Cloudy and warm .....

16th June 2024 (Sunday)     09.00 .... There's a lot of cloud around giving us occasional spells of


light rain .... but it's warm, with only a light breeze.   A nice enough morning;  a pity about the rain showers  .... however Sunny spells' are forecast for later in the afternoon   We're going to Morrison's (St Andrews) to do some shopping and have lunch in the Café.  The Sainsbury's Café (Leven) was popular but replaced by Argos.... hence the change to St Andrews this morning.  Maggie and I used to do most of our shopping in Morrison's because of the Café:  she was looking forward to the Sainsbury's Café (Leven) opening, but sadly died before that happened.


19.39    The 'Master Plan' for the day was to do the shopping in Morrison' (St Andrews):  so we ended up at Sainsbury's (Kirkcaldy).   The reason for the change?    I need a new carrier bag for the bike, as the zip broke on present one, so the bag is near enough useless.  Halfords (where I bought the bag I have on the bike just now) still have the same model of bag, only smaller, and more expensive so I didn't bother.  They obviously put invertors before customers!   'JB' went online and ordered .a bigger and cheaper one online.

We went to Sainsbury's and did a 'heavy' shopping so that I don't have to carry it when  Ferry Road is 'Closed' for essential repairs for the next two weeks.  I will be able to do my local shopping with the bike.... and the new bag.
The sun is breaking through now, after a mostly wet day;  with some really heavy showers in the afternoon.  The roads were very wet, but most drivers were being sensible in the prevailing conditions.  There was one idiot travelling ... well like an idiot;  but there's always one.   We expect that nowadays.

'JB' is going back home tomorrow;  and I'm going to miss him.   We  (I helped as much as I could) did a lot of work... the most obvious being painting the front of Ivy.   I am really happy about that being done as it was beginning to depress me.   John (JB) has been doing the driving and I have been taking

photographs from the car.   Most of the photographs I've been uploading over the past few days  have been taken by 'JB' using my camera.
We have an early start tomorrow morning.   John's train (London) departs Kirkcaldy at 09.47:  we'll leave in plenty of time because of the ongoing roadworks in Upper Largo.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
