Overcast and breezy ....

27th September 2025 (Saturday)     11.00 .... Iain set off for home (Auchnagatt) at 06.30 and

arrived home just at 09.00.   He phoned at 09.11 to let me know he was back 'in residence' :  I was at Nan\a's Seat at that time.

Actually I've been a busy boy this morning.   Iain stripped the bed and I have most of the bedding on the line;  only the downie cover to do.   Although the sky is overcast there's a good drying breeze from the SSE.   Rain is forecast to arrive 'after my washing is dry'!

I was sorry to hear that Sir Ming Campbell had died:  Maggie and I liked him, he was a proper gentleman, and like a favourite teacher.   We delivered leaflets with him, the year he won North East Fife.

19.30    This has been a brilliant day for me;  the washing dried by mid afternoon, and it has been ironed.   There's on'y the downie cover to do tomorrow.   Rain moved in, as was forecast, about 17.30 and it's raining heavily now.   Everything has gone to plan today;  even the tubs are being watered as I type.   I'm 'happy boy', albeit a tired one, tonight.

Norwegian Star.
I enjoyed an early morning walk to Nana's Seat:  there was an interesting sky, a huge cruise liner (Norwegian Star) going up the Firth to Edinburgh, and quite a number of folk were out enjoying the early morning.

22.00    Iain and Jackie have a colony of Tree Sparrows living in their garden (Auchnagatt) and this has me thinking of our House Sparrows.   They have been in decline since the 1970's and are now on the  Red List.   They used to be common garden birds around here but have seriously declined here over the last 15 years or so.   The opposite has happened with Wood Pigeons;  they are now common garden birds (in spite of Triggers efforts to move them on).

Tomorrow will be taken up sorting out the wee room for 'JB', who will be arriving around about 11.00
on Monday.   The downie cover will be washed and ironed, but I'll leave that for 'JB' to pit together;  I'll manage the sheets and pillows.
We have a good weather forecast for tomorrow; 'sunny with a gentle breeze' .... a good drying day for the downie cover.
