Nice morning ....

Image
31st March 2026  (Tuesday) ....  We have a bright and breezy morning, and, it's not as cold as I expected it to be when I ventured out to the gate.    If the weather stays like this I might get 'The Buggy' out sometime today.    I'm going to hang out a couple of towels, because it is a good drying day.     Ferry Road has been busy with vehicles this morning;   I suspect 'The Buggy' won't be going further than the patio. 19.30    It has been a bonnie, mostly sunny, day;  and it's quite mild now.   I have had an enjoyable day, driving to Leven and Methil, annoying Alice, shopping at Sainsbury's (the shop was quiet), back to Alice HQ for a picnic lunch,    Alan (Alice's son in law) arrived, driving his Mum's Wheelchair accessible car.    The wheelchair fits in where the front seat would normally be, so perfect for Irene being taken out for a run, with a front seat view of the scenery. ...

30th March 2026 (Monday)      10.45 .... We have a lovely sunny morning;  potentially a good drying day, but occasional squally showers could blunder their way across.    Am I going to worry about squally showers?..... no, because I've just hung out a washing.   There's a grand drying wind at present;  so washing should dry quickly.   I am now beginning the 'rest' part of my day!   Kettle 'on', and have morning coffee in The Hutte.    Might even find a 'goodie' to go with the coffee. 19.15    As a 'rest day' I'd say this has been a good one!    It has been a mix of 'work' (doing the weekend washing) and sorting out postcards in my 'new' work space;....  the Hutte'!    I am so chuffed with 'The Hutte' being back to 'normal';  I had morning coffee in it, watched the washing blowing in the wind (and untangled a sheet when it tangled up with the Apple tree), fed 'Blob'when he ...

Windy and wet .....

29th March 2026 (Sunday)     09.30 .... It's windy (F4 Westerly) and wet just now, but there should be sunny spells in the afternoon.    This means that I will clean the inside of the Hutte windows in the morning, and the outsides in the afternoon.   That is the work 'plan' for today:  that, and doing some light housework. To have 'The Hutte' back as a place to relax and think;  (even fall asleep) is fantastic.     I intended having morning coffee out there today;  but that has been put on hold.   Iain and Jackie are on their way home, so I'm going to have another cuppa, that make start on cleaning the windows.      16.45    'The Hutte' windows have been cleaned;  in fact they are so clean that,  if it wasn't for the reflections, you wouldn't know there was glass there at all.   Anyway, that's the windows cleaned, and and The Hutte fully operational.    I sh...

28th March 2026 (Saturday)     09.00 .... It's a lovely, sunny morning, but my word, .... it's cold!  There's a wintry feel to a fresh Westerly wind, so definitely a a wrap up well day.   Having said that it will be warm sheltered from the wind, as it will be in Kellie Castle garden;  which is where we will be after morning coffee.    I'm going to make another cuppa, before venturing out to check the thermometer! 21.30    My word..... I am shattered after  a busy day 'working' in the garden.    The greenhouse is tidier, and 'The Hutte', having been cleaned out, (and 'oovered) is, once again suitable for having morrrrrrrrrrning coffee in... and afternoon tea!    This could of course be 'fake' News.    replace 'I am', in then first line of this update, with 'Jackie and Iain' and you have the actual true 'News'.    They have done a brilliant job of tidying up, and de- cluttering.  ...

Nice morrrrrrrrrning .... ....

27th March 2026 (Friday) ....  "Happy Birthday" to Michael:  63 .... oops ... er ...29 today!    Enjoy your day. 08.45    We have a nice morning here;  and, although there's a light breeze it doesn't feel that cold.  Maybe  I haven't woken up yet,  but it certainly isn't as cold as it was yesterday.    There's lot of light cloud at the moment  but the sun is trying hard to burn that off:  "sunny intervals with a moderate breeze is forecast for KY9.   I'm going to have another cuppa then run round with the 'Hoover' before Jackie and Iain arrive. 17.30     Jackie and Iain arrived at around 13.00 so I have caught up with the Auchnagatt 'News'.    Since then Iain has set up the Digital photo-frame; and sent a mixed batch of photographs to it.   He has also sent the 'code ' to the troops, North and South, so we could have a varied batch of photies tomorrow.    While...

