Sunny and warm ....

Image
12th August 2025 (Tuesday)     09.15 .... I don't have to say that it's going to be hot today;  it Sheffield Park - Sussex. already 18.5C (shade).   We have am absolutely beautiful morning, sunny and warm with only a breath of a breeze;  perfect day for beach.    Low tide is at 11.15 so there will be a big beach in the middle of the day.  I'd go down to Nana's Seat but it's going to be too hot for me:  I might get 'The Buggy' out if the streets aren't too busy;  but I suspect we will have day trippers on a day lovely like this.   Anyway, let's enjoy this less intense Scottish version, of the  heat wave they are having to put up with down in 'Sunny Sussex' and the South East.     11.00   I've just seen on the News that there's 'Heat Health' warning out for the whole of England;  different coloured warnings for different areas.   That means it's going to be hot and humid her...

Nice morning ....

11th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45    We had some light rain overnight, but that is moving away and the clouds breaking up, to give us sunny intervals with light breeze .... so it will be hot in the afternoon.   I'm thinkin' I might have to water the tubs;  it looks like the overnight rain wasn't enough. 20.15    It has been a nice day.   I did some gardening, including watering the tubs, and began cutting back Maggie's ivy.   Cutting back the Ivy is not my favourite job, so there's usually a number of 'cuppa breaks' involved.   All that was before the heat of the afternoon.   When I went out after lunch the air felt hot;  luckily I'd done most of the work in the morning, so abandoned the'work' plan, and went back into Ivy;  where I watched the 'News' and catnapped.    It's going to be warm for the next few days;  they may end up as 'computer' days.    22.00...

10th August 2025 (Sunday)     09.30 .... Low tide is at 10.07 so there will be a big beach for most  of the afternoon.   High tide is at 16.35.   It's a lovely 'sunny with a moderate breeze' morning;  actually there's a touch of autumn in the early morning air but will soon warm up.   It will be hot in the afternoon.   I have some small 'patio jobs' to finish, so that's going to keep me happy, until it's too hot to stay outside.   I haven't been anywhere yet but might try to reach the seat at the 17th sometime today. 21.00   I've had a productive day;  i.e. I finally managed to fit a handle onto 'The Buggies HQ' door.   A job I've been meaning to do for about a week.   At the moment I'm at the computer, and looking out at  lovely rain clouds, that I hope are going to water the tubs.    Light rain is forecast overnight.  I didn't get up to the seat 17th green...

Breezy with showers ....

Image
9th August 2025 (Saturday)     09.30 .... There are showers around just now, but they are forecast to move away to leave us with a 'bright and breezy' day.   We've just had a light shower but I don't think we've had enough rain to water the tubs, though we might get another shower, or two, before they clear away to the SE.   The wind is going to freshen to 'quite frisky' level by midday; "strong winds and sunny intervals" being the forecast for KY9.   The wind will be 'very  frisky' around midday the start to moderate in the afternoon. 20.00    It has been a breezy day, but the showers missed us and the woollen wash I did, dried perfectly.   It was a good day for that. I managed short walk up to the phone box.... but, it was too windy to go further.  I set off, planning to go as far as the seat at the 17th green.    The golf course was busy, and there was a lot of people out walking.   It has ...

Nice morning .....

8th August 2025 (Friday)     08.45 ....  There's a nice, fresh, autumnal breeze just now.    In fact it' going to be windy  all day, with the chance of of showers in the morning.   It will be warm in the afternoon, albeit with a cooling breeze.    At the moment it looks like the tubs are about to be watered!  The Fife Weather West facing cams are showing shower clouds, but they should clear away by midday. 20.30    As planned I went to Methil to visit Alice and do some shopping.   I actually enjoyed driving today,  but the road was quiet on the way to Leven:  except for a hold up in Lundin Links where a broken down vehicle was being loaded onto a breakdown truck.   Police were directing the traffic so the hold up wan't lengthy. After a cuppa at Alice HQ we went shopping, then back to HQ for an excellent lunch, home made Gammon and egg pie.... followed by a lemon pie for dessert.  ...

7th August 2025 (Thursday)    09.30 ....It's a bright and breezy morning;  and I'm feeling "bright and breezy" too!   There's a low chance of a light shower in the morning:  actually when I think about it the light rain that was supposed to water the tubs never made an appearance!    That's a disappointment. I don't  want light showers now, but, it would be useful if one did come our way.  Low and behold!..... a light shower has appeared right on cue!     I'm a happy boy.  l'll hang the washing out after the tubs have been watered! 11.00   The tubs have been watered and the washing is on the line;  the next mission is to get the buggy battery on charge.   I can do that inside it's wee 'garage', without worrying about it being hit by rain. An occasional light shower might come our way, though I don't need one now. The top photograph is of the Wellington motorway (NZ).   'M' and I wer...

Lovely autumnal morning ....

