Overcast and damp ....

Image
31st May 2025 (Saturday)    08.30 .... it's dull and damp (light rain) at the moment, but sunny intervals are forecast so it should brighten up soon;  with the chance of showers so I don't have to worry about the tubs needin' wattered.   The furthest I have been this morning is the gate, but I'll go up to the golf course once the sunny intervals arrive. 14.30    I've been a busy boy:  but enjoyably 'busy' nane o' that 'work' stuff.   I was browsing the visible world from the gate, when I saw a group of golfers crossing the road that included Chris and Barbara.   I thought (something I'm not guilty of) "if I get the bike oot I could a few photos at the fifth green and sixth tee".    I promptly forgot about the mug o' coffee I'd just made;  got the bike out, grabbed the camera (and a banana), and eventually got myself on the move.    The bike battery only had two bars showing, so I certainly wasn't going...

Nice morrrrrning .....

30th May 2025 (Friday)     08.45 .... It's a lovely morning, but there's a lot of clouds just now, some of them looking like potential showers.  The clouds are travelling fairly fast in the fresh breeze so if there are any any showers, they  will be short ones.    We had a warm night (11.9C being the lowest reading overnight) and it's 16.9C now:  it looks like being a pleasantly warm day.    20.30     It has been a bonnie day;  and  showers never came our way.    I went up to the golf course for a short daunder, and ended up speaking to Ken for a while.   He was busy watering the flo'ers. Irene?.... she was playing golf with Moira and some more girls.   They play the 'wee course' on a Friday morrrrrrrrrrrrrrning. It has been a nice days for playing golf, and the course was busy.   The GHC (Golf House Club) is celebrating the 150th Anniversary this year, as is The Thistle'....

Light rain ....

29th May 2025 (Thursday)     08.15 .... At the moment we have an overcast sky with a light breeze and light rain;  not a bonnie start to the day.   However the rain is going to move away, to be replaced with sunny intervals and frisky wind by midday.   It's a good shopping morning:  I don't know whether to try the 'Store' (Ainster), or go to Leven, where I know the shelves will be well stocked.   I'll have an early morning coffee. 13.00    The heavy drizzle has moved away, and we now have 'sunny intervals'with a frisky wind.... and it's warm.   I'm having a sandwich lunch as I type this, and will have a cuppa outside after the update. The shopping expedition went well, but it's not the same shopping on my own.   (Alice is on a day trip to Arbroath  with two of her friends).   As expected the roads were busy going to, and coming home from Leven.  The shop was busy with auld  mat...

Nice morning ....

28th May 2025 (Wednesday)     08.45 .... There's a moderate breeze from the West bringing a fresh feeling air this morning;  with pollen for the hay fever sufferers;  and rain later in the afternoon.    I didn't wake up until 07.45 so missed the early start I had planned, and I haven't got round to thinking of what I want to do;  but have put the a washing on.   I've had breakfast, now I'm ready for my first cuppa of the day.   Sleepin' in is a bit of a bummer. 14.30    I went up for the paper in the morning... and completely forgot about the paper:  it was an good morning for the camera and I was thinking 'Harbour' when I reached Elie.   It's good job I wasn't thinking Sunny Sussex!   Anyway I eventually reached the harbour, having stopped at the Toft on the way down.    I'd intended stopping at the 'paper shop' on the way home, but was thinking Kinneuchar by this time, and came ho...

Sunny with a fresh breeze....

Image
27th May 2025 (Tuesday)      08.15 ....After the overnight rain we have a really nice, fresh start to the day;  sunny, with a moderate Westerly breeze,  and a near enough 'wall to wall' blue sky.... though, I have no doubt that clouds will meander across from the West.   There's the chance of showers in the early afternoon. Me? .... I'm feeling almost 'bright eyed and bushy tailed'  and might get the bike out in the afternoon .... if the wind quietens down a bit.   I'm visiting Alice in the morning, and having lunch at the Wellesley Kirk Community Centre with Alice's grandson Lucas, so 'slight flap on'!   Right now I need another cuppa. 19.00   It's a lovely day, albeit breezy, and warm considering the fresh wind.    I enjoyed my time in Methil with Alice and Lucas.  Lunch at the Community Centre was excellent,  but it was really quiet.   Tuesday is a change of day for us;  we norma...

