Wall to wall blue sky ....

Image
22nd August 2026  (Saturday)     I'll start by wishing Janice a "Happy Birthday":   have a lovely weekend at the New Forest. xxx  10.45 .... we have a 'wall to wall' blue sky just now; so I can't tell from which direction the breeze is coming, because there are no clouds.   However, the Flag on the third green suggests a light breeze from the NW just now.   My breathing is reasonable this morning;  but that last cold I had, has left it's mark there's no doubt about that.  However, I'm looking forward to next Friday, when I have an appointment with the Asthma Nurse.   I can't go jogging like this!.... but I'm feeling 'playful'. 16.00    It's too hot to sit in The Hutte, so I came in to play with the few photographs I got this morning when up at Elie.   From that you will have deduced that we have a lovely sunny day here.  There's more cloud about now;  but the sun  doesn't hide...

Light cloud ....

21st August 2026   (Friday)     09.45 .... There's a washing going through the machine just now;  but I'm beginning to wonder about hanging it out just yet.   I've seen on the weather forecast that there's a chance of showers just now;  I'll hang it out after morning coffee. It's a nice morning with broken light cloud, and patches of blue sky, moving over on a cool NE breeze!  We should have sunny spells now and again.    16.45   Sunny spells?.... we've had a sunny spell all afternoon;  a bonnie, sunny day in fact.   The wind, being from the North, would make it cool on the beach.    I didn't go sown to fins out. I've had really lazy day;  I've been feeling like I'd done a hard day's work yesterday.   Which I hadn't!  Then again driving is tiring so maybe that's what did it.   When Iain is here he does all the driving;  I pretend I'm on the top deck of a '95' bus...

Nice, fresh morning ....

20th August 2026 (Thursday)      09.45 .... We have a brisk breeze from the North this morning, bringing a  nice fresh feeling to the air.     Light rain is forecast  to move across us in the early afternoon, but should clear away by evening time.   Me? .... I'm beginning to think positively again:  not quite ready to go 'out to play', but I'm feeling generally better. 19.00    I was feeling fairly adventurous after lunch o I decided to go to 'The Store' to get a few bits and pieces.    The Store was the excuse I needed, to go for a run in the car. The temporary traffic lights, at 'Bob Hanley's'  former Garage site, are a bit of a nuisance;  but we eventually got through.    There's going to be some difference at that corner;  actually no... it's not the corner that's going to be different, it's the houses that make up the former Garage site, of 'Bob's Corner' that will be different. An...

Cloudy with blue patches .....

19th August 2026 (Wednesday)    08.45 .... Although the sky is mostly cloudy, it's a nice enough morning;  and, with a few blue patches in the cloud we could get a few sunny spells.    Heavy, thundery showers, are forecast for the afternoon.   I was thinking of doing a washing!.... but that has been cancelled.  14.45    We haven't had any of the heavy showers forecast,  but I can see the big old shower clouds at various points of the compass, so we might catch a shower.    When I think of it I could have done the washing!   So far I have been 'lazy' today.    I went to Elie  (Chemist) to get something to clear up a throat infection (Thrush),  brought on by the pills I was taking.   According to the leaflet I should be frolicking about in a couple of days.    I'm looking forward to that. 20.00    A heavy shower has come our way at last, to water the flower tubs;...

Bright and breezy morning ....

18th August 2026 (Tuesday)     This is a sad old day for the Lawrie Family;  it was on on this date, 17 years ago,  that Maggie suddenly died.   She is still 'The Boss';  and I have suddenly remembered that there's 'ooverin' and dustin' to be done!   Actually I haven't;  Iain did it before he went home!  09.00 .... After the rain last night, there's fresher feel to the air this morning;  in fact it feels 'cold', compared to the temperatures we've had lately, because of the frisky Westerly wind.    I have to stay around Ivy until the tradesman appears, so will have a quiet day.  The after effects of the pills I had, are still bothering me, so a lot of my time will be spent in The Hutte;  doing Soduko's and 'cat napping'.    But I am feeling more positive again. 12.00   The plumber came to fit the toilet seat extension, but it wasn't suitable for the toilet seat in Ivy.   I ...

17th August 2026 (Monday)      10.30 ..... Although light rain is forecast for KY9, it hasn't arrived yet;  so we have a 'nice' morning.    I can't see the 'Glenfuir' Union Flag at the bottom of the Wynd;  that means the breeze, and the light rain, is coming off the North Sea.   It's warmer than I thought it was going to be;  but, thankfully, not hot!    Actually it was warm in bed last night;  I woke up a couple o' times.... even with the  fan 'on'.   I'll fall asleep at morning coffee time;  if not before.    I keep drifting off sitting in front of the computer. 19.30    Sleep?   I've been sleeping on and off all day:  apparently it's one of the after effects of the pills wearing off.   Tomorrow? ..... I'm looking forward to frolicking around Ivy. We've had a nice, mostly sunny day, but the rain has moved in, and we could have a wet night.  ...

