Cloudless sky.

22nd May 2025 (Thursday)     08,30 .... We have a cloudless sky, with a cool NE wind this

morning;  and there's a nice fresh feel to the air.  Having said that, if the wind  freshens it will feel cold out in the open.   This is the Spring Bank Holiday weekend  (Bank holiday on Monday) so I have no doubt the villages will be busy, even though (much needed) rain is forecast.

19.45    I enjoyed my shopping expedition with Alice.... only went to Sainsbury's.   Shopping expedition?   That reminds me I bought Iced lollies.   I'll have one after this  'short' update.   That's it.   The 'update' i.e.    I'll be back in ten minutes or so:  depends on how warm it is outside sitting in the evening sunshine.

20.00   The lolly was refreshing but it was just too chilly to sit outside, so had it while watching a bit o' "Last of the Summer Wine".   After the lollipop I watered the tubs, and put the kettle on.   I'll be havin' a cuppa after this short update.

Now back to the shopping.   Sainsbury's was busy this morning, including the checkouts, but we got through fairly quickly.   As ever the roads were busy, including Ferry Road.   Anyway I got the shopping into Ivy and put away;  and, by the time that was done I was well ready for a cuppa, I can tell you.   I've just remembered that I put the kettle 'on' .... I'll have a cuppa than do another update after that.

22.30    I see on the News that the Government has agreed a deal with Mauritius re the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean.  We hand the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, then lease back the Top Secret Military base on Diego Garcia for £101 million pounds a year for 99 years.   Considering the speed that technology is developing at, the base on Diego Garcia probably won't be needed in 40 years:  if that does turn out to be the case, Mauritius are going to do well out of the deal.
Of course the politicians might have had a Clause written into the Agreement that would  stop us having
to pay the annual 'rent money', if the Diego Garcia Base becomes redundant before the 99 years is up.   Maybe I should stop watching the 'News'.   I won't.   I am thinking of the Winter Fuel payment as I write this.
Tomorrow is going to be another sunny day.   Actually I might get up early and take a turn round the village on the bike;  the weather is forecast to be unsettled for a few days, starting with Saturday.
