Cold NE wind .....

1st October 2024 (Tuesday)    09.30 .... This mature person won't be straying far from the door

today.  Why?..... because we have a frisky, and cold, NE wind!   However, sunny intervals are forecast with the chance of showers by morning coffee time, but always going to feel cold out in the open;  trust me to feel playful on a day that I can't go out.   Never mind, I'll make good progress on the computer, sorting out Folders of photographs;  that's always interesting.

20.30    It has been a nice day, in fact I meant to do a washing but forgot about that;  tomorrow is forecast to be bonnier.... and a good drying day.   Today has been a stay in and warm day;  mostly working on the computer.  One of the Folders I found was the one I made when Jackie and I biked from Backhill of Inkhorn to Newmachar via the 'Buchan Way', the old railway line from Aberdeen to Fraserburgh converted to a biking walking Way..    I remember travelling, by train, from Newmachar to Fraserburgh for our annual school outing.   Sorting out the photograph Folders is going to take a long time.....but it's awfie enjoyable.

As it's going to be bonnier tomorrow I'll do the washing I meant to do today, and maybe even take the 'hurdy gurdy' for a turn up Ferry Road.   My friend Ian will have settled back into his nice warm Australian weather again.   I'll drop him an e-mail later to find out how his journey home was.

22.00  Although the weather is going to be slightly  better tomorrow the wind is still from the NE;  not the healthiest of wind directions.   I intend wrapping up and going for a short walk, because I need the exercise..... but I can't go too far as Iain ordered a set o' 'exercise pedals' and I'm not sure when they will turn up.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and f...

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...
