Nice morning ....
18th February 2026 (Wednesday) 10.15 .... We have a mix of light cloud and sunny spells,
with a chilly SE wind this morning: but, it's actually a nice morning considering the time of year. I'll go up to Elie later and pick up my prescription, but it's not a good 'play day'; so too cauld for me to go down to the harbour. I'll stay in and warm. It's the Colinsburgh 'Friendship Lunch' today, but I'll miss that because of the cold weather. Must remember to phone Myra to let her know I won't be going.
20.00 The weather has been reasonable today; chilly right enough but not bad for this time of year: and it didn't rain. If it did I didn't notice it. I went to Elie (to pick up my prescription) in the afternoon. Elie appeared to be quiet; there wasn't a lot of folk wandering around.... but it wasn't the best kind of day for families being out. The tide was in, and the wind from the SE do the beach was not the place to be. That reminds me: the sea is relentless, and, the wind, being from the South East today, will drive the waves onto the already weakened wall. We need a change of wind direction .... or very light winds.
I've had another 'rest day'; my 'work for today was to take the car to Colinsburgh to fill her up with fuel. On the way up to the junction at Robin Gray's cottage ,I noticed the metal framework of a big building near Pitcorthie I'll find a place to park, and get some photographs the next time I'm up there. I might even get the bike out when the weather gets warmer.
Iain is coming down on Friday so I'll catch up with all his news. Iain, Jackie, Hazel and Sorley are just back from Dorset, having been there for Jackie's Dad's funeral.
21.45 The other day I mentioned buying a candle bulb for table lamp; which Alice got yesterday. Today I decided to put a bulb in the lamp and see how lovely the lamp looked. It didn't; I couldn't plug it in. Alice asked me if I'd taken the plastic bit off the plug pins! What plastic bit on "plug pins?" I asked. The lamp now works perfectly now! I had a letter from 'Govan the Optometrist' (Anstruther) the last week about my annual eye test! I'll phone them tomorrow! Right enough I wasn't wearing my specs when I tried to plug it in.... in two different sockets! I have good long sight, but need my specs for reading and close work! That's my excuse anyway! Oh... I'm a 'happy boy' now! And it's Horlick's time.