26th March 2026 (Thursday)     09.45 .... It's a lovely, sunny, morning.... but there's a cold breeze so cold out in the open.    Iain just phoned to say that he forgot he has a Dental appointment first thing tomorrow morning, so they (Jackie and Iain) won't arrive until nearer lunch time... on Friday.   I just remembered, I put a washing on a while ago;  it will be ready to hang out.    It's a good drying day ... but it will be cauld on the hands hanging out washing!    I'll put the kettle on before I go out! 15.00   It was cold hanging out the washing:  actually that reminds me... the washing must be almost dry.  I'll check after this update.   Drizzle is mentioned for the afternoon, and I'd rather bring in the washing than let it get wet again. I went to the Chemist to pick up my prescription this morning;  Elie seemed to be busy, with traffic so I didn't hang around.   With ...

25th March 2026 Wednesday)     08.45 .... The patio thermometer is at 3.9C just now... and there a frisky wind from the NNW so it's chilly when out in the open.    I was thinking of going to Leven to go shopping, but the temporary traffic lights at the bottom of Largo brae will be a nuisance:  I imagine there will be queues at busy times, over the Easter holiday break.   I'll probably end up going East;  to 'The Store' in Ainster. 17.00    We've enjoyed a nice, sunny day;  albeit with a cold Northerly wind.    I  went to 'The Store' and did a bigger shopping than I meant to have;  however it was all vital, with very few 'goodies'.     The roads were quiet on the way along, but the back road was busy on the way home.    That said I actually enjoyed driving today.    This is Easter weekend so our wee villages will be busy.    I've been reasonably busy;  I pott...

24th March 2026 (Tuesday)     11.45    We have nice day here in Elie and Earlsferry;  it's breezy so a wrap up day if out in the open.    I feel much better now that I've had my haircut;  and had a wee run up to Kinneuchar to get a few photographs.  The 'plan' is to tidy the kitchen, now that I'm feeling better;  but I don't intend  overdoing the 'work' thing.   Anyway, there's not that much needing to be done.  17.30    We've had a nice afternoon;  the wind moderated, and the squally showers missed us.... and I had a long siesta in the afternoon.  I feel much better now.   I did some 'work' in the kitchen; but not much!   I think I'll be a bundle of action tomorrow. It's strange how a simple thing like a haircut can make me feel better;   it reaches a stage where it is uncomfortably long;  especially the eyebrows!   Anyway Lorraine sorts it all ou...

23rd March 2026 (Monday)     13.30 .... It's cloudier now that it was in the morning, but still a nice enough  day.... in spite of a chilly breeze.    I had to go to Elie to hand in a prescription, so I thought I'd take a face mask with me.    Unfortunately, when I went to put on the mask at Elie;  nae mask.   (I found it lying on the kitchen table).   I dashed in and out of the Chemist's, \and didn't go to the paper shop.   However, I did bo for a run in the car, that took in the harbour, Balbuthie Loan, and Kinneuchar.   That gives me photies tae 'play' with in the evening. The doorbell rang about 11.30;  I then remembered that Alice had said there would be a 'delivery about that time.   I went to the door.... and was surprised to find that Alice was the 'delivery'.   She had brought a picnic lunch, birthday present and card(s).    Aye ... this is my birthday:...

22nd March 2026 (Sunday)     09.15 .... It's a nice morning;  slightly mistier than it has been, but 'sunny spells' will come once the sun gets going.  I've had o phone Iain and Jackie, and put them off until later in the week;  I'm choked up with a cold.      I was sneezing a couple of days ago,  so should have guessed it was the start of a cold.   I'll spend the next couple of days pottering around Ivy;  and, I've got a book to read!   Luckily I managed to get most of the 'work' stuff done;  only got to run round wi' the 'oover and flick things wi' the feather duster.   I'll do that on Tuesday.   In the meantime I'm going to feed the 'Blob' and 'Blobette' team. 20.00   It has been a nice, sunny day, but the cooler air that is forecast had arrived at KY9.    As planned I stayed in.   I did some research on the computer;  and watched 'Bridge on the Rive...