6th August 2025 (Wednesday)     11.30 .... If I had a schedule planned for today I am well behind it;  I slept in.   Didn't get up till 08.50 (which is late for me);  but have nearly caught up with where I wanted to be at 08.00!    Anyway it's a lovely, fresh morning, with a nice autumnal air out of the Northwest at present.   The amended plan is to have a couple of lazy days.... just 'falling apart' and relaxing.   Might even get 'The Buggy' (maybe even the bike) out in the afternoon.   It's actually quite breezy (F3) just now, so there's a wee bit of wind chill; because of the wind direction. 14.30   Although breezy it's starting to feel hot. ... as I found out while pottering around on the patio.  I'm going to have a cuppa, then contemplate going 'roond the Ferry' on 'The Buggy'.  Havin' said that, I'll probably fall asleep havin' the cuppa!   Oh .... I made up the double bed so ...

Lovely morning ....

5th August 2025 (Tuesday)    08.45 .... We have a 'bright and breezy' morning (not as breezy as  it  was yesterday) a perfect morning for pottering about.   Although there's an touch of autumn in the early morning air it should be warm in the afternoon.... albeit with a cooling breeze.   My main objective today is to make an overdue appointment to have my hair cut!  17.00  I feel much better now that I've had a haircut;  in fact I feel almost playful.   There was at queue at Barnett's the Baker, so, though I took a photo of Lorraine's (the Hairdresser) I didn't use it because of the queue.   I'll get one when the villages are quiet. Anyway I had my haircut then came home by way of Balbuthie and Kinneuchar.   Balbuthie Farm 'making hay while the sun shines' so I stopped and got a batch of action photies.   Further on I came across a field of cattle with calves, so stopped and got a batch of 'pa...

Windy and wet .....

Image
4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...

Overcast and wet ....

3rd August 2025 (Sunday)     09.00 .... We have a dreich start to the morning , but the sky is brightening up from the West:  the rain should clear away by morrrrrrrrrning coffee time, to give us a sunny and warm afternoon. I've been talking to 'M' (Margaret) in New Zealand this morning.   'M's daughter Linda organised the phone call so that we could 'catch up'.   'M' is still active, but, like me, has problems walking.   She still manages to go to the Club to play 'Housie' and, though limited actively, there's no limit on happiness.    It was great hearing her again.  Unfortunately she doesn't do the computer now, so that's a bit of a bummer.  That was an exciting start to a rather gloomy morning.    23.0    I've had another day pottering around Ivy;  so not very much of (interest) to report.   It has been a day of ironing sheets, pillow cases and a downie cover, then putting them ...

Lovely morning ....

2nd August 2025 (Saturday)     08.15 .... We have a beautiful start, to what is forecast to be a sunny and warm day;  perfect holiday weather.    And a good day for me pottering around Ivy.   Actually I might get the bike out and go up to Chapel Green later;  but that depends on how busy the roads are.  This is a change over day. 20.15    It has been  a really bonnie, sunny and warm, day;  in fact too hot in the afternoon for me.   However I made good use of the perfect weather, and did all the bedding.... washed, dried but not yet ironed.   That will be done after this update.   Of course with having done all that, and a good bit of 'ousework I haven't been further than the front gate.   Actually there was an interesting set of flags I could see on the 'Glenfuir' flagpole:  The Swiss, USA and St Patrick's Cross.   I didn't go down to get a photo of them;  ...

Low cloud ....

1st August 2025 (Friday)     07.45 .... This is not 'iggzactly' the weather that I wanted this morning, but at least the rain moved away overnight;  and the forecast is ''good'.... being "sunny intervals with a light breeze".   I have towels going through the machine, and would like to have a friskier breeze to dry them!    At present the breeze is from the NW, veering to the SE in the afternoon;  with a touch of  autumn in the air. 08.45   According to the calendar, this is a Bank Holiday weekend (Monday) in Scotland and the ROI (Republic of Ireland);  so this could be a busy weekend.   Especially if the weather is fine.    I've already been busy today, with the first batch of washing on the line:  and waiting for the 'sunny intervals' to arrive, to give us a good 'drying day' (at the moment it's not quite at the 'drying day' stage). 19.00   The towels dried, even though it didn't ...

31st July 2025 (Thursday)     07.15 .... It's a lovely morning, but light rain showers are mentioned Leven Station. in the weather forecast.   That means there could be interesting clouds.   At the moment everything is bright and beautiful.   Janice and Michael are organised for the journey south;  me?.... I'm ready for a cuppa.   The train departs Leven at 09.15;   time for two cuppas. 21.30    Michael and Janice are back home in ' Sunn .... Wet Sussex':  as it is here.   When we got to Leven this morning there was a train at the platform but it began to move off as they started to walk up to the platform.   It was an earlier train than they were booked on so only meant an annoying 20 minute wait for the next train.   I left Michael and Janice at the Station ,and went  to Methil to annoy Alice; where we had a cuppa and caught up with each other's News..... before g...