Lovely morning ....

26th May 2025 (Monday)    09.15 .... We have a lovely sunny morning, with a moderate and chilly breeze, bringing a lot of fluffy clouds from the NW.    A nice fresh morning with a good chance of squally showers as the day goes on.   I won't be going out on the bike.   The plan is to potter around Ivy most of the day:  I have an ironing to do, and there's always some 'ousework needing done.   Housework, in fact all 'work', is harder to do, and takes longer to do nowadays. 15.00    I had a wander down to the High Street, and even thought about going as far as the beach, but it was too windy... and, with the continual threat of squally showers.   I louped into the car and went back to Ivy to have morrrrrrrrrning coffee.   There's another shower coming over just now;  another cuppa or an ice cream cone.   I'll have the cone. 19.00    Kirsty brought a 'Talking Book' tape round, as I...

Bright and breezy ....

25th May 2025 (Sunday)     08.15 ....There's a frisky wind (F4 - 5 NW) and wind chill this morning, but reasonably warm when the sun isn't behind a cloud.    I don't think the bike will be out until later in the afternoon;  if at all.  My morning began with a migraine, which is a bit of a bummer, because it's a nice morning to out with the camera:  the pills, that I have just taken, should have me 'playful' by lunchtime.  It's a good drying day. so I'll do a washing.... and have numerous cuppas. 13.45   You can see the 'Glenfuir' Union Flag is flying at full stretch, so it's windy;  F5 - 6 in fact.   And it's cold.   I'm having a cuppa and intend going to go up to Balcarres in the car;   but that depends on how I feel after the cuppa.   I'm trying to shake off the migraine;  actually, I'll take another couple o' pills and go to Balcarres later.  Probably in the early evening....

Nice morning ....

24th May 2025 (Saturday)    08.45 .... We have a bright morning after the overnight rain;  in fact it's a pleasant start to the holiday weekend;  the forecast is 'breezy with sunshine and showers'.   The sun is breaking to give us a day of  'sunny intervals and showers'.   Plan for today? ....I'm looking forward to  a 'rest day', and enjoying of one of the  sunny intervals  having morning coffee at the patio table. 11.45    Although breezy it's warm (19.8) and I enjoyed 'morrrrrrrning coffee outside.   So far, the showers have passed by, but the threat is still there.   Actually, if the wind drops later I might get the bike out because it isn't a chilly wind.   I can see the 'Glenfuir' Union Flag almost fully stretched so that is a frisky breeze (F3 - 4).   Actually I'll have a walk down to Ferry Corner to take a few photographs. 20.00    I've had a quiet day;  t...

Lovely morning ....

23rd May 2025 (Friday)    08.30 .... The early morning cloud is rapidly being burnt back, and we should  have a lovely sunny (and warm)  day by morning coffee time:   I'm have morning coffee at 09.00!   I haven't been further than the pavement so far.   I might try to go to the beach, as the air is breathable .... with the pollution level being 'Low' just now.   I imagine the traffic will build up in the afternoon.   Must 'go' .... 'slight flap on';  got to have early morning coffee!  16.45    I had a walk up to the golf course in the middle of the day;  as you can see from the photographs the course is in need of rain.  This Spring has been a dry one so far, but that's due to break tonight with much needed rain coming  in.   That reminds me.   Which clever boy watered patio flower tubs about half an hour ago?  This clever 'boy'.  You wonder why?.... in ...

Cloudless sky.

