Another bonnie morning .....

2nd June 2024 (Sunday)    08.00 .... We have a beautiful  morning;  there's a light breeze with

Alice's Clematis.

some fluffy clouds, but it's mostly warm and sunny.... a 'play day'.   I'm going to Leven to do some shopping .... need to top up the 'Emergency Rations' for 'JB.... and annoy Alice.   I thought my legs would feel stiff after yesterday's run on the bike but they're fine:  I'll go biking later in the afternoon, to discharge the battery and  charge it;  then have another longer run tomorrow.  

19.15   This has been a busy but enjoyable day.   Alice and I went to Leven to do the shopping.  Our visit to the shops coincided with the departure of the first train from Leven Station.   The nearest we got was seeing the helicopter filming this important event,  and hearing the train depart;  we were in the Supermarket car park. I bought a parasol for the 'romantic corner table at B & M's plus a few food items, before moving across to Sainsbury's to finish our shopping.  My morning had started with a migraine, so I was .... well... 'sluggish' is the best way to describe how I was feeling, and was glad to get back to Alice's and have a cuppa.  Alice then went to make lunch, and I went into 'rest' mode.


We had a lovely lunch (Alice spoils me) including my favourite sweet.... 'Eton Mess'.   Alice makes an Eton mess to rival Bill's Restaurant in Lewes (Sunny Sussex).   This was followed by after lunch coffee before I setoff for home.

I don't think I have ever Leven Prom as busy as it was today;  it was mobbed with people wandering along... enjoying the afternoon sunshine.   There wasn't very much else for them to enjoy.... apart from a small 'showground' for the younger folk.   I'm assuming that a lot of the folk would have arrived from Edinburgh etc on the incoming trains: I'm thinkin' that Leven will have to improve facilities for visitors.   Anyway it was great seeing the Prom so busy. 

Back at Ivy I put the messages away, made a cuppa, took a couple of pills, switched on the tele... and promptly fell fast asleep for just over an hour.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
