Wall to wall blue sky .....

21st June 2026 (Sunday)     (Summer Solstice)      11.00 .... Beautiful morning;  warm with a light Southwesterly breeze.   Perfect day for a potter around on the beach .... under a layer of sun cream!   I had a brilliant night's sleep;  didn't wake up until 08.40.    I won't be watching football in the middle of the night again!   Unless Scotland is in the Final!

Nice morning .....

20th June 2026 (Saturday)      09.45 ....  We have near enough a 'wall to wall' blue sky .... and it's warm!    A decent spell of summer weather is long overdue.    I'm going to look out the sun cream! We had a late night watching Scotland v Morocco in the World cup in the Boston Stadium.    All the venues used for the World Cup matches are spectacular  some even super spectacular!    And all seem to be full at any of the games I have watched. 22.30     It had been a proper sunny summer's day;   and warm, verging on hot in the afternoon.   It was certainly too hot for me in 'The Hutte'.   That said;  I have been really tired today.... and have been falling asleep.    'The Boy' won't be staying up to watch football until 01.00 again, as I did last night watching Scotland play Morocco.   I'll be in bed by 23.00 tonight. Michael and Janice are out with fri...

19th June 2026 (Friday)    10.00 .... We've the occasional blue patch in the sky, but rain is Photo Courtesy BBC News. forecast:  though I expect sunny spells now and again.   This is one of the 'longest days' of summer with the Solstice on Sunday.    There's an Amber heat warning out for parts of England or the weekend;  it's to be comfortably warm in Scotland but not a heat wave.     Michael is having a Lemsip because he has a summer cold:  I wonder where he got that from?     oops! .... probably me!      The 'News is mostly about Andy Burnham winning the Makerfield by-election, and the repercussions that might happen because of  this win.  (Probably the 'end' of the Labour Party's chance of winning the next General Election).   Andy Burnham is a good 'speaker', but, for some reason I cannot imagine him on the International Stage!     UK politics could be intere...

18th June 2026 (Thursday)      09.30 .... St the moment it's cloudy but dry;  however light rain  forecast.  That said, at times it looks like the sun could break through and give us sunny spells.    I was thinking of doing a washing, but I'll leave that for another day.    I'll run round wi' the Hoover instead.   I'm tired after an enjoyable day yesterday;  today will be a rest day. 21.00   Michael and Janice went to the Ceres Museum in the morning;  Me? .... I wasn't as frolicsome as I'd hoped to be, so stayed at Ivy and caught up with some 'ousework.    When they got back from Ceres Janice and Michael decided to walk to Lower Largo (their 20,000 steps) via Dumbarnie Golf Links.   After a refreshing cup of coffee in the Railway Tavern, they caught the bus to Elie.    By this time it was raining heavily, so they got soaked walking from Elie to Ivy. While 'The Troops' were doin...

17th June 2026 (Wednesday)      09.30 .... We had light rain earlier, but the sky is brightening and  sunny spells should be with us soon.    Heavy rain is mentioned in the weather forecast for KY9 so this looks like being a day of mixed weather.    At the moment we have a light breeze from the Southwest, and the sun is on the verge of breaking through! 14.00   'Th Troops' are off for a walk along the beach;  the sun is breaking through so it should be comfortably warm for a walk. After breakfast we went up to Cupar to the 'Fisher and Donaldson', Fudge Doughnut Factory and Tearoom, where we had morning tea and an 'energy giving goodie'.    In my case it was one of my 'five a day'. George and I used to work, in Cupar, for Bett Brothers;   so this was a bit of a nostalgic run out in the  car for me.   I've just realised that was 40 odd years ago.;  it was a nostalgic run right enough!  ...

16th June 2026 (Tuesday)    10.00 ..... It's overcast, with light rain at the moment, but it should brighten up, to give us sunny spells in the afternoon.    There's a light, southeasterly  breeze, so not as warm as it should be in June.    It's cosy down in 'Sunny Sussex'.   14.15    Michael and Janice went to Leven to get some bits and pieces:  I stayed  at home nursing a cold I have.   I picked it up last Thursday in the 'Store'; so should begin to feel 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' tomorrow. The weather has been a bit of a let down this morning;  but the sky is brightening up now and we expect sunny spells shortly.   We've been watching the tennis from Eastbourne (Queen's) and can see that it's sunny in, would you believe it.... 'Sunny Sussex'!     15.00    Michael and Janice are away for a walk, so I am thinking of going out to The Hutte for 'afternoon coffee'. ...

15th June 2026 (Monday)      10.15 .... Janice and Michael are away to St Andrews on the bus, and I have been running round wi' the Hoover.   It's a nice morning, but the cloud is hiding the dun a lot of the time;  this means 'The Hutte' won't be as warm as I like it.   However, the  kettle is 'on'  and I will have morning coffee out there;  and do a Soduko. 18.00    I didn't linger out in The Hutte very long;  it was far too chilly.   The sun never really got going because of a thin layer of cloud that filtered the heat out.  It must have been cold on the beach.  As you can see from the top photograph we have 'traffic control' at the Ferry Road/ Links Road junction.   I didn't venture up to see what it was all about;  the wind had freshened by this time ans it was, and still is, cold! Janice and Michael arrived back from St Andrews a couple of hours ago, carrying a 'Fisher and Dona...

