostly in 'The Hutte' once the sun warms it up.    I'll venture up to the 'Paper shop'  after morning coffee;  but won't be going to the harbour. 17.30     As per 'plan' I went to the 'Paper Shop;  where I caught up with the local News, then on to Colinsburgh to put fuel in the car: not an enjoyable task nowadays.    The present 'Leader of the Western World'  will go down in history as the most disruptive President of the USA  .... ever!    Let's hope that the talks, that might take place in Pakistan sometime, extends the 'cease...

20th April 2026 (Monday)      09.15 .... It'a a bonnie morning for being out and about;   I might get 'The buggy' out today;   but April showers are mentioned  in the weather forecast so I'll see how that develops.  I'm feeling? .... 'almost playful' actually,    But the 'plan' is to have a quiet day;  one of the things I'm going to do is post my Postal Vote.   Right now it's time to  have an early morning coffee.    oops ... I sneezed!    20.00    I've had a busy day.   In the morning I posted my Postal Vote, and, being as the car was pointing to the harbour I  went there;  for the firs time in a couple of weeks.   There was hardly any wind so it wasn't cold;  and I was well wrapped up. The villages are still busy with holiday folk;  or I should maybe say, 'folk I don't know'.    Some of them could be 'new locals'! As you can see fro...

Lovely morning ....

Image
19th April 2026 (Sunday)     09.30 ..... It's a an absolutely beautiful morning;  sunny and warm, with a light, but cool,  Northwesterly breeze.... a nice morning for the joggers.  I might even make it as far as 'Nana's Seat' sometime today.    Actually I might get 'The Buggy' out later;  it depends on how busy the Ferry Road is.    At the moment it's quiet.    Oops ....a migraine has just kicked in;  that will cramp my activities a bit.   Off to take the pills.  18.45    It's a gorgeous evening,  so I ventured up to my usual place  at the end of the Kinneuchar Station road to get a few 'today photies.   And 'lo and behold', there was 'His Nibs' strutting his stuff.  He started to give me the warning off signs;  that let me know that his wife must be sitting nearby.   I was hoping he'd step into the sunny bit, but no;  he was mair interested in war...

18th August 2026 (Saturday)     09.45 ..... I've been 'up and running'(?) since 06.45 this morning, thinking of going to Nana's Seat for an early morning 'walk';  but it's to windy and cold to be out in the open.    It's a nice enough morning, with April Showers forecast;  that means 'sunny spells' in between the showers.    I'll most likely work in the, hopefully cosy, 'Hutte'.  There's 'work' that I want, and need, to do.   Today is the start of a spell of colder weather according to the BBC weather lassie (Elizabeth Rizzini) this morning.   We need a spell of warm weather to shake of the winter ailments.   I'm going to venture out to check the thermometer. 19.00    Apart from a couple of squally showers in the afternoon, we've had a nice day at KY9;  right enough it has been breezy with a bit windchill so not as warm as  I'd like.    However it was warm in 'The Hutte'.  ...

Quiet morning ....

17th April 2026 (Friday)     09.50 .... We have an overcast sky with la light shower just now, but it's warm (11.2C) ;  and the sky has promising signs of 'sunny spells' now and again.   The joggers have been out, and Andy went out with his golf clubs,  so all is good at Ferry Road.    Me? ..... I've been as far as the thermometer.... and have done some 'ousework.    I'm actually feeling playful, but will remain calm and get on with the  'work'.   I might go out after morning coffee. 15.45    I ser off for Nana's Seat, as I did yesterday, and got as far as Ferry Corner, found that the wind had freshened and it was much colder than expected!   I wasn't well wrapped up because I'd been in 'The Hutte'.    I might try for Nana's Seat  again .... tomorrow! Actually, it has been a day of mixed weather, quite cloudy with a couple of short spells of light rain.   I'm going to make ...

16th April 2026 (Thursday)     09.30 .... It's a bright and breezy morning here in KY9;  with a lot of April Shower clouds bumbling over from the West.    'Drizzle' is the precipitation mentioned in the forecast.    My word .... I had a brilliant night's sleep last night, right through from midnight to 06.15.    Today will be a quiet day 'working' in 'The Hutte'.    Oops! ....  there someone at the door.   19.00    Although we've had loads of sunny spells all day, the chilly breeze  spoiled what could have been a really bonnie day.   The cold air didn't bother me because I was in 'The Hutte most of the time:  and I'm happy with progress. I've  had a visit from 'the cat' again;  and I can tell you it is no lightweight.   I was sitting (in The Hutte) thinking when I heard this awful clatter as something landed on the garden table outside.   I thought it w...

1 5th April 2026 (Wednesday)     09.45 .... We've had  a fair amount of rain overnight, but the  rain has moved away and the sky is showing signs of breaking;  to give us sunny spells with the chance of showers later.    Another band of rain is due late in the afternoon.   Ferry Road has been quiet this morning!.... no joggers!    18.30    I've had a good, and busy, day:  I woke up  feeling 'bright eyed and bushy tailed';  and even better after the shower. I decided to have a small adventure, and go to 'The Store' and have a browse up and sown the aisles.    It was a good time to go shopping because 'The Store' was quiet;  as the roads had been on the way along.  As usual nowadays I didn't meet anyone I knew;  but spoke to a few folk.     Most of the folk I talked too seemed to be holidaymakers, going by their voices.    Anyway I enjoyed a quiet bumble ...