30th July 2025 (Wednesday)    08.00 .... There's the cool, fresh feel of Autumn in the early morning air;   quite chilly in fact.   However, once the sun gets going, we're to get sunny intervals with a light SW breeze.... and hot in the afternoon.    Much the same weather as yesterday.   There's a big patch of blue sky moving in from the West, and give the sun a chance to warm up the patio! 19.30    It has been another bonnie, and busy day.   In the morning Michael and Janice went to 'The Store' to do some shopping;  and I began to tidy up the patio.   After lunch Michael put a string of solar lights  to light up the steps and patio;  they then went to Leven to buy a fancy plug to charge up a set of 'temporary' hearing aids that Michael bought, for me,to use, until I get my NHS ones in January.  Janice and Michael are off out for a walk round the village.   The are off home to ...

Nice morning ....

29th July 2025 (Tuesday)     08.30 .... There's a nice touch of autumn in the early morning air, but it will warm up quickly once the sun is higher.     "Sunny intervals with a moderate breeze" is the forecast, the breeze eventually coming form the Southeast.   It will be warm, maybe even hot in the afternoon.    Apart from going to 'The Ship' for lunch, I don't know what the 'plan' is re 'working'.   I have bits to 'touch up' with paint;  I'll do that. once the sun is up, and shining into the patio to dry the paint. 19.30    It has been a lovely day;  it was hot in the afternoon, but bearable.   We more or less finished off the mobility scooter 'shed', and ready to be moved into position.   One or two last minute bits to finish off but that can be done tomorrow. As planned we went to the 'Ship Inn' for lunch.   It was quiet at first, but became really busy by the time we were ...

Autumnal air ....

Image
28th July 2025 (Monday)     08.30   I went for a paper this morning, and was pleasantly surprised to find that we have a fresh,  autumnal feel to the early morning air;  but that will disappear once the sun gets going.   However we might lose the hot mauchless air that we've had in the afternoon for the past week or so.    Sunny intervals with a moderate breeze, and the low chance a light shower, is the forecast for KY9 today.   Could be a good painting day. 21.30    After the clouds cleared away and the 'autumnal air' warmed up, we had a gorgeous summer's day.   It was a brilliant day for painting (and doing a washing).   'The Troops' went along to Crail for to have a walk along a bit of the Coastal Path .... they ended up at Caiplie Caves (Coves locally).   While they were out I finished painting the individual parts of the shed, so that 'we' (mostly Michael and Janice) could star...

Overcast and wet ....

27th July 2025 (Sunday)    11.00 .... We've had a dreich start to Sunday, but the sky is showing Summer sunset - 2014. signs of breaking up:  the wet weather is forecast to move away, to leave us with, 'light rain showers and sunny spells' in the afternoon... and be warm and humid.   The sky is already starting to brighten!    Happy afternoon ahead!   However, the showers might hinder the plan to finish off the painting. 14.30   It's a nice, sunny and warm day now.  I might get the paint out after this update.   There are shower clouds around, but none of them are very threatening.   It's 21.5C,  so not as hot as yesterday, but it will be get hotter.    I will go into Ivy and the last Stage (21) of 'le Tour.   I've just discovered that the cycling is on (TV) at the same time as England Women play Spain in the Final of the Women's Euro's.   At the moment Michael and Janice ...

Nice morning ....

26th July 2025 (Saturday)     08.45 .... There's a lovely fresh breeze this morning, and some clouds that might give us the odd light shower.   Sunny intervals are mentioned in the weather forecast so it will probably be warm in the afternoon.   I'm hoping for a cooler air rather than the hot, 'mauchless'  air we've had for the past few afternoons.   I just have to stay in when it's like that.   Michael and Janice are going to St Andrews for the day. 16.30    It has been a nice day, but hot (and mauchless) sheltered from the breeze.  Lucky for me that we ('The Team')  cancelled going to the East Pier;  I'd have struggled to walk any distance in the heat.   In fact I'd have struggle to get up the stair at the East Pier.    And I've had a migraine too, so not one of my better days for doing things.  I managed to paint the individual pieces of the scooter shed (twice), but that wa...

Cloudy .....

Image
25th July 2025 (Friday)    08.30 .... We have a cloudy sky this morning.... with the  occasional light shower .... but it's a nice peaceful kind of morning.   The light shower (we've only had one and it only lasted about five minutes) has upset my 'plan', which was to spend the day quietly, painting the individual bits of the scooter shed before assembly.    However,  I think the sky will clear to give us 'sunny spells' without light showers, so my 'plan' is only delayed for a wee while.   About the length of time it takes me to have breakfast and another cuppa.    17.45   Although breezy in the afternoon it was far too hot for me;  I abandoned the painting 'plan' and went in to watch Stage 19.... and fell sound asleep.   I woke up when Michael and Janice came back from 'The Ship'.   I then fell asleep again and missed the end of the Stage.   As far as the painting went?.... well, I...
