Grey and damp .....

8th October 2024 (Tuesday)     09.00 .... It's disappointing to waken up to an overcast and damp

morning, especially after the lovely 'Indian Summer' afternoon we had yesterday.;  but not surprising because it was forecast!    We can expect heavy rain, with a moderate NE breeze today, followed by drizzle and a gale o' wind tomorrow!     Scotland's weather is, if nothing else, varied!   It's a good day for drawing and working on the computer;  and look for something interesting to watch on the tele.   I'm feeling positive; we might have a few brighter spells.

12.15     The lassie from Glenrothes has been, and was really helpful.   She is a lovely lady and I enjoyed chatting to her, but  I was mistaken in thinking that the double yellow lines were being removed from Ferry Road.   That means that things stay as they are (i.e. the lines 'active during June, July and August) and I will still be able to park outside Ivy Cottage in the three busy summer months... so I don't need a parking space.   I can still use the 'Disabled' space at the 'Toon Hall'  if necessary!.... but I struggle carrying a bag of messages that distance.   

20.00    I've had a lazy day;  I never got going at all really.    Oh I did bits and pieces of housework  and chatted to the workmen working on the Ferry Road sub station.   I'm blaming the weather;  it has been a bleak day, a huge disappointment after yesterday afternoon.   The 'brighter spells' I hoped for never arrived;  in fact the weather has deteriorated and it's now windy and wet.    There's to be heavy rain with a fresh wind overnight, and, with the wind being from the NE it will be cold. 

There is one piece of news;  I'm getting my car back tomorrow.   Kathryn is bringing it along (a sort of test run) round about lunch time.   I'll probably go to Leven shopping, but that depends on when I actually get it back.

21.00    I finished reading my bedtime book last night;  would you believe it....'Robinson Crusoe'.  It's been many years since I read that one.  I have yet to pick one to start tonight.

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Overcast with light rain .....

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
