Bright and breezy ....

Image
13th April 2026 (Monday)     10.00 .... We have a bonnie start to the 'working' week, sunny with a light, chilly, breeze.   It's a great morning to be out on the bike.... or jogging.   I'll have another cuppa after this update. I've just seen President Trump, 'Leader of the Free West', give  Pope Leo a round of the Trump guns.    I'm beginning to think that President Trump sees himself as Pope Leo's 'Boss'!       Alberto? .... I'm feeling brighter this morning. but will stay 'in' and warm, 'working' on the computer and drawing.   Must 'go'.... slight Flap On'.... need a liquid intake!    And a 'goodie'! 12.15    I've had a run round the 'Royal Burgh' and up to my usual parking place near Kinneuchar, to get a few 'today' photos.  By he way, it's a nice day out, but, if out in the open,  the breeze is chilly.   And, there's a chance of April Showers!   I enjoy...

Nice morning ....

12th April 2026 (Sunday)     12.00 ....  It a bright and breezy morning;  but it isn't as cold as it was yesterday.. ... however there is a chance of squally showers.   I've hung out a small washing, because it's actually a good drying day;  I'm relying on the showers missing us! The Peace talks in Pakistan failed to come up with a 'Peace Plan' for the Middle East.   That's disappointing, but not surprising.   The strange thing about all this is;  I'm beginning to believe Iran!  A bad ending. to what was a good attempt at 'Giving Peace a chance'.   I'm going to have a late morning coffee then get back to 'work'! 20.00    Apart from a couple of showers in the afternoon we've had a nice day here at KY9.    I did some research, but couldn't really get going today because the cold I have has 'broken':  I should start to feel 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' tomorrow.    Hmmmm? ....

Overcast and damp .....

11th April 2026 (Saturday)     10.30 .... It's quiet, albeit damp, morning, but the sky is showing promising signs of 'sunny spells' to come.    There's only a light breeze so, so less windchill, and not as cold as it was yesterday.    It's not raining just now, but there is the chance of light rain showers.    Ferry Road is busy with traffic, both walking and vehicular;   I guess it's still the Easter holiday.    Me? ..... I'm going to be working on the computer, and out in The Hutte.   Got loads to do;  and I'm feeling productive.   And will be after 'morrrrrrrrrning coffee' .... which I about to have.    The astronauts are safely back o Earth after their trip round the moon;  and the Iranian and American 'Teams' are in Pakistan for the bi-lateral meeting, re bringing Peace to the Middle East.   That's the main 'News' this morning.  I hope that common sense prevails ...

10th April 2026 (Friday)    08.45 .... It's a bonnie, sunny morning;  but there's a chilly breeze, so it  will be cool when exposed to the frisky wind.   Me? ..... I'm  going to be warm in The Hutte, drawing an A3 size version of the old pier.   I enjoy drawing, but didn't do any when the workmen were busy next door, and had to move the shed.    Anyway Iain and Jackie have given me my 'Drawing Place' back so I'm a 'happy boy'. 18.45    It has been a beautiful, mostly sunny day;  but there was windchill with the frisky wind.   It was a perfect drying day;  and I had  a washing out.     I spent most of the day in 'The Hutte' drawing.   At one point I thought of going round The Ferry on 'The Buggy' but decided against it because of the windchill;  and the traffic.   And;  I'm nursing a cold.   That means Alberto will lying low for the next couple...

9th April 2026 (Thursday)       09.30 .... It's cloudy and damp just now, but nut gloomy;  it's a good morning to work on the computer;  and make a start on my drawing.   It's cooler this morning, but not cold;  probably about where the temperature should be at this time of year.   The last couple of days have been unseasonably warm;  especially down south in Sunny Sussex.   What's next?.... I think I'll have a wander up to 'The Hutte', with a fresh mug o' coffee, and make a plan for my 'today'. 19.15    The sky cleared in the afternoon, and we now have a lovely, albeit cold, evening.     What did I do today?   I set about sketching, from notes and measurements I took in 2014, a plan type drawing of the Old Pier.   The drawing is 'to Scale';   of the measurements I took then.   The width of the pier is perfect but the length could be a yard or so out....

