Light cloud ....
24th February 2026 (Tuesday) 4th Anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
10.00 .... We have light cloud with a moderate breeze from the SW; so, feeling positive, I have hung out
a washing. The breeze was negligible when I went out first this morning, but it has freshened a bit and I expect the washing should be near enough dry by the end of the day. Sometimes the sky looks like breaking up a bit to give us ''sunny spells'.16.30 I've been busy! My trip to the Surgery went as planned; and I met Jimmy's daughter June, whom I haven't seen for a while. June is looking well; she never seems to change, but she must be about 32 now! I didn't have long to wait before Laurie (Nurse) appeared, and did my blood test. I was in and out within 5 minutes.
As usual when I go to the Surgery, when I come out I take a run out to Woodhaven to get a few photographs. While I was doing this I heard a helicopter fire up. It was the Scottish Air Ambulance on the East Links. I then noticed two ambulances in the Woodhaven Car Park Car Park. I don't know if it was an accident or an exercise (I'm not much of a reporter am I?)..... but there were other people near where helicopter, and activity was, so we'll eventually find out.
I stopped at 'The Paper Shop' to get a few bits and pieces' on the way home. Iain told me that work had started at the sea damaged wall. Back at the car I could'n't find my camera; went back to the shop and to see if I'd lefty it there. I hadn't; Iain reminded me that I'd put in in the shopping bag with the messages! I am a 'silly boy'! From the 'Paper Shop' I came home by way of Balbuthie and Kinneuchar.
After lunch I decided to get 'The Buggy' out and have a run round 'The Ferry' . on the way round I met Gerry, busy working on a house in the Ferry High Street', and caught up with his news. I then went down to the beach and got photographs of the action at Chapel green House sea wall, then up to Chapel green for a browse, before bumbling home to Ivy. Oh.... I nearly forgot; my breathing has been AOK today.
22.00 We have a 'tired boy' in Ivy tonight; but this has been the most active day I've had in a long
time; which explains being tired. Apparently the casualty at Woodhaven Day was flown to Ninewells Hospital (Dundee). Thankfully our Ambulance Service, including the Air Ambulance, personnel are always there when needed. The war in Ukraine grinds on; it has lasted as long as the first World War, with the killing that's going on much like the trenches of WWI, with very little 'gain', and a huge loss of soldiers on both sides at the front line. Then there's the modern warfare drones; destroying vital infrastructure, and killing innocent civilians directly .... or indirectly by damaging the life support systems necessary to survival in winter. Intelligent people should be able to find a better way to settle this. My thoughts are with the innocent people of Ukraine (and Russia) who have suffered the loss of loved ones, in this war. Wars solve nothing; if they did we wouldn't have had WWII .... and now look like we're heading for WWIII.