14th June 2026 (Sunday)     11.30 .... The sky is cloudy just now, but we could have sunny spells is Photo Courtesy BBC Sports Channel. the afternoon.... and light showers.    Michael and Janice are walking to Lower Largo today, so the showers, hopefully, will be somewhere else.   My job is to wash the dishes.   That's a very responsible job:  and, today I have to open a new packet of dishwasher tablets.   This could be stressful.   But not as stressful as watching Scotland v Haiti. on BBC this morning (at 08.00).    It wasn't the most entertaining game but Scotland got the only goal of the game, albeit via a deflection.   They will get better;  I certainly hope that this wasn't their best game! 18.30    Michael and Janice are back from their walk to Lower Largo;  the weather was mostly cloudy,  but cool.    It's sunny and cool now.   I've had a laz...

13th June 2026 (Saturday)    11.00 ....  It' a bright and breezy morning, with a light shower Photograph Courtesy BBC News Channel. now  and again.  The showers are infrequent;  do it's "a good drying day" between the showers!   Michael and Janice are away to Kirkcaldy to do a shopping.    I've ran round with the Hoover and  washed the dishes;  put them in the machine and pressed the button!    Tricky job that.     I'm going to have morning coffee in The Hutte ... and so a Soduko.  18.30    My word;  I am super impressed with a new TV. that Michael and Janice gave me for an early Father's Day present!   The photographs I get  from it are amazingly sharp.... as you can see from the 'Trooping the Colour' two photographs.   Happy happy 'me'!   The old TV is now in the bedroom! 12th June 2026 (Friday)     09.30 ..... It's a lovely morning... and a good drying day!     Michael and Janice will be getting ready to go to Uckfield Station.   Me? .... I had the best night's unbroken sleep in years last night:  I put the light out at 22.45 and woke up at 06.45!     And I had a long hot shower so I'm feeling rested, and  'playful'  this morning.    That said I have the car to 'worry' about;  however the garage will take care of that, and I should get it back in plenty of time to go for Janice and Michael.  Unfortunately I couldn't do the shopping I wanted to do!    That will have to be done tomorrow.     10.00    Apart from putting the downie inside it's cover, Michael and Janice have a bed to fall into tonight!   I'm going to celebrate that by having morning coffee! 11.30     The car is back at the gate.    I...

11th June 2026 (Thursday)     08.00 ..... It's a quiet kind of morning;  even the Blackie is quiet!  Light rain is forecast but at the moment it's not raining, though it looks like it has been because the patio slabs are wet.    I'm going to Leven (and Methil) to do a shopping:  Michael and Janice re coming up from Sunny Sussex tomorrow.   I'm going to have another cuppa before setting off for my first post of call .... Methil, and Alice HQ. 16.45     This has been an eventful day for me:   an alarm and a warning light came 'on' in the car as I was passing Mercury Motors, telling me that my brake fluid was low.   I could hardly believe my luck;   this happening as I was passing the garage.    Anyway I went to  the next junction (100 metres), turned and went back to the garage.    Ryan had to order a bit for it (it was more than fluid) so I'll get the car back later th...

10th June 2026 (Wednesday)      09.15 .... It's a bright and breezy morning;  with the chance thundery showers in the afternoon.    The thunder we had yesterday cleared the air and I have an 'almost frisky' feeling today!    Which is handy because I have a fair amount of 'work' to do.   I'm wondering if I have any washing to do because this could be a good drying day;  if the showers miss us.    I'm going to have an early morning coffee, and catch up with the News, before doing anything like 'work'!    'Work' is going to be of the mild kind today! 19.30    'Work'  of the mild kind? .... I forgot aboot that as soon as I finished the morning coffee.     The steps up to The Hutte were becoming overgrown with Lily of The Valley, and other green things with bonnie flo'ers.   Having looked at the weather forecast I decided to tidy up the steps. in the morning, because there's a ...

9th June 2026 (Tuesday)     09.15 ....  I'm seriously beginning to think of a long hot warm summer with this kind of sunny weather.   We have a lovely sunny start to the day, but light rain showers are forecast.    They (the light rain showers), will arrive after the jerseys, that I'm going to hang out in a wee while, have dried!    We have clouds drifting over on a moderate Westerly wind, but they're cotton wool clouds at the moment.  Anyway it's a lovely morning;  and I'm feeling positive!     This is going to be a 'work' morning, followed by a 'rest and play' afternoon. 18.30     It has been a lovely summer's day;  well it was until the sky began to cloud over about 17.00, bringing rain (and thunder about an hour later.    This has been a good day for me;  jersey's dry, and in, long before the rain came to water the tubs!    This would have been a really good day ...