Nice morning ....

8th April 2026 (Wednesday)     09.30 .... It's a lovely balmy kind o' mornin';  definitely a jogging, biking/exercise morning.   There's a light, and warm, southwesterly breeze;  and I'm feeling playful.  What a difference a slight change in wind direction makes! Alice phoned to tell me that Irene, Isobel's (Alice's daughter) Mother in Law) had died, peacefully, last night.   Irene, who is 92, was in Scoonie Care Home because of 'heart problems'.   My condolence's go to Alan, Isobel and their family in Canada;  Alice and her family, Karen, Theresa and Brian... and the wider Robertson and Mitchell Families, and all their friends. Irene, whom I had the pleasure of meeting  a few times in the Care Home, was a lovely lady;  an elderly, and clever  lady with a lovely smile.   She will be sadly missing from our lives now, but always in our memories.  20.00    I've had a very quiet day;...

7th April 2026 (Tuesday) .... 09.00 .... It's a beautiful Spring morning ; a 'get up and go' morning.  I'm going to Leven and Methil;  Methil to annoy Alice, before we go shopping in Leven.     I might be tempted to take 'The Buggy' out in the afternoon, but that depends on how busy the roads are.   It's 7C just now, so could be really warm in the afternoon.   Off to have another cuppa. 19.00    It has been a nice sunny day, but there's a chilly wind off the North Sea, so colder than we need!    The shopping trip to Methil and Leven went well,,   The roadworks, (with temporary traffic lights) in Lundin Links, are a nuisance:  it wasn't too bad on the way to Methil, but I had two five minute stops, on the way to the traffic light, on the way home.   The queue was back as far as The Old manor.   That was frustrating. I eventually got back to Ivy, and moored up' at the gate, so didn't h...

Cloud with sunny spells .... .....

6th April 2026 (Monday)       09.45 .... It's a nice, quiet kind of morning;  joggers joggin', golfers golfin'.... a bonnie morning to be out and about.     There's only a light, breeze so it's cool but not cold;  I might actually venture up to the phone box to get a few shots of the golf course.    Although not a great ';drying day' I'm going to put a washing out;  that's the 'work' bit for today. 16 30    This has been a lovely Spring day, and I have been busy.   I decided to have a daunder to the phone box, but, feeling good, I went up to the seat at the 17th green.   The golf course was busy, it was a warm sunny day, and I was out with the camera,  and enjoying being out. This is Easter Monday so the road was busy with holiday traffic.   Actually I've seen cars go down Ferry Road with bikes on the back, and suitcases on the roof rack.   Could this be holidaymakers star...

5th April 2026 (Sunday)     10.30 ...... The weather is of the bright and breezy  kind this morning;  Photo courtesy BBC News Channel and  chilly in the frisky SW wind.    Most of the folk wandering sown Ferry Road are wearing winter type jackets, and  woollie hats!  There's certainly loads of fresh air around this morning;  especially on the beach.    Me? ...... I'll have morning coffee in 'The Hutte'!    It's a research and take notes day for Alberto! There is some good News this Easter morning;  the Americans's have rescued their downed pilot in Iran.   He is in safe hands and will soon be 'home'. Unfortunately there is also bad News ..... the war blunders on!   19.00 .... Sitting in the Hutte was nice and warm;  but outside it was windy and cold.   Having said that I saw plenty of folk heading for the beach but they were well wrapped up.   I'd call this a rest...

4th April 2026 (Saturday)     09.40 .... We have a bright and breezy' morning;  a good morning for the joggers (been there done that.... and i wish I could do it now) that were out early.    I shall have morning coffee in 'The Hutte, because although the sky is cloudier now that it was earlier, we still have sunny spells, but light rain showers are mentioned in the weather forecast for KY9:  with gales overnight into Saturday morning. 14.45    I've been doing some research;  and playing with the pictures I got, off the Photo Frame, last night.    The weather has deteriorated ans we not have an overcast sky, with occasional spells of light rain;  and the wind has freshened a bit.    I'm going to make a fresh cuppa, then settle down to watch the News.     And have my afternoon catnap!   I blame the cat that meandered in yesterday;  it reminded me that I enjoy a catnap! 19.30  ...

