31st October 2026 (Saturday)     09.15 .... I didn't get to the beach to catch the sunrise sky.  I woke up in plenty of time;  but made the basic mistake of thinking to myself, "och, you can have another half hour in bed"! .... then woke up again an hour later.    So today's sunrise sky is taken from Ivy gate... again! It's a nice morning, mostly cloudy with only a light breeze, and warm(ish).  The sun has yet to break through the cloud but we should have 'sunny intervals' by morning coffee time.   I'm going to have another cuppa, then take the 'hurdy gurdy' for a walk.

30th October 2026 (Friday)     08.45 .... We have a lovely, peaceful kind of morning here in KY9;   thin,  high cloud and sunny intervals.   There was a bright red sky at sunrise;  a "red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning" sky actually!     At the moment we have a bonnie start to the day.    That reminds me I have three jerseys for washing.   I'll do that after this update.   20.15    It has been another lovely, warm Autumn day.   Having said that;  it wasn't a good drying day;  the jerseys I hung out in the morning didn't dry!   I'll hang them out again tomorrow morning, because the forecast is, for us to have another nice, 'sunny intervals' kind of day! Shona came down in the early afternoon, so we had a sandwich lunch;  and I caught up with all the Kinneuchar news.   And we sorted out the problems of the Word;   again!  ...

29th October 2026 (Thursday)     09.15 .... It's a quiet morning in KY9;  there's a mix of light cloud and sunny spells, and.... this is the good bit...  after the past few days of strong winds, we have a light breeze.    I haven't been out yet, but I'm going to hang out the shower towels after this update. My thoughts, and prayers, this morning are with the families that have lost, or had loved ones injured in the catastrophic train collision in Spain.    And also with the people, that worked so hard rescuing those trapped in the wreckage of the two trains.  19.30    It has been good having a day with only light winds;  and , not only was the wind light, it has also been warm.    A pleasant change from the windy, and sometimes wet, weather of the past few days. 28th October 2026    10.00 ....We have a mixed, mostly cloudy sky with occasional  blue patches, and the threat of showers.   However the wind has moderated to around F3 so it is'n as cold as it was yesterday.   I think the cloud will break up, ro five us sunny spells;  and the 'drying day I want (and need) for the washing!I will hang it out after this update and hope the showers miss us.    The afternoon should be dry!  20.30    Since the cloud cleared in mid morning, we've had a lovely, sunny intervals, day.    And it was warm! 27th October 2026 (Tuesday)      09.30 ..... We have a sunny, and windy, morning:  the wind kept waking me last night, so it was wild.   I suspect a slight change in wind direction meant sounds from different sources.    Anyway it was wild... and, though it has moderated, a wee bit it's still wild.     I cancelled going to Alice's because of the wind;  and a migraine first thing this morning.   One of the hardest things for me to do now is get into the car when it's windy;  is keeping a hold on the car door, when getting into the car!    Another 'side effect' of old age.   Anyway I think I'll try to do some easy 'ousework today;  however, I'll end up cat napping, because the lack of sleep.    The wind is forecast to moderate in the afternoon.    16.30    After the wind moderated a bit in the afternoon, , I had a wander up and sown Ferry Road with the new 'h...