Image
22nd May 2025 (Thursday)     08,30 .... We have a cloudless sky, with a cool NE wind this morning;  and there's a nice fresh feel to the air.  Having said that, if the wind  freshens it will feel cold out in the open.   This is the Spring Bank Holiday weekend  (Bank holiday on Monday) so I have no doubt the villages will be busy, even though (much needed) rain is forecast.  19.45    I enjoyed my shopping expedition with Alice.... only went to Sainsbury's.   Shopping expedition?   That reminds me I bought Iced lollies.   I'll have one after this  'short' update.   That's it.   The 'update' i.e.    I'll be back in ten minutes or so:  depends on how warm it is outside sitting in the evening sunshine. 20.00   The lolly was refreshing but it was just too chilly to sit outside, so had it while watching a bit o' "Last of the Summer Wine".   Afte...

21st May 2025  (Wednesday)    08.00 .... There's a lot of breaking cloud about just now, but the  forecast is good..."sunny with an Easterly breeze"....  so, another nice day ahead.   I should get biking sometime today.    I had a short walk up to the phone box, and found it was pleasantly warm;  however the breeze is negligible just now, but is forecast to freshen by lunch time. Lovely, peaceful kind of start to the day. 20.30 .... It has been a lovely sunny day, but my word it has been chilly.  The breeze from the ENE had a feel  of the Arctic about it.   I never got further than the pavement, because the cold air was highly disagreeable with the auld tubes.   But the day wasn't wasted!   The bathroom mirror I bought the other day, has  been hung:  not the hardest of jobs, but something that I have been meaning to do for a long time.   The photograph shows the new mirror refle...

Peaceful morning ....

20th May 2025 (Tuesday)     08.30 .... At the moment we have a layer of low cloud;  but the sun will burn the cloud off, to give us a warm sunny day.   The breeze is from the SW just now but will back to the SE in the afternoon.    I need to buy a bathroom mirror when I'm in Leven today.   The mirror I have in the bathroom is hidden by a 'Blue Fern':  and the 'Blue Fern' likes where it is!   I'll take photographs after the new mirror is 'on site'. 17.00   It has been a lovely sunny day... and warm it's warm....19.9C in the shade.    After a cuppa at Alice's we went to B & M's to get a mirror for the bathroom... and eventually found one.  It's one big shop is B & M's.  On the way home we went to the Wellesley Kirk Community Centre for lunch.    The Wellesley Community Centre is popular, as is the Charity shop in the Hall next door, which we had a browse round before going to ...

Lovely morning .....

19th May 2025 (Monday)     08.15 .... The cold damp air of last night has moved away, and we have, at the moment, a lovely, fresh sunny morning, with a cool breeze from the ENE:  however, there's a bank of threatening looking cloud moving in from the North Sea.... and there's a chance of showers in the middle of the day.   I might not have to water the tubs this evening!    After yesterday's day of activity, I'm going have a quiet day pottering around Ivy;  but must go to Elie to hand in my prescription sometime today.  11.45   I combined my 'prescription handing in mission' with a visit to the Harbour:  then discovered that the  visit to the harbour wasn't my best idea, because the Fife Highways workmen were clearing the sand from the road to the harbour.    However (I must be feeling patient this morning) I persisted and got to the harbour and back out again.   Coming out I was following the swe...

18th May 2025 (Sunday)    09.00 .... Another sunny and cloudless morning, with a cool, but light (just now), Easterly breeze.  I am feeling frisky, but haven't been out on the bike yet.   I've had breakfast so  won't go out for an hour or so; I'll see how frisky I am... and, probably more importantly, how frisky the breeze is at the time. 11.45   The wind has freshened, and  changed direction, replacing 'Wall to Wall' blue sky with light cloud/haar, being blown in from the North Sea.   And it's chilly.  Nae bikin' this evening.... unless the wind changes direction again! I'm ready for lunch (East Pier St Monans);  Kirsty booked an inside table so the cauld breeze won't bother us.  That said it all depends on where Kirsty can get parked.   There's parking adjacent to the 'East Pier' so we could get lucky, and not have to walk very far.    Charleton Golf Pavilion. 19.30    Our Sunday lunch ...

