Thick Fog .....

24th April 2026 (Friday)     08.30 .....  we have thick fog just now but that should clear by midday. 

We should end up with wall to wall sunshine later!   The main problem is not with the weather this morning;  there's serious lack of water pressure.    I've done the vital job of filling up a jug and a couple of bottles to keep the kettle topped up.    Oh ... and there's a 'Very High' pollen count for KY9;  it's the hay fever season!   

20.00    The fog cleared away after morning coffee to give us a lovely, sunny and warm, Spring day.     That said, the light breeze was off the North sea so it would be cooler on the beach.   

Iain arrived about 14.00 and caught me lounging in 'The Hutte';   I wasn't quite asleep.   Since then we've caught up with each other's News, and made a 'plan' for tomorrow.    I need a new 'oover, so we'll get one tomorrow, plus get some food that Iain can eat. The water is still 'off'. but  has been repaired and is scheduled to come back on at 20.00.    The dishes are in the washer;  all we need is water.   I have plenty to keep the the kettle filled! .....  and a couple of bottles of drinking water.   We're happy.

Iain brought my new phone down, but the card in my old phone doesn't fit, so we need a new card.   At the moment I can use it as a mini computer, but not as a phone.   Iain is going to organise the new card and bring it the next time he comes down.
23.30   Late bedtime tonight, after an busy day.   Probably 'sleep in' tomorrow morning.   The water is back to normal, so no shortage of cuppas tomorrow!

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

Windy and wet .....

4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...