LIght rain ....

16th August 2026 (Sunday)     09.30 .... We have a lovely, cool morning with much needed light rain:  that said, the farmers that have started the harvest won't be wanting rain just now.    Anyway, light rain we have, along with a comfortable temperature.... and nae dust.   However the sky is brightening up so the light rain might be replaced by sunny spells. 20.00    We ended up with a warm and sunny afternoon.  It has been a day of mixed weather:  we had damp start to the day, and it looks like we could have a damp end to the day, with the sun in the afternoon to keep the holiday makers happy. Iain did a lot of work when he was here, including prune the Apple tree.   After he set off for home, I had a cuppa, then decided to have a catnap on my bed.   That was a mistake.   The sun was shining and it was hot outside;  and inside with the sun shining in the bedroom window.     ...

Nice morning ....

15th August 2026 (Saturday)    09.15 .... Iain is away for a walk with the camera, to get a few photographs of insects.   This is the best time of time of year for insects 'being on the wing'.   Me? ..... I'm having a cuppa before getting into 'ready to go shopping' mode.    Yesterday was a busy day mentally, and physically, so I am tired today:  even after a good night's sleep!    It's a lovely sunny,  fresh feeling morning just now:  I'm hoping it isn't going to be hot. 21.30    We eventually went to Sainsbury's (Leven)  after lunch, because Iain managed to get a photo of a 'new' butterfly for this area.   I forget it's name, but it has moved up from England and  arrived in Scotland a few of years ago.    So this excitement delayed  the shopping trip.  Sainsbury's wasn't very busy, which was surprising because the roads were.   Of course there are more exciting...

14th August 2026 (Friday)    10.15 .... We have a 'bright and breezy' morning here at KY9;  but there's a dark cloud coming over from the West, so the 'bright' is not going to last much longer:  but it's only a big cloud, so it will pass over us.   At the moment the temperature is 20C. I've been busy with a phone call from a lassie at the Community Alarm Office;  someone will be coming out to deal with that.  She, the  lassie said that she would get the OT (Occupational Therapy) Team phone me, to arrange a visit.    Looks like there will be plenty folk to talk to.    22.45   I was sitting in The Hutte setting up a Soduko when Iain arrived ,about 11.00,   The Soduko was abandoned and we had a cuppa, before dealing with incoming telephone calls:  in fact we've had a busy, and successful day.    Having health problems when you get older, isn't quite as worrying as I first thought it was go...

13th August 2026 (Thursday)     10.00 .... It's hot already, and is to be hot all day;  so I won't be going very far from Ivy.   I'm going to hang out a small washing, and open up The Hutte;   then have morning coffee.  I might sit in The Hutte, but suspect that it will be too hot.   Iain is coming down tomorrow, for the weekend, and we're going to organise things;  for when I'm 'auld'.  Such as the Community Alarm.    That reminds me;  I'm going to put the mobile on charge. 14.30     It's uncomfortably hot and humid just now;  25.4C on the thermometer.    That's definitely in the shade, because the sun is behind clouds.   I was out checking how the washing was doing and it's nearly dry.   I'll bring it in about 16.00.... after this oppressive heat drops a few degrees.   I've got the fan on beside me;  and a glass of cold water.    T...

My favourite view of Ferry Corner. 12th August 2026 (Wednesday)      10.15 .... It's already warm out, so it's going to be hot this afternoon:  a lovely day for the beach... or golf course.    Me? ..... I'll potter around Ivy.    I've taken the pills, so now ready to 'work';  work on the computer, because it will be too hot for me outside.   I've been as far as the gate, and will open The Hutte up after this update;  but won't be sitting in there very long!  13.45     I've been a busy boy on the computer:  dealt with a couple of official emails, and had a browse in the Alberto Archive.    I'm now going to have something to eat. 20.00    It has been too hot for me today;  I opened up The Hutte but never spent any time sitting out there.   That reminds I must remember to close The Hutte door after this update. 'Then'. I've had someone trying to get me on the mobile phon...

