Quiet morning .....
6th July 2024 (Saturday) 09.30 .... We've had some overnight rain and there's still a lot ofHeavy rain clouds over Ferry Road.
clouds around: thundery showers are mentioned in our weather forecast for today.... so there could be interesting clouds later. At the moment it's a quiet peaceful kind of morning; mostly overcast, with only a light breeze, so not as cold as it has been.
14.00 We have a wet, dreich afternoon; it's a good job the 'le Tour' is on because it's a hilly stage (8) with a breakaway. so interesting to catch up with at regular intervals. I'm making up the bed.... only as far the insertin' the downie intae it's cover; that job is beyond me. That said.... I have graduated from crawlin' aboot inside the cover, to usin' claes pegs on the corners..... but I think I'm still doin' something wrong! I'll look it up on YouTube.
I was catnappin' about an hour ago when I was suddenly wakened up by the loudest noise I have ever heard; it sounded like someone was drilling into Ivy Cottage wall. I'm hard o' hearing but the workmen doing that drilling must be totally deaf. I put the kettle on and ventured out (where the noise was really loud) and saw that the workmen were fitting a downpipe onto the wall next door (Balvonie). I also found out that it was bucketin' rain at the time. I enjoyed a cuppa, had a quick glimpse of progress on le Tour..... then put the bottom sheet on the bed. It's all 'go' at Ivy today. And.... this is the good 'news'; the sun is breaking through! Bad 'news' .... it's still rainin'!
19.30 When the showers eventually arrived they were definitely of the 'thundery' variety; luckily the actual thunder stayed way out over the North Sea: off Denmark at present. I never went further than Ferry Road with the camera because I made up the bed; including putting the cover on the downie. That is a major job for me..... and always has been. The claes pegs make it easier.Between showers.
21.30 It's been a wet evening and it still is. I'm going to make the bedtime chocolate and have an early night with my book. Fechtin' wi' a downie is hard work nowadays.
