Nice morrrrrning .....

31st July 2024   (Wednesday)    08.45 .... It's bright and sunny with a light breeze from the NW....

there's actually an autumnal feel to the air;  I'd better check the trees to see if the leaves are changing colour!    It was really warm last night (certainly not autumnal) which meant another restless night.    I'm as organised as I can be for Michael and Janice coming... the train arrives at Leuchars about 15.30.   Slight 'Flap On' now.... got to have breakfast before I do a shopping.

21.00    I've a relaxing day... and feel the best I've felt for about six weeks.    I had a quick trip to the Store to buy foodstuff, then a quiet run home via the 'back roads' (Arncroach).    I then had '50' before setting off for Leuchars to meet the Aiberdeen train at 15.34.   The the road between Cairnie crossroads and Peat Inn is being resurfaced so there are speed restrictions in place.   Most people were sticking to around the recommended speed, but there are always the few who totally ignore them, and rush past, scattering stones and dust everywhere.   Any way I got there, with 10 minutes to spare, so wandered from the Car Park, over the railway bridge to the platforms.   As I mentioned above this has been the best day for a while and I actually enjoyed wandering over the bridge to meet Janice and Michael.   Michael drove on the way home, and I sat in the front seat and photographed .   It's the first time that I have done the Strathkinnes road.

Janice and Michael made dinner... sausages peas and tautties and, my word it was delicious.   Lately I have been but more 'ready meals' rather than doing my own;  but 'home cooking' is by far the best if you can do it.... and I can;  now that I'm feeling better.

This is the kind of weather we need for the next couple of months;  to build us up for winter.    Vitamin 'D' is what I need now that I'm not going out on the bike so much.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
