Nice morning ....

22nd February 2026   Sunday)  10.00 .... It's a 'bright and breezy' morning;  and warm,

as long as you are sheltered from the wind.   Actually it's frisky old breeze so there is wind chill.   

Iain is cutting back Maggie's ivy 'bush'.    It is decorative ivy that she bought for the window boxes, and had an extra bit that she planted in the garden;  she didn't expect it go survive the first  winter, but it did.... and is thriving (unfortunately).   I think we might get rid of it altogether;   but it's where 'Blob' shelters in the winter.

19.15    It has been a nice sunny day.... but cold in the frisky, South Westerly breeze.  Colder than I expected it to be!     Iain set off for home (near Auchnagatt) after lunch;  having done some of the jobs I find hard to do, this morning.    he main job was cutting back the Ivy.

After Iain left, I put the kettle 'on' again and had another cuppa;  and watched Ice Hockey, and had a run out in the car, until the Rugby (France v Italy) came on.   I went up to Balcarres and took a few photos of the snowdrops etc.   At one time I'd have walked up to the Tower, but those days are past.  At this time of year anyway. 

I've been wondering what the new build is near the Pitcorthie Walled Garden.   Iain went into Fife Planning and found out:  it's an Agricultural Building.... a Grain Store.   When you think of the size of modern tractors and trailers etc. you can understand why old farm buildings are being converted to houses, and new Agricultural Buildings build to cope with the new tractors etc..

I've just been out at the bin and found that it is raining.    The light rain is to be with us all

night and 'on and off' tomorrow.... mixed with 'sunny spells'.   Might be a nice enough day.   I haven't a 'plan' for tomorrow;   I'm waiting to see how the weather is;  and how active I feel.

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

Windy and wet .....

4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...
