Lovely morrrrrrning .....

25th March 2025 (Tuesday)     09.15 .... It's a nice morning, 'sunny with a gentle breeze (W)';  and

we have some fluffy clouds that make an interesting sky.    I'm taking advantage of it being a good washing day and have a washing going through the machine just now.    At the moment the air is cool but will be warmer once the sun is higher. ... but the wind chill factor could be annoying.

20.00   What I thought was going to be a straight forward, well planned day, turned into an eventful one.  All because of a power cut.   While having my after breakfast cuppa I decided I'd go to Leven to do a shopping;.... after I'd hung out the washing.    In the meantime, while waiting for the washing to go through I'd water the tubs.   Hey;  watering the flower tubs is a good thing by the way.   It's a 'job' that I have to do..... but not when it's raining!   Anyway I set about doing that (I use the 'hurdy gurdy' to transport the full watering can(s) from the outside tap to the patio) ... and actually enjoyed the feeling things relying on me doing a 'job'.    Half way through the watering I went to put the kettle 'on' .... (watering tubs is thirsty work) and found out we had nae electricity.  Of course that meant the washing machine had stopped.... and I had to use a pan to get boiling water!    I must do most of my thinking when having cuppas;.... because I came up with an amended 'plan'.   I'd wait to see if the electricity would come on again by midday:  in the meantime I'd finish watering the tubs.   

When I finished the watering (about 11.30)  I went in to boil up another pan of water;  but found the washing machine rumbling away:  the only problem was that it seemed to have started from the beginning again!   The planned shopping trip was cancelled for today, and I'd have lunch, then hang out the washing.   By this time it was 15.4C;  perfect for 'mature' people biking.   I'd have a afternoon siesta then go up to Chapel Green and  enjoy the warm sunshine.    There was a breeze but it wasn't too cauld;  and I was dressed for biking. 

The beach was busy, which wasn't surprising considering the warm sunny weather.   There wasn't much happening on the water;  I saw only one vessel;  a fishing boat way out near the Bass.

Yes;   I did remember to hang out the washing, and it dried quickly.   I might even iron it when watching the tele.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and f...

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...
