Misty and damp....

19th May 2024 (Sunday)    08.45 .... Everything is wet after a night of heavy mist.... and it's still


misty and damp.   I can't work up any enthusiasm for this kind of morning;  however, the sun will eventually burn the mist off; I'm enthusiastic about that ....but it might take a while.   West is the place to be this morrrrning.   

19.00   The sun didn't really get going until 14.00;  not only did it make me feel brighter,  the temperature went up a couple of degrees!.... but it was never really warm exposed to the cold Easterly wind.   I said the 'West' was the place to be so West I went;  all the way to Methil to visit Alice.    Methil felt slightly warmer than Ferry Road did... but not much.  For some reason Alice does 'happy' most of the time... and 'happy' is contagious.   We had a cuppa  then Alan (Alice's son in law) arrived on his bike, so we had another cuppa and a good old natter.   Alan went off to do some shopping in Leven, and Alice produced a lunch that she had prepared earlier.... a very tasty Chicken Chasseur, followed by a favourite sweet....a 'nae calorie' 'Eton Mess'.   That girl spoils me.  We then had a mug o' coffee before I set off for home, after a relaxing few hours.  

I've had ' a sandwich 'dinner', now I'm wondering if I could manage a hirple to the beach.  I'll see how I feel after another cuppa.   


20.30   I've been to the beach.... I'll now have the cuppa that I meant to have before going to the beach.  It's nice evening but the East wind clobbered my breathing so I never got further than  Nana's seat.   I should have thought about that before I went.  Anyway I enjoyed the wee bit exercise, but it was hard work coming home.  I'm going to have that cuppa now!

Pittenweem swimming pool....

20th September 2017 (Wednesday) ... 13.30    When I went along to Elie for the papers this morning, I got slightly diverted and ended up along at the old Pittenweem tidal swimming pool.  Pittenweem  swimming pool.    Unfortunately we have a, mostly overcast, with occasional spits and spots of rain, morning.     I must go back on a ‘bright and  sunny’ morning... this will show up the different colours of the sandstone rocks etc better.    It is an interesting spot, and would have been busy in the 1930’s , 40’s and 50’s.        20.30     My day has been spent pottering around Ivy... including baking a batch of wholemeal scones.    Note to self .... I must remember to freeze some of them this time;  rather than feed them to Blob and his pals.     It has been a grey and sometimes damp day;  not a day for bumbling about outside.    The ‘cold’ that I had last night didn’t come to anything.... Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa

Quiet morning ....

 5th October 2023 (Thursday)     09.30.... The crock pot has been fired up with a batch o’ Scotch Broth, George’s bucket has been put out for tomorrow morning....I have had breakfast, and now on my third cuppa of the morning; hoping for a stress free day.   The past two days were not stress free. Yesterday began really well.... I got the car insurance sorted, and was   settling down to check FB.    I saw a photograph captioned ‘Seal on a floe .... or was it?’   Being inquisitive I ‘clicked’ on it;   and that   was it .... flashing warnings all over the computer screen.     I’d been hacked.   A small window appeared purporting to be from Microsoft Security so I clicked on that and got an 0800 number to phone;    which I did and was answered by an Indian.     That’s when I should have pulled the plug on the computer.    However, h e as very   plausible so I began to follow his instructions for a few minutes... then  began to get suspicious;   especially when he began to insist that I
