Nice morning ....

1st July 2026 (Wednesday)     10.00 .... There's light cloud, with sunny spells at KY9.  However, and

this is good news;  light showers are to be with us most of the day.    That's the flower tubs taken care of.... we have a 'Happy Boy' at Ivy!   I'm going to do the ironing after this update, have morning coffee, then take a trip to the bottle bank at Woodhaven.    I thought there might be a bottle bank at Sainsbury's, but there isn't.

21.00    It has been a strange day for me;  I was busy until midday.   After midday I completely ran out of steam.    I'd done most of the ironing in the morning, and will do two sheets  still to do, after this update.

I had organised my day round watching the England v DR Congo World Cup game on BBC1!   After the kick off I decided to pit the kettle 'on' and make myself a late afternoon coffee.   I missed the first goal!  It was 1 - 0 to DR Congo when I got back in front of the TV.    England won 2 - 1 in the end  but they had to work for the win.    It's good seeing, the lesser known football playing Nations, give the 'Big Names' a fright!

The rain that I wanted didn't arrive until later in the afternoon;  by which time I was thinking I'd have to get the watering cans in action.    However the rain is here, and it's perfect;  light and steady, like a watering can!    This kind of rain let's me off watering the flowers for at least a couple of days.

22.30    Tomorrow I have to go to the Skeith Centre in Anstruther;  and I'll use the Bottle Bank at The Store.  The bottles clinking in the car boot every time I go over a bad bit of road, is annoying.   And there are a lot of bad bits on our roads nowadays.

As you can see my Spear Thistle is starting to flower;  and it is a bonnie flower.   Every year I have a
single Spear Thistle, and always in a different corner of the garden.   This year it's at the back door, so will be photographed regularly over the next few weeks.

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

Windy and wet .....

4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...