Cloudy ....

Image
3rd April 2026 (Friday)      10.00 ..... we had a sunny start to the morning, but is had clouded over,  and it looks like we will have light rain showers.   There's a fresh SW wind so the light showers could be squally showers.    I might abandon working in 'The Hutte'  today:  I'll bring the postcards I'm working with into Ivy,  and work closer to the kettle!    I thought it was warm when I first went out (07.30) but it colder now:  maybe it's the wind that has freshened.    I'm going to put the kettle 'on', then bring in the postcards.. 15.00    It was a nice enough morning for me to do the postcards in 'The Hutte';   and made friends with a cat that comes to The Royal Burgh for it's Easter holidays.    I intended having my siesta out there but it started to rain.  The cat disappeared when a shower o' rain  came;  and I disappeared into Ivy.   It's on...

2nd April 2026 (Thursday)     09.45.... We have a lovely, sunny morning here;  but there is a chill chilly air:  luckily there's only a light breeze so hardly any windchill.    There was frost on the cars earlier (overnight Low was (- 0.9C), but the sun has shifted that.    Actually it will be warm ,   I used to like going out the bike on a morning like this.... but the roads are too busy for me to go out on the bike at this time now.   And, with this being the Easter break the villages will be busy.    19.45    I had some glass items to take to Woodhaven re-cycling place;  from where I took today's photographs.    The top photograph was taken from the Re-Cycling place.      The road into Woodhaven amenities (Toilets, Car Parks and Recycling Depot, is in a serious state of neglect.   The 'pot holes'  were full of water, so there was no clue as to there depth...

1st April 2026 (Wednesday)    10.00 .... after a spell of  early morning sunshine, the sky is clouding Photo courtesy BBC News Channel. over and we are expected to have a band of rain pass over us in the afternoon.   However the day should end with a nice evening.     At the moment, we   have a quiet morning (apart from vehicles on Ferry road), pleasantly warm, nd although cloudier than earlier we get plenty 'sunny  spells,'  .... and... there's only a light breeze. I'll miss Carol doing the weather:  she may not always have sunny weather for us, but she always had a smile that brightened even the 'dreichest' of days!  "Enjoy Retirement Carol". 19.00    The rain started at 14.30!   I know this because I was working in 'The Hutte' with my postcards.  That's the sort of job I find relaxing;   and interesting.   I also saw my first Queen Wasp of the year.... outside 'The Hutt...

31st March 2026  (Tuesday) ....  We have a bright and breezy morning, and, it's not as cold as I expected it to be when I ventured out to the gate.    If the weather stays like this I might get 'The Buggy' out sometime today.    I'm going to hang out a couple of towels, because it is a good drying day.     Ferry Road has been busy with vehicles this morning;   I suspect 'The Buggy' won't be going further than the patio. 19.30    It has been a bonnie, mostly sunny, day;  and it's quite mild now.   I have had an enjoyable day, driving to Leven and Methil, annoying Alice, shopping at Sainsbury's (the shop was quiet), back to Alice HQ for a picnic lunch,    Alan (Alice's son in law) arrived, driving his Mum's Wheelchair accessible car.    The wheelchair fits in where the front seat would normally be, so perfect for Irene being taken out for a run, with a front seat view of the scenery. ...

30th March 2026 (Monday)      10.45 .... We have a lovely sunny morning;  potentially a good drying day, but occasional squally showers could blunder their way across.    Am I going to worry about squally showers?..... no, because I've just hung out a washing.   There's a grand drying wind at present;  so washing should dry quickly.   I am now beginning the 'rest' part of my day!   Kettle 'on', and have morning coffee in The Hutte.    Might even find a 'goodie' to go with the coffee. 19.15    As a 'rest day' I'd say this has been a good one!    It has been a mix of 'work' (doing the weekend washing) and sorting out postcards in my 'new' work space;....  the Hutte'!    I am so chuffed with 'The Hutte' being back to 'normal';  I had morning coffee in it, watched the washing blowing in the wind (and untangled a sheet when it tangled up with the Apple tree), fed 'Blob'when he ...