17th May 2025 (Saturday)     07.45 .... we have another lovely morrrrrrrning.... so 'we' (Royal Burgh 'we') have a 'slight 'flap on' at the moment..... I'm having a cuppa before going out on the bike.    14.30    It was brilliant being out on the bike;  hardly and wind.... and it was warm.   I went to Chapel Green, where I stopped at Jim's seat then Maggie's (did some 'ooverin' when I got back to Ivy).  Chapel Green was quiet, I was the only one up there.   The golf course was beginning to get busy, the first group of players I saw were  on the 7th.   At that time the light breeze was from the SW and the air was comfortably warm.  As there was hardly any breeze I left Chapel Green and went up to the Pony Field.   It's usually breezy up there but it was calm, and warm, this morning.   Since then the breeze has freshened,  gone the the East, with a chilly feel to it.   ...

16th May 2025 (Friday)     08.15 .... We have another, beautiful sunny morning;  there is a light, cool breeze from NE;  which will freshen later and feel chillier, but it won't spoil another lovely day.  I'm feeling frisky this morning and might get the bike out in the afternoon; but that depends on how the breeze develops.  I've had breakfast, now I need an 'early morning coffee'. 17.45    I've been busy today.   While having my 'early morning' coffee I decided that I'd go to 'The Store' in Ainster and do a weekend shopping.  Then I remembered that they were having serious problems after being cyber attacked.   They expect to be nearly back to normal after this weekend;  but I decided to go to Leven because I know the shelves will have everything I want.   You will be impressed with today's shopping:  I bought proper hot weather food!.... a 2 litre tub of Ice Cream (Mackies) and a packet of ice ...

15th May 2025 Thursday)    08.45 .... No cloud this morning.... just wall to wall sunshine.  There is a light Easterly breeze so it will be warmer inland than it is at the coast.   Hopefully the haar will stay out at sea.  I must go up to Balcarres sometime this week.... this weather is forecast for the next few days.   I'm feeling fine this morning, but I did have a headache at 15.30.   However I went back to bed and woke up, feeling 'almost frisky', at 07.00.   19.30   It has been another sunny and warm day;  though the has been a cool onshore breeze.   It was hot at Dysart, a real summer like day.   The COVID booster I had yesterday hasn't bothered me, though I am very tired now.   But let's start at the beginning.   I arrived at Alice's to find the house full of girl neighbours wishing  Alice "Happy Birthday" etc.   With me being a shy boy, Karen found m...

Low cloud .....

Image
14th May 2025 (Wednesday)     08.45 .... It's chilly with low cloud, with an Easterly breeze just now: but the low cloud is showing signs of breaking up to give us the sunny day that's forecast.   However the Easterly breeze  means it will be cool on the East Coast.... with the chance of haar in the afternoon.    The place to be?.... inland from the East Coast.   The main 'mission' for me today is going to Anstruther to have my COVID booster jab. 12.30   I've been for the paper taken a few photographs, visited Harbour House to see how everyone was.   Brenda's hair is a nice shade of red!.... both girls (Brenda and Laura) looking lovely; and Laura was trying to do stuff on the phone, while someone was chattering away in the background .... foreground.   Naughty boy!   I didn't have a coffee as I'd had one before going out.    20.30    There were a few folk from Elie and Earlsfer...

Low cloud ....

Image
13th May 2025 (Tuesday)    08.45 .... Today's weather is going to be a repeat of yesterdays;  early  low cloud breaking up to give us a warm sunny day.   The cool Easterly breeze will be bothersome on the beach.   Funnily enough, it's warm just now.... but there is hardly and breeze, and the breeze might freshen later.   It's a quiet morning;  even the workmen at No 3 aren't using their hammers.   I have two young blackbirds moochin' at the back door;  Blob will have to share his McVities Digestive biscuits:  he will not be a happy boy! 19.15   This has been a busy day for ;The Boy'.   As intended I went up to Lorraine's to make an appointment to get my hair cut.  An appointment was made for 11.40.   As it was foggy I decided to go down to the harbour to see how it looked... and to get a few photos.   On the way up from the harbour I stopped at the Toft to take i...
