Lovely morning ....
30th April 2025 (Wednesday) 08.30 .... I didn't go out on the bike early because there's a nip
in the early morning air; so I decided to wait until the sun is higher, and the air warmer. I might have my morrrrrrrrrrning coffee up at Chapel Green; by that time the air should be warm. I'm hoping for 21C on the thermometer today: at the moment it's 11.9C.... but there's still a cool breeze from the SSW.11.45 I still haven't been biking, but it's a lovely morning and I've had morrrrrrrning coffee outside. And I discovered a a snag with that; insects seem to like coffee.... and end up in it.
There's lot of work going on around Ferry Road just now, and the local pair of Blue Tits have added to the building activity. I don't know where the nest is, but it isn't far away. The 'Tree Bumbles' are also active; in fact all the local wildlife is active. I'm starting to feel guilty; I'd better do something! Kettle 'on'. Fresh cuppa .... without insects!
16.00 This warm sunshine is more like what we need; let's hope we have a decent spell of this when Summer does arrive. In the meanwhile I'm enjoying this balmy and war ... hot Spring weather. It has been a lovely afternoon, and though hot, the air wasn't 'mauchless': but it was too hot for me going out on the bike. I enjoyed sitting under the parasol reading a book; a Quentin Jardine 'Bob Skinner' mystery. The 'plan' is to go up to Chapel Green in the early evening.... to keep the biking legs active. The temperature (shade) reached 22.8C; I'd got round to thinking we might reach 23C! It's to be slightly cooler tomorrow. Anyway I've had a relaxing, lazy day.... and enjoyed it!
20.00 After a day of 'wall to wall' warm sunshine I finished my day off biking up to Chapel Green. The village is quiet although someone was walking their dogs because I got a visit from the dogs! They had been swimming and looked like they might be going back for more. The light breeze had backed to the Southeast by this time, but, being only a breath of a breeze it wasn't cold.
It was very quiet and peaceful; I don't remember hearing anything at all.... apart from the patter of the dogs feet as they ran off!
22.30 "Sunny intervals with a moderate SW breeze"; and there's the chance of a shower. However it's to be mostly, 'bright and breezy', but colder. Hopefully the next warm spell will be longer! I'm going to get up early to go for a paper and look at the harbour; I haven't been up to Elie for a few days. I'll take the car because I need milk.
For some obscure reason when I was sitting out in the warm sun, I got round to thinking of my National
Service time at GHQ MELF (Cyprus). National Service was, to me, a sort of working holiday at the tax payers expense. I enjoyed it then and enjoyed the reminiscing this afternoon. That reminds me; I wrote essay about my National Service: now I'm wondering if I can find it; I'd like to read it!
