Wet and windy .....

3rd February 2026 (Tuesday)    10.30 ..... We have a wet, windy, and cold (3.9C) morning!    I

have no doubt the villages, and the East Neuk, will look bonnie, even in this weather;  but I don't intend going out to admire the local scenery.   The first thing I noticed, when I went out to feed 'Blob' at 07.30, was the drop in temperature.   It's 'stay in and stay warm' day for me.

18.40    Today's weather has been of the 'damp' kind;  and tomorrow is going to be, more of the same.

I went out in the car in the middle of the afternoon;  in fact the top photo was taken from the car just before I set off.   The car is pointing North do I went to Kinneuchar, then home by Elie and Earlsferry.   Apart from the work sites, all was quiet.

What did I do today?     Not very much really.    I did a wee bit o' tidying up in the kitchen;  sort of de - man caved it.  Luckily for me, kitchens are where the kettles are kept, so the de man - caving didn't last long.

I don't watch the TV  much in the afternoon because I usually fall asleep, but today I found a programme about the WWII:  Pt 1 of 4 about the war in the Far East;  the surrender of Singapore, and the Burma railway.    My Uncle Lewis  (Gordon Highlanders) was captured at Singapore, as was a painter friend of mine Jock Millar (Royal Artillery).    Jock would sometimes chat to us about 'the Railway', when we were having our morning cuppa on the building sites.  Both Uncle Lewis and Jock came home from the Far East on the SS Corfu.

The original 'plan' for today was to go to Methil to 'annoy' Alice, but that was cancelled when I saw the weather and the weather forecast.   I'll go to Methil on Thursday;  Alice and takes one off her 'Special Needs' friends  to an Activities Club on Wednesday morning.

I don't know what I'll do tomorrow;  the weather dictates what I do, and the colder air is not  agreeable to my going out, unless it's in the car.

Bottom Photograph _ The Kinneuchar Kirk Beadle (Bertie Gorrie's Grandad) lived in this cottage.   Every time I pass the cottage, I always think of the big vegetable garden  he had;  and that cottages had in the 'good old days'.