8th June 2026 (Monday)     10.00 .....  It's a lovely, sunny morning here in KY9 .... a good drying day|  There is a chance of light showers, but I'm feeling positive.   Not quite 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' yet but definitely more excitable than I have been lately.   The 'plan' is to 'work' in short spells;  this old age thing is a nuisance when it comes to working!    Old age?.... me?.... No.... not yet!   Anyway I'm going to hang out a washing, then do a Soduko in The Hutte.   After all that, I'll be ready for morning coffee.  When I think about it;  I'm ready for morning coffee now!.... having been 'working' in the bathroom.  Kettle 'on'!  19.15    Today has me thinking Summer thoughts;  it has been a really beautiful sunny, and warm, day in KY9.    The 'light showers' showers missed us;  all we had were some bonnie clouds.    It was too hot ...

7th June 2026 (Sunday)     17.00 .... I've been busy today:  having been to Methil to visit Alice, then, after a cuppa we went to Home Bargains to buy some  vital bits and pieces.    Unfortunately I forgot to update  'The Hutte' before going out.   As ever the roads were busy, but this applies to the whole of the UK;  and probably most of the planet where humans live!   The increase in car numbers is obviously related to the increase in the human population since WWII. Alice and I got the shopping done, and I got the things I wanted (a new shower curtain, and mat for the bath)!    And some food.   Mission accomplished!    Back at Alice HQ we had lunch, including Eton Mess (Alice version).    Main course?.... chicken in sauce ,with vegetables and Jersey tautties.   I won't need much for dinner tonight! I'd just moored the car up at Ivy Cottage gate to unload me messages,...

6th June 2026  (Saturday)      82nd Anniversary of the D Day landings in Normandy. 09.45     The sun was shining at 07.00:  since then the sky has clouded over... but it's isn't raining, though drizzle is mentioned in the weather forecast.    The 'plan' was to go to Methil, and Leven this morning, but I've had a migraine, so will do the visiting tomorrow.    We could get 'sunny spells';  the sky isn't heavily overcast. This will be a potter around Ivy day:   tidying up for Janice and Michael arriving next week.   Mind you, I don't visualise  much 'work' being done until after I have morning coffee:  I need something to get me into gear.    15.15    I went out to The Hutte pick up the glass cleaner squirter;  and did a couple of Soduko's when out there.   I can tell you it is not warm today!... and I suspect that the beach will not be busy!   I am n...

5th June 2026 (Friday)     09.45 .... We have a lovely morning here in KY9;   sunny, with clouds scuttling over on a fresh WNW wind.    light rain showers are forecast , but at the moment it's just a nice, fresh, morning.   Me?..... I'm feeling brighter:  not quite bushy tail;ed' but definitely brighter.    And, I think I have solved the problem I had yesterday with my asthma!    The Lilac Tree!..... I'm allergic to the blossom.    Every time I went out to the gate yesterday, my breathing was affected by something.    Heather and Ray came down for coffee and a chat in the evening, and it wasn't until I was saying cheerio, at the gate, that I suddenly realised that my breathing had deteriorated.   I had to use the 'bloo' inhaler.   Anyway I had a good night's sleep, and have taken an anti-histamine pill, so I'm almost ready to do some gentle 'pottering' around Ivy.   I...

4th June 2026 (Thursday)     09.15 ..... After a dull, wet start to the morning the sky is beginning to break up, with a lot of blue bits beginning to show:  we should have sunny spells soon.   And a more breathable air.    Gills were required to extract oxygen from the muggy, wet air we had first thing.   Heavy showers are mentioned in the weather forecast;  but they might miss us.   I hope they do.   The 'plan' was to go to Methil, and Leven today, but that has been put back on the shelf until the weather settles down.    14.30    Twice I  thought of going up to the sear at the 17th green with the camera;  and both times a shower started just after I got to the gate.   And it looks like another shower is coming in soon. I phoned Alice to tell her I wouldn't be visiting today;  and found that Alice is 'under the weather' too.   In my case I think it's the we...

3rd June 2026 (Wednesday)     09.00 .... We have a a quiet, cloudy, start to the day;  and heavy showers forecast, with the chance of thunder.    It doesn't look like being a good drying day..... and I have one sheet to wash.    Friday looks more promising as a drying day,   Today's plan? .....  make an appointment to get my haircut;  it's beginning to bother me. 10.15    Haircut organised (12.00), and the last piece of bedding (sheet) in the washing machine.   I don't expect it will be out on the line today, but I'll see what the weather is doing later;  at the moment it's cloudy, but not raining. 14.30    The rain showers have been with us since 11.30, with very short intervals between showers:  in fact I's say we've had one long shower, of varying intensity, since 11.30.   It's wet!    I feel much better now that I've had a haircut;  in fact I feel better almo...
