Nice morning ....

14th September 2025 (Sunday)    07.45 .... It's a lovely, peaceful autumn morning .... sunny

with a light southerly breeze.   The early morning air is chilly but it well warm up when the sun gets going.  Rain is forecast to move in later in the afternoon and evening.

I'm going to visit Alice in the morning and so some shopping:  Ian is coming along in the afternoon for afternoon coffee and a chat.   Both Alice and Ian are going off tomorrow morning;  Alice and Izzy are going up to Aberdeenshire, and Ian is starting his journey South to Heathrow.    Ian is having a few stops on the way down, including a night at, picturesque 'Bourton on the Water' near Oxford.

21.00   I've had a busy day;  'annoying' Alice (I don't know how she puts up wi' me)  and doing some shopping in the morning,  then had an early lunch and afternoon coffee at 'Alice HQ', before heading home to Ivy, to get organised for Ian coming by to say 'Cheerio'.

I put the messages away, had a cuppa and got out the biccies and cake.   Meanwhile at 'The Stables' Ian was getting organised for me coming to say "Cheerio".    Back at 'Ivy' I decided to have a cuppa, and watch the TV until Ian arrived.   I fell sound asleep; and woke up three quarters of an hour later.   This called for a mug another cuppa,.... of coffee.  I'd loup intae the car (it was spittin' rain by this time) and go along to see if Ian had been at the door!   The phone rang;  it was Ian wondering if I was coming along.   I had a mouthful o' coffee then went to see Ian.   We had a nice chat about, 'The Ferry', Elie ;... and, would you believe it, the 'Just William' books.... not forgetting 'Jumble', Williams dog!   It has been a fascinating day.

Ian is leaving early tomorrow morning, making for his first overnight stop at Longtown, on his way

South, eventually finishing at Heathrow.   I'll miss him;  he has an amazing memory of Elie and Earlsferry when the Polish soldiers were here.  Hopefully he will get it all down on paper;   maybe even a book!

Today's photos were all taken around Uckfield (Sunny Sussex).   Uckfield is surrounded by nature reserves and amazing walks with loads of trees... especially Oak trees.   This was a walk down 'Memory Lane' for me.   Actually it was along Snatt's Road, Uckfield.