Windy and wet .....

Image
29th March 2026 (Sunday)     09.30 .... It's windy (F4 Westerly) and wet just now, but there should be sunny spells in the afternoon.    This means that I will clean the inside of the Hutte windows in the morning, and the outsides in the afternoon.   That is the work 'plan' for today:  that, and doing some light housework. To have 'The Hutte' back as a place to relax and think;  (even fall asleep) is fantastic.     I intended having morning coffee out there today;  but that has been put on hold.   Iain and Jackie are on their way home, so I'm going to have another cuppa, that make start on cleaning the windows.      16.45    'The Hutte' windows have been cleaned;  in fact they are so clean that,  if it wasn't for the reflections, you wouldn't know there was glass there at all.   Anyway, that's the windows cleaned, and and The Hutte fully operational.    I sh...

28th March 2026 (Saturday)     09.00 .... It's a lovely, sunny morning, but my word, .... it's cold!  There's a wintry feel to a fresh Westerly wind, so definitely a a wrap up well day.   Having said that it will be warm sheltered from the wind, as it will be in Kellie Castle garden;  which is where we will be after morning coffee.    I'm going to make another cuppa, before venturing out to check the thermometer! 21.30    My word..... I am shattered after  a busy day 'working' in the garden.    The greenhouse is tidier, and 'The Hutte', having been cleaned out, (and 'oovered) is, once again suitable for having morrrrrrrrrrning coffee in... and afternoon tea!    This could of course be 'fake' News.    replace 'I am', in then first line of this update, with 'Jackie and Iain' and you have the actual true 'News'.    They have done a brilliant job of tidying up, and de- cluttering.  ...

27th March 2026 (Friday) ....  "Happy Birthday" to Michael:  63 .... oops ... er ...29 today!    Enjoy your day. 08.45    We have a nice morning here;  and, although there's a light breeze it doesn't feel that cold.  Maybe  I haven't woken up yet,  but it certainly isn't as cold as it was yesterday.    There's lot of light cloud at the moment  but the sun is trying hard to burn that off:  "sunny intervals with a moderate breeze is forecast for KY9.   I'm going to have another cuppa then run round with the 'Hoover' before Jackie and Iain arrive. 17.30     Jackie and Iain arrived at around 13.00 so I have caught up with the Auchnagatt 'News'.    Since then Iain has set up the Digital photo-frame; and sent a mixed batch of photographs to it.   He has also sent the 'code ' to the troops, North and South, so we could have a varied batch of photies tomorrow.    While...

26th March 2026 (Thursday)     09.45 .... It's a lovely, sunny, morning.... but there's a cold breeze so cold out in the open.    Iain just phoned to say that he forgot he has a Dental appointment first thing tomorrow morning, so they (Jackie and Iain) won't arrive until nearer lunch time... on Friday.   I just remembered, I put a washing on a while ago;  it will be ready to hang out.    It's a good drying day ... but it will be cauld on the hands hanging out washing!    I'll put the kettle on before I go out! 15.00   It was cold hanging out the washing:  actually that reminds me... the washing must be almost dry.  I'll check after this update.   Drizzle is mentioned for the afternoon, and I'd rather bring in the washing than let it get wet again. I went to the Chemist to pick up my prescription this morning;  Elie seemed to be busy, with traffic so I didn't hang around.   With ...

25th March 2026 Wednesday)     08.45 .... The patio thermometer is at 3.9C just now... and there a frisky wind from the NNW so it's chilly when out in the open.    I was thinking of going to Leven to go shopping, but the temporary traffic lights at the bottom of Largo brae will be a nuisance:  I imagine there will be queues at busy times, over the Easter holiday break.   I'll probably end up going East;  to 'The Store' in Ainster. 17.00    We've enjoyed a nice, sunny day;  albeit with a cold Northerly wind.    I  went to 'The Store' and did a bigger shopping than I meant to have;  however it was all vital, with very few 'goodies'.     The roads were quiet on the way along, but the back road was busy on the way home.    That said I actually enjoyed driving today.    This is Easter weekend so our wee villages will be busy.    I've been reasonably busy;  I pott...