26th October 2026 (Monday)     06.15 ..... Sunrise is at 07.05 so it's still dark, with a moderate Southwesterly  breeze.   Heavy rain is forecast to move in by mid morning.  Iain set off for home at 05.50, which is why I am 'up';  however I'm going back to bed for a couple of hours, to let the central heating warm up Ivy before I have a shower! 10.45    I'm 'up'(at 07.45) and ready for some mild action!    The sky is overcast and the rain, that is mentioned in the weather forecast for KY9, can't be far away so I won't stray far from Ivy.   Oh...and, I have been watching the News! The result of the election in Brazil is a surprise;  and also good for the Amazon Rain Forest!   There's no doubt that the defeated candidate (Bolsonoro) will make governing Brazil hard, but that is expected from ultra Right Wing politicians nowadays. 25th October 2026 (Sunday).... 09.30 ..... 'Storm Boelo' gave us a wild (and wet) night;  however the rain has moved away, and we now  have a 'windy (F8 - 9) and sunny intervals' morning.   Needless to say (but I'm going to 'say' it anyway) there is wind chill, so it's cold out in the open.     With the wind direction being Westerly there is a lot of sand on the move.   High tide is at 14.06, so a lot of the sand will end up on Fountain Road, South Street and the Breakwater area.   The wind should begin to moderate in the afternoon.;  though it will still be a frisky wind... and well capable of shifting more sand when the tide goes out. 11.30    I have the feeling that the wind has started to moderate;  there are slightly bigger gaps between the gusts;  and said gusts less fierce-some.  That said it is still 'stormy' out in the open.    The temperature is 11C on the patio. 24th October 2026 (Saturday)     09.45 .... We had a quiet moonlit night, that ended with a "red sky in the morning Shepherd's warning"  sky!   Storm Boelo has yet to reach us but is on it's way;  at the moment we have a threatening grey sky with a moderate  WSW breeze but is freshening as I type.  Iain and I  haven't made up our mins about going to Kirkcaldy;  need another check on the weather.    Oh... Iain went down ro the down to take the sunrise sky! 16.30    We went to Kirkcaldy and bought a lightweight 'hurdy gurdy' (Rollator).    It's round about the same size as the one I have, but is much lighter, and I can lift it into the car boot.    The main difference with this one is that it has proper brakes,   It might be hard to believe but Rollator can 'tun away' when going down hill.     And the brakes can be 'locked' when sitting admiring the scenery ;  whic...

Iain arrived round about 09.00, before the rain which didn't get here until 10.00.   It's wet and windy now;  not a nice day to be out.   That said it's nothing like it is in the Southwest, where the full force of Storm Austen is being felt.   Rain is going to be our problem, with the strong winds of Storm Boelo hitting the Northern half of the UK on Saturday and Sunday.    A wild weekend ahead;  definitely not a day for walking the coastal path.   Could be some interesting photographs at high tide time down south! 16.30    With the weather being of the 'iffy' kind, Iain and I have been confined to the house;  Iain working on his photographs, and watching the TV. now and again, with me watching the TV.   Storm Austen has been, as forecast,... wild along the South Coast, as we have seen on the News.    Newquay b...

 22nd October 2026 (Thursday)     09.45 .... We  have a lovely morning here in KY9;  sunny with a fresh Westerly wind;  so there is a bit of wind chill.    It's a brilliant morning to be out and about;  the Fife Coastal Path will be busy today.    Maggie and I did most of the Path from Kirkcaldy to the Tay Bridge,;  until Maggie's 'nae weelness' came, and we had to stop.    I have biked the road all the way round Fife, at some time or another;  not the same I know, but I enjoyed biking!     Today? .....  will be mundane things.  I've done a washing, because it's a grand 'drying day';   but haven't decided what to do after morning coffee. 19.45     It has been 'bright and breezy' Autumn day;   and a perfect drying day!   That reminds me, I have ironing to do after this update! Ferry Road this morning 21st October 2026 (Wednesday)      10.00 .... We have a wet, and rather bleak looking morning;  not a morning to be out.    The rain might peter out after lunch, to give us few sunny spells in the evening.  The brightest thing I've seen this morning was the glint in Blob's eye when I fed him!   He's a happy boy  is 'Blob'.   I was going to take a photo of him but he's gone all camera shy! 20th October 2026 (Tuesday)    09.30 .... We have a grey sky with light rain, coming in from the North Sea, on a fresh SE breeze this morning:  it's not a "going out to play" morning.    Me? .... If I do go out, it will be in the car.  Right now I have 'Blob' to feed.   After doing that, I'll have an early morning coffee and come up with a 'plan' for today.   14.00   'Owlbert' has been a busy boy!   The early morning coffee must have activated the brain cell, and then some!  I decided to loup intae the car, and go up to Elie and make an appointment with Lorraine to have my hair cut. 19th October 2026 (Monday)    09.15 ....  the sun is burning back the early morning fog, and we now have broken cloud, with blue patches;  and blue patches mean 'sunny spells'.   There's a chilly air, about what it should be at this time of year.   It will be warmer where the sun does break through.     I don't know if the washing will dry, but it's on the line.    Unfortunately, there's a chance of showers inn the afternoon, so I am hoping the sheets are dry enough to take in, and iron by then! 20.30     We had a few sunny spells today, but mostly it has been cloudy and cold.   And damp later in the afternoon, by which time the washing was in and ready to be ironed.  I might do that after this update. 18th October 2026 (Sunday)     10.30 ....  It's an absolutely gorgeous Autumn morning;  definitely a morning to be out and about.    My plan was to go down to the beach for sunrise, but slept in, but might try to get sunset.   Unfortunately a migraine has cramped my desire to go out to play, but I've taken the pills.;  however, I think this will be a quiet day, with the washing machine! 20.30     This has been one gorgeous, albeit cool,  Autumn day;  we had wall to wall sunshine all day.   Having said that, I could have done with a bit more breeze to dry the downie cover.   But that's all I have to complain  about.  I even thought about getting 'The Buggy' out in the afternoon, but changed my mind when I saw how busy Ferry Road was at times.    So I 'walked' the 'hurdy gurdy' round the patio 10 times instead:  I'll count the number of steps that I take to go round th...

