16th September 2022 (Friday)      21.00 .... I have been a busy boy today... although I didn’t feel ‘in the mood’ to be busy when I got up.  However I did some ‘ousework and, and in the process, found the perfect place to hang Alice’s bead picture of ‘Blob’.    ‘He’ is now hanging in the middle of the family photos;  let’s face it.... he is ‘family’.  The present ‘Blob’ will be the 19 th at least.  ‘Blob the First’ appeared in 1963 when Maggie and I came back, from Edinburgh, to live permanently in ‘The Ferry’. After doing the ’ousework I went to Elie to meet Alice off the 10.30 bus;   only thing was she was on the 11.30 one (as we’d arranged the previous evening).    Being a bonnie morning, instead of going back home I went to ‘arbour ‘ouse to buy a morning coffee;   well.... would you believe it Laura was being assisted by none other than Brenda....who I haven’t seen since the early days of the COVID p...

15th September 2022 (Thursday)      09.30 .... There’s real touch of Autumn in the air this morning.... but that only adds to what is a cracker o’ a mornin’.   I’ve been for the paper, and to the harbour (in the car), where I met Carole, out for her morning walk:  we chatted about the villages.... even Alan was mentioned (regarding flags).  It’s all good at Elie and the harbour;  just the Ferry to check later in the morning.... when the air is warmer ‘cos I’ll be on the bike.    17.30    I was working on the computer when I heard a helicopter flying extremely low, in fact is sounded like it was going to land.    I grabbed a camera and rushed (like hare walking) out to Ferry Road;   it was low and going in to land on the ‘Pony Field’.    I presume it was a party o’ golfers coming to play round the golf course.    I thought ... ‘Albert my boy you haven’t got a photo of an Augusta heli...

14th September 2022 (Wednesday)      08.30 .... This is a 'stay in' afternoon as the boiler is being serviced;   ‘play time’ will be after this update.    It’s a nice morning but is noticeably cooler (garden thermometer showing 10C) as the breeze is from the NNW;   there’s definitely an autumnal feel to the air.   10.00     It’s a bonnie day, and I enjoyed a turn out on the bike.     I might go out again after the boiler is serviced, but that will depend on when the boiler is done and dusted.    I didn’t go far when out on the bike;   only as far as Chapel Green, then through the golf course and along Grange Road.     I really fancied going for a longer run but there’s no way I could chance that;   I’d forget about the boiler... and that could be done anytime between midday and 16.00. 21.30    The boiler service engineer arrived about 15....

13th September 2022 (Tuesday)      07.30 ....It’s bright and sunny, with a wall to wall ‘bloo’ sky and a light breeze from the WNW;  a crackin’ start to what is going to be a bonnie day... and warm in the afternoon.   I’m going out on the bike after another cuppa. 08.30     I’ve had a cuppa but have decided to let the sun warm the air up a bit;   I’ll do some ‘ousework   before venturing out on the bike;   and have breakfast.    It’s a beautiful morning but the air is cool. People have been paying their respects to HM The Queen right through the night at St Giles’ Cathedral; I did think of going but it would have been a struggle for me getting up from Waverley Station ... especially if my asthma kicked in, which it most likely would have done with the city traffic.    She was an especial lady was our Queen.   Yesterday I said that I’d probably watch less of the coverage when the coffin went...

12th September 2022 (Monday)      07.30 .... we have a bonnie Photo courtesy BBC TV. morning,  though everything is wet after overnight rain:   it was raining at 04.30 but all is good now.    I am expecting a good drying day  and intend taking advantage of that;  I’ll have a quick bumble round the villages....  once the washing is on the line;  I’m thinkin’ it could be warm in the afternoon, even with a frisky breeze from the West. 21.30     It was warm in the afternoon; too warm for me being active, but I managed to empty the shelves in the boiler cupboard, ready for the boiler being serviced on Wednesday afternoon.    The remainder of the afternoon I watched HM The Queen being moved from Holyrood Palace to St Giles Cathedral.... and the service that followed.     There’s much sadness around the country;   it’s surprising just how emotional this can be... even watching i...

11th September 2022 (Sunday)      21.00 .... I had an absolutely brilliant morning for my ‘paper run’ .... and I remembered the paper.  It was one of those balmy mornings with a hint of autumn in the air, and everything was quiet and still.   I stopped at the ‘Paper Shop’ before going to the harbour so that I wouldn’t forget the paper.   I took a whole load o’ photographs of the villages from my usual viewpoints... plus a few others.   Although the subject(s) are the more or less always same;  however, no two photos are ever the same.... ‘cos the ‘light’ is always different.... and I like looking at them.   Iain decided to ‘rake off’ early so that he would be well up the road when he met   HM The Queen’s cortege on its way to Edinburgh.    He stopped at a lay-by but had to wait half an hour before the convoy started to appear;   and he got a few photos ... which I have yet to see.    I...

  10th September 2022 (Saturday)     09.00 ....It’s a lovely , bright and sunny, autumnal morning.    I haven’t been out on the bike, but Iain and I are going to Falkland Palace (NTS) for a change of scene.    The forecast is good for the whole day... in fact it could be warm in the afternoon. 20.30    Iain and I had a brilliant day for going to Falkland Palace;   I actually found it too warm inside, but a rest in the Chapel (Jim and I recorded the Chapel about 10 years ago) revived me and soon cooled off in the passageway with the tapestries on the wall.    We’ve been to Falkland Palace before but find something new on each visit. On the way to the garden we passed through the shop where we bought a much needed ice cream;   I really enjoyed that.    Iain went off to take photos of the garden while sat and thought about how important Falkland Palace had been in Scottish history.    One of the...
