Overcast and damp ....
9th April 2026 (Thursday) 09.30 .... It's cloudy and damp just now, but nut gloomy; it's a good
morning to work on the computer; and make a start on my drawing. It's cooler this morning, but not cold; probably about where the temperature should be at this time of year. The last couple of days have been unseasonably warm; especially down south in Sunny Sussex. What's next?.... I think I'll have a wander up to 'The Hutte', with a fresh mug o' coffee, and make a plan for my 'today'.19.15 The sky cleared in the afternoon, and we now have a lovely, albeit cold, evening.
What did I do today? I set about sketching, from notes and measurements I took in 2014, a plan type drawing of the Old Pier. The drawing is 'to Scale'; of the measurements I took then. The width of the pier is perfect but the length could be a yard or so out. I stepped the length measurement; I never expected the remains of old pier to be destroyed; I could have measured it accurately if necessary. Anyway, I am happy with today's effort, and I don't think it's far out for length because it disappeared under the sand!
Now that I know what I'm doing, and have the pier in my head, I'll do another drawing tomorrow.! The 'plan' is to draw a few sketches from different viewpoints, then write it all up and put in on'The Hutte'. I've enjoyed myself today. That said I'm hoping that the Fie Archaeologist took measurements and can produce a proper drawing: I'm no Archaeologist! But I enjoy drawing historical stuff!
