21st March 2025 (Friday) "Happy Birthday to Iain" who can start using his Bus Pass today!
08.20 .... "Sunny intervals with a fresh ESE wind" is the weather forecast: at the moment we have the
wind with a fleeting glimpse of the sun now and again. Just now we have low cloud and mist that the wind has brought in from the North Sea; which we hope the sun will burn off to give us long sunny intervals. Until then it will feel cool on the beach or golf course. The air should be warmer in the afternoon... but the onshore wind will be cold! I don't think I'll be biking today.19.30 I have been a lazy boy today! I went out in the car to deliver piece's of cake to Kirsty, Myra and Jacqui; at that time the weather looked reasonably promising and it wasn't that cauld. Anyway I did my deliveries, then went back to Ivy and had a cup o' coffee and a piece of cake! What else!
After my morning coffee I thought about doing some work outside.... but that plan was rapidly put back on the shelf when I realised that the wind had freshened, the cloud was thicker and it was bitterly cauld. Needles to say I haven't been out again; even going out to the bin upset the auld tubes.
I thought 'ironing is a warm job' so I did that: then started to watch a film, but fell asleep. I woke up feeling guilty so watered some of the tubs; it was bitterly cold even out there.... and haven't ventured further than the bucket (sometimes bin) since.
22.45 Heathrow Airport having to be 'Closed' to traffic, because of a 'power outage' at an electricity sub station, has been the main 'News' all day. For a while it looked like Russia was behind it; but the Police don't think fold play has anything to do with it now. When I first read about sabotage being a possible cause I immediately thought of the Ferry Road sub station! .... and all the trouble we had with it! I then thought .... "no, Russia has probably never even heard of Earlsferry".... so, thankfully, I'll be able to sleep soundly! It's a worrisome World we live in!
This has not been a good day for asthmatics; hopefully tomorrow will be better. It really has been one
of those 'don't go out at all' days. The weather is still going to be coming in from the North Sea tomorrow; much the same as today only wetter! The Victoria Sponge birthday cake was a lovely surprise from the girls. It's very tasty, and reminded me of the 'good old days': when I made triple decker Victoria Sponge birthday cakes for Jimmy's and my birthdays, in March and October!