17th October 2026 (Saturday)     09.45 .... It's 6C on the thermometer at the moment;  a perfect, fresh autumnal morning to be out and about.   The Coastal path should be busy today.    'JB' is out with the camera;  I've fed 'Blob' and had my won breakfast;  and now ready to go out to play;  i.e. go up to The Hutte, with a cuppa, and have a look at a Soduko. 22.00     'JB'  is on his way home to 'Sunny Sussex' tonight.   H phoned to let me know that he is at the Edinburgh Bus Station now.    We went along to Elie to catch the 18.43 X61, which came in early.   Actually it wasn't early;  the bus that 'JB' got on in Elie, was the bus that was supposed to arrive in Elie at 18.10, but was 30 minutes late:  anyway 'JB' will be on the London Coach by now, ready to leave Edinburgh, on his way home to 'Sunny Sussex'. 16th October 2026 (Friday)       09.30  .... It's a quiet kind of morning at KY9;  'sunny spells with a moderate , Westerly breeze' is the forecast, and that is what we have.     The air is cool, but a nice morning for being out, which is where 'JB' is just now;  over at Kincraig cliffs with the camera. I've hung out a washing;  fed,  and conversed with 'Blob';  and feed myself and have a cuppa after this update.  All is good in the Royal Burgh this morning! 'JB' had a sudden change of plan when he went out this morning;  he decided to go to the Lady's Tower and lighthouse again, then through Elie Estate for a change.   he is thinking of going to do the cliffs early tomorrow morning.    Although John is  going home tomorrow, travelling overnight from Edinburgh to London by coach ,he doesn't leave Elie until 18.40.   Hence the tentative plan to do the cliffs walk, tomorrow morni...

15th October 2026 (Thursday)  16.00 .... I thought I wrote, and updated The Hutte before John and I  set off for Cupar;  but obviously I didn't.   Sorry about that.    Anyway;  the rain that was forecast for last night and into this morning had passed over before 08.00 so we had a pleasant journey to Fisher and Donaldson's.   here was some water on the roads but not what we expected.   We didn't take long to do the shopping, and came home by way of  Ceres.    We immediately had a cuppa to celebrate a successful mission. 14th October 2026 (Wednesday)     09.30 ....  It's a nice, fresh morning;  but cloud is moving in from the West and rain is mentioned in the weather forecast.   The washing we left out last night is drying, and should be dry long before the rain arrives.    John had come in, in after his morning walk with the camera;  hopefully with a batch of photographs for me to play with!    Me? ....