21st March 2026 (Saturday)     "Happy Birthday" to Iain.   He will be 6?.... oh, my word;  that is auld! 10.15 .... we have a bonnie, sunny mornin;  and warm, with a light breeze.   There is a light mist ;  I cannae see the 'Sooth side o' the Firth (East Lothian), but it's a good drying day so I have a small washing out.    'Blob' is definitely 'in love';  he, and 'Blobbette' seems to be thinking of nesting in the Ivy bush.   I might get 'The Buggy' out later;  once the temperature gets up a bit.   I was thinking of going to the harbour but the roads will be busy.... so, Chapel Green it shall be!    Ferry Road is busy.  17.15    It has been a nice, sunny day, and although warm on the patio, folk coming up from the beach were well wrapped up.  There has been a chill in the air all day; so it would be cold on the beach and the harbour.   I didn't go out on '...

20th March 2026 (Friday)    09.45 .... The sun is burning off the early morning fog and we should  have  lovely, peaceful, sunny and warm day ahead.    I'll get 'The Buggy' out in the afternoon, if the roads aren't busy.   It's not the best kind of ;drying day' but I might do a washing;  KY9 could be warm later.   'Blob' was twittering happily this morning;  it could be that he is 'in love'.   Spring is definitely in the air.   That said it is March, and the weather can be varied;  even snow, as in 1947!   Off to do some 'work'!   After I put the kettle 'on'. 16.15    This has been a beautiful Spring day;  sunny and warm, with only a light breeze.     I actually did 'work' things this morning:  the single bed has been stripped and the bedding.   A bit more breeze would have been better for drying the bedding, but I'll iron it later and ha...

19th March 2026 (Thursday)    09.30 .... We have a lovely morning...."sunny with a light, Easterly  breeze" (8.8C) on the patio thermometer at present).   I have washed another two jerseys;  it should be a good drying day;  that said, light cloud could come in from the North Sea.   Don't want that to happen!    As planned I got up early to go out on the bike, but the chilly air at the time made me change my mind about that.    Ferry Road is busy now.  14.15    My word.... Spring has sprung right enough;  we have a gorgeous sunny, and warm, (17.3C on the patio thermometer) day at KY9.   I went to the paper shop, and to the harbour;   even down there it was comfortably warm.   I got a good selection of photographs to play with.   Unfortunately GIMP crashed on me so I can't 'play' with them until Iain comes down at the weekend.   He will reload GIMP....

18th March  2026 (Wednesday)     09.30 .... We have a lovely sunny, and warm morning;  in fact it could be the warmest day of the year so far down in 'Sunny Sussex':  unfortunately for us there's a cold front moving in.  That said,  it' a lovely morning just now.  I was looking forward to going to the Friendship Lunch at Colinsburgh today,  but I'll have to put that off as I'm feeling under the weather.    It's an interesting ailment is asthma (frustrating but interesting), yesterday was a brilliant day for me;  today? .... not so brilliant.  Probably the cold front already moving in!   I'll stay 'in' most of the day, but might go for a run in the car in the afternoon.   Must remember to phone Myra. 19.00    My word ... it has been a beautiful Spring day;  the temperature on the patio was at 15.2C at one point;  the warmest day patio this year, so far.   I'm looking d...

17th March 2026 (Tuesday)     St Patrick's Day.    09.15 .... It's a nice morning; and. although windy ,it's a warmer wind than we had for the past few weeks.  Actually strong winds are forecast, for the middle of the day.   I've hung out a washing;  it's certainly a good drying day.   There's low chance of a shower in the morning, but I'm feeling positive.    I'll have another cuppa then got ready to go to Methil and Leven. 19.00    It has been a nice day;  and a pleasantly warm one.   I enjoyed my morning 'annoying' Alice;  and the bit of retail therapy in Sainsbury's.   As is normal nowadays the roads were extremely busy:  I don'tb think I'll ever get used to just how busy the roads are now compared to not that many tears ago.   I suppose the fact that the East Neuk has a lot of Air B n B properties will account for some of the increase. As you can see in the top p...

