Very damp .....

23rd May 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... After a night of rain, the sky is still overcast, with spells of


heavy(ish) rain, so not a morning for the bike.   At times the sky looks promising but only fleetingly;  at least it isn't raining all the time.... and the pollen count is low.   This could be a good day to go shopping, or work on the computer.   

09.30    I've had a wander out to the garden, and come to the conclusion that it's too wet to go up to Elie (in the car).... but I might, after I have an early 'morrrrrrrrrrning coffee.   There is much dreichness this morning so I won't be havin' the coffee outside.


15.30   It hasn't been a day for going out but I eventually decided to go up to the 'Paper Shop' and Barnett's the Baker.  That reminds me I bought a couple o' scones and I'm having a cuppa:  a scone wi' Strawberry jam would be very tasty.   Back in '5'.   I'm back;  with a brown scone and spread with honey.   Yes ... it is tasty.   Now where was I?   Oh aye:  I've been watching Paula Vennels (former CEO of The Post Office) being questioned  at the Post Office Inquiry. I've heard  the saying 'the buck stops here' many times! .... and always wondered where the 'buck' started from.   Oh.... I have done some work on the computer, but mostly this has been a 'rest day'.


17.45   It looks like Saturday will be the next 'sunny' day; and probably the next one when I go biking.  Tomorrow is going to be wet in the morrrrrrrning, with sunny spells moving across in the afternoon.   I have to admit that I am not a fan of this damp weather.   Luckily the weather is going to improve for the weekend... which is a Bank Holiday weekend so we can expect Elie and Earlsferry to be busy. 

21.30   Well it has not been the best of weather today but tomorrow is going to be brighter.  The TV News Channels will be taken over by 'honest and truthful' politicians, telling us how good their Party is, and how bad the others are.  The Party Leaders are already at it:  Ye Gods....six long weeks of repetitive bilge.  
'Nae plan' for tomorrow morrrrrrrrning;  but I might go out when the sunny spells arrive around midday.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
