Cloudy and damp ....
26th April 2025 (Saturday .... 08.30 .... A light, southeasterly breeze, has brought in low cloud and
drizzle from the North Sea, so although a quiet and peaceful morning, the dampness is disappointing. But 'it's an ill wind etc' .... I won't have to water the tubs today. If the brighter patches in the sky means anything we could get sunny spells in the afternoon. I'm going to have a 'rest day'. The funeral of Pope Francis is today, and on television: that might my viewing for a good part of today.16.00 The hectic day I had yesterday has certainly had me resting today; I did some ooverin' and dustin' sat down with a cuppa to watch the funeral of Pope Francis. I watched most of the service at St Peters, and all of the journey from St Peters to St Mary Major. Considering that it was civilians, and not military trained personnel, moving the coffin it was all well done. I read the Order of Service before sitting down in front of the tele, so knew what was coming. Anyway Pope Francis is now in his chosen 'resting place'; St Mary Major and not St Peter's. St Mary Major will be a 'must visit' place in Rome. Mind you Rome is full of 'must visit' places. Maggie and I never visited Italy; unfortunately Maggie's 'nae weelness' was diagnosed not long after after we'd been to Holland and Austria.
It looks like we are going to have a bonnie evening, after a mostly quiet but grey day. Actually Ferry Road has been quieter than usual for a Saturday. Even 'Blob' has been quiet!
I was taking the top photo of the Welsh poppy when the Bumble queen paid a visit. She fell out of it because she was too heavy! The photo on the left is the one I was trying to take!
20.15 This has definitely been a'#rest day for me; I never went further than the gate. I don't know what is in the air by my asthma has been really bad. The blue inhaler has been used more than usual. I see that the wind is veering slowly towards the West direction so I'm hoping for a better day tomorrow. I was in need of a rest day today anyway, after the flap I had yesterday.
Being, more or less confined to barracks I looked for something to watch on the TV in the afternoon,
and was lucky enough to find a documentary called 'New Zealand Scenic Railways. This episode was the line from Picton to Christchurch, on South Island. The main road follows the railway, along the coast, a 'M' and drove over that road on the way back to Nelson.Sunny intervals with a moderate Southwesterly breeze is our weather for tomorrow: the wind, being from the Westerly direction, should mean a better day for me. I don't have a plan for tomorrow; everything depends of the weather.
