Bonnie morning ....

18th March 2025 (Tuesday)     08.00 .... We have wall to wall sunshine just now, with a light

breeze;  a perfect Spring morning, but cool after an early frost.   The forecast is good for today so I've got the last of the bedding in the machine.   That will be hang out.... then, after breakfast, I'll go go to Methil to visit Alice, and Leven for shopping.  

21.30    I've had a quiet day.   Went to Alice'a then down to Leven (Sainsbury's to do a shopping;  including some bulbs for the patio tubs.   When we came out of Sainsbury's to back to Alice's, we both noticed that it was colder;  the wind had freshened and was  from the Southeast.   Actually by the time I left Methil it was bitterly cold.   I came home with some tubs that Alice had... including a big one.   Jackie probably told me what I should get to plant in a big tub;  but I'll need reminding.    I had intended planting out a couple of small tubs ,but it was far too cold by this time;  even at the back of Ivy which is well sheltered.   In the end I made a cuppa and had an afternoon siesta. 

Because it was so cauld I didn't go out with the camera today;  it's much warmer browsing the Alberto Archive.... and interesting!    Today's'photos were all taken in 2012.   Tomorrow is forecast to be another bonnie but cold day.  However Thursday and Friday are supposed to be warm days .... but it all depends on the direction and strength of the wind as to how warm it will be on the beach!

I'm hoping the patio will be warm so that I can plant out a couple of small tubs.

23.15    I've been watching the astronauts come back to Mother Earth from the International Space Station.   It was a relief seeing the big chutes deploy and open, to give them a 'soft' landing in a nice calm sea off Florida.

 It's a crude way of landing back on Earth compared to Dan Dare, Digby and

Professor Jocelyn Peabody of the 'Eagle' comic days! (1950 - 1969).   Oh ...  it would be remiss of me not to mention their 'evil' enemy the Mekon!

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and f...

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...