16th March 2026 (Monday)     10.00 .... It's a nice morning, but there's ac .hilly wind.   The sky was mostly blue when I got up (07.00)  but is cloudier now with cloud, and rain, moving in from the Southwest.  Rain is forecast to arrive in the afternoon.    I'm going to have a quiet day working between the computer and doing 'ousework.   Jackie and Iain are coming down next weekend so I'd best run round wi' the 'oover! I see on the News that President Trump is becoming more agitated;  tariffs could be back on the menu for those countries that don't join him (the USA), in getting getting the the Strait of Hormuz open to shipping again.   The war to bring 'Peace to the Middle East' is proving to be trickier than when it began 17 days ago.    You'd think that, after Vietnam, the USA would know that 'Might is not Right'. 14.30    We've been lucky with the weather so far today;  after a few spits ...

15th March 2026 (Sunday)     10.15 .... It's overcast with drizzle,  a brisk Southwesterly wind;  not a pleasant morning, but it is slightly warmer it has been even, in the brisk wind.    It's 8.5C on the patio thermometer.   Actually, I don't think I'll be going much further that the patio thermometer today.   Unless 'sunny spells' come our way in the afternoon;  which might happen, as I'm feeling positive! I watched Ed Milliband being interviewed by 'Laura' this morning.   He (Ed Milliband) is one of those politicians that believe is putting all your eggs in one basket when it comes to 'green' options:    Renewable energy or else;  which is in theory ideal.    However if the basket drops off the handle, you end up with a lot of broken eggs... and a useless basket.   Green and renewable energy is  the right idea! ... but it has to be brought in sensibly.    The other...

14th March 2026 (Saturday)     10.45 .... Two blokes om motor bikes went Ferry Road;  and I thought it was cold.    The were well wrapped up in motorbike gear, but it isn't wart here m out this morning!.... especially on a motor bike.    Me?.... I've had a short walk, from the back door to the patio thermometer (and back).     There was a touch of frost last night;  down to - 0.9C    It was 6.8C when I was out there.    I very much doubt if I'll be going far today;  but I might make it as far as the car. and have a short run up to Chapel Green later.    It's far too cold to get 'The Buggy' out.   My word;  .The two motorbike have just gone down Ferry Road again... they must be admiring 'The Ferry'... I can understand that!   When I think about it;  only a year ago I'd have been out on the bike, enjoying the fresh air!     That reminds me .... I mus...

13th March 2026 (Friday)     11.00 .... It's a nice morning, but there is a frisky breeze, so there's wind chill;  it's cauld on the lugs, but there's a lot o' fresh air out there.    I've been up to Elie, and remembered to get the paper.    Because of the wind I didn't go down to the harbour;  it was windy and cold on the High Street. so it would be bitterly cold at the harbour.  Anyway I got a few 'today' photies so I'm a 'happy boy';  and     I might go out in the afternoon, if the wind moderates a bit.  15.00   I'm glad I went out in the morning;  because we've had sunny spells with squally showers in the afternoon.... and a noticeable drop in temperature.   A nice enough afternoon between the showers, but much colder.    The new parking  restrictions outside the shops is much better for shoppers.   No parking the car for the day to go for a walk along the Coa...

12th March 2026   (Thursday)     10.00 .... It  is not a bonnie morning here in KY9, but not as wild as I though it was when I first when out to the bucket.   When putting in my hearing aids I must have inadvertently pressed the volume  button.   The wind sounded like a howling gale.     All sounds  normal now on Ferry Road.   WE have a wet and windy morning, but there are slightly promising brighter bits in the sky.   However it's to be mostly windy and wet all day.    I'll do computer work.... and some ironing. 15.30  Although still windy, the rain had moved away, so  I ventured out to the car.... and had a run up to Chapel Green, to get a breath of fresh air.    Well, Chapel green had an abundance of that (fresh air);  there was a half gale blowing.   And it was cauld.    I had a short walk across The Green, took a few 'Today' photographs, a...