11th  August 2026 (Tuesday)      09.45 .... It's a lovely morning;  there's a bit of light cloud about with loads of sunny intervals.   Perfect weather for the beach.   I'm planning on having a 'rest' day;  then I remembered the last time I was on Prednisolone Tablets!   That time (10 years ago), I took them with my evening meal.    Later on in the evening I decided to 'Spring' clean the bookcases.    I began to do that at 21.00,  enjoying myself so much that I kept going until after 03.00 next morning.   My cousin Jimmy up in Aberdeenshire was on them at the dame time, and he also couldn't stop working!   So I'm taking them (the pills)  at breakfast time.  If I do go into 'work mode', I don't think I'll be tackling the book cases!   With this pill,  'Work Mode' starts on Day two. 20.30   I've had a quirt, relaxing day.   Alice came alon...

Elie 10th August 2026 (Monday .... At last I've got round to updating The Hutte;  after an eventful night;  and  things to do this morning, because of the eventful night.     Anyway, I called out the Para Medics, in the middle of the night, because I had a really bad breathing event,  when I went for a 'pee' at 01.00.    And I didn't have my Blue Inhaler with me!  Having this 'bug' and asthma is not a good combination when it comes to the breathing tubes.  I went back to bed thinking it would calm  but it didn't so I eventually  dialled '999' about 02.00!    Three lady NHS Para Medics (from Glenrothes) arrived about 02.30:  and they were absolutely brilliant   Not only did they arrive much sooner than I expected, but they gave me a really good check over.   The result of all this is that I have an appointment with Dr Miller at Elie Surgery this afternoon.    I'm going to have ...

Light rain .....

9th August 2026 (Sunday)     09.15 .... We have light rain on a moderate Westerly breeze;  but the overcast sky has pale bits in it;    we could have brighter afternoon.     At the moment it's dull and wet!    But the 'wet' didn't bother the two joggers that went down Ferry Road a wee while ago.   I might have a wee run in the car later.   20.15    The  rain  had moved away by mid morning, but the cloud stayed around  until early afternoon.    Since then we've had sunny spells with a moderate breeze.    It's a lovely evening now, but  was busy doing a hard Soduko. A lot of my time this morning was taken up making 'Mince and Tatties':  that was dinner for tonight, and will be tomorrow.    I might freeze one meal. A few minutes ago, I accidentally elbowed the 'mouse' off it's pad, and went to pick it up.    I couldn't see it:   i...

Light cloud ....

8th August 2026 (Saturday)      10.30 .... There's a lot of light cloud;  but there are patches of blue sky, so we should have sunny spells.    The air feels cooler to me, but that's probably because the sun is behind the cloud at the moment.    I'm going to be lying low again;  hoping that the sun does break through, so that I can spend time in The Hutte.   I got up at my usual time this morning, but haven't actually been outside.   I'll have morning, in The Hutte, coffee after this update. 17.00    It has been a mostly overcast kind of day;  we did have a sunny spell  around lunchtime, and that brought out some Large White butterfly's  but it was too windy to photographs them.    I've been 'resting' in The Hutte most of the time, doing Soduko's.   It was warm when the sun was out, but it turns much cooler when the sun disappeared again;   so I have abandoned be...

7th August 2026 (Friday)     10.30 .... Oops .... I 'slept in' this morning, waking, and getting out of bed  up at 08.45.   I'm feeling almost  'bright eyed and bushy tailed';  compared to what I have been like, for the past couple of days.   Anyway, it's a bonnie morning here in KY9.... a good drying day, for the downie cover that is going through the washing machine as I type.    20.00    I have a bit of Buddleia growing on the front wall, normally I have cut it back as soon as it gets going, but this year I haven't been able to do that;  anyway (more about 'anyway' later) I'm glad that I didn't prune ir.... it was living up to it's name thus afternoon ... the Butterfly Bush!    At one point it had three Painted Lady's, a Peacock, and a Red Admiral feeding on the flowers.       It was too windy to get a decent photograph of them on the bush, but I got one of a Painted Lady, baskin...

Light cloud .....

6th August 2026 (Thursday)     09.15 .... I expected a brighter start to the morning.   We have a grey sky just now, and all the Fife Weather cams have a cloudy, but there are a few brighter patches, so we might get 'sunny spells' later.     Me? ...... I've reached the conclusion that this is a flu' bug;  not a summer cold as I originally thought.   I've had the 'flu jab so it should be mild.    Mild... Man 'Flu?     I've taken the pills, but the scientists have yet to invent a pill that can combat 'Man 'flu'.   I'll be lying low for the next couple of days.   18.30    I've had a lazy day, but I id manage to wash and hang out a couple of sheets.   That leaves the downie cover for tomorrow:     The weather has been fine today, but much colder than  of late:  I put the heating on to help me shake of this /bug'.    I'll have toddie and...
