Light rain ....

10th February 2026 (Tuesday)      09.45 ..... We have a grey, breezy and damp;  with light rain

now and again.   Much of the UK has this weather;  some parts with Weather Warnings for heavy rain.   A couple of things I've noticed this morning;  Ferry Road isn't as quiet as I thought it was, and the clock in the kitchen actually ticks.   I wonder what the 'Hoover' sounds like?    This is going to be a tidy up day! 

16.00    I have has a good day in spite of it being dull and sometimes wet.   I've done some tidying up, sorting out the settings on the hearing aids, and watching the Olympics now and again.   That included  trying out the Hoover for noise!   It was noisy! .... so I decided to set the hearing aids to the volume that suited me best.   That involved reading the 'rools' to find out how to to the adjusting the volume  .... and other things with the same buttons.   Anyway I have adjusted the aids to what I think is the best volume setting; and even the Hoover is an acceptable noise level now.   

Tomorrow I must go  to the 'Paper Shop' and try the aids out on 'active service'.  I can't get over the difference they have made.   I had reached the point where I was embarrassed when meeting and chatting to anyone.   It was fine talking to 'Blob';  conversing with him is one sided.... I think.   I heard him chirping this morning, so maybe he has been 'talking' to me all the time.   I am profoundly deaf in the right ear, and badly deaf in the left, and should have gone for Hearing Aids a couple of years ago.   Or more.

'Team GB' didn't win a medal at the curling:  They were playing Italy for the Bronze Medal but, in the end, Italy deserved to win what had been a close match from the first end.   Spain and America play for the Gold and Silver Medals this evening.

I haven't been out today, and, having just seen the weather forecast for tomorrow the 'Paper Shop' will

be as far as I will go tomorrow.

Quiet morning ....

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

Windy and wet .....

4th August 2025 (Monday)    08.45 ....  It's breezy with light rain just now;  but the rain is going to move away and the wind freshen to 'gale', with sunny intervals and squally showers, by midday.   There could interesting clouds, and stormy seas.    I won't be going out on the bike!    High tide is at 11.20;  there will be an abundance of fresh air on the beach today.  11.00  The wind is freshening, from the SW, as can be seen in the photo of the 'Glenfuir' flags (Swiss, USA and Jersey).    Sunny intervals are starting to come over, so it's a bonnie enough day now, albeit breezy:  F5 - 6 with stronger gusts now and again. 19.30  It has certainly been a wild old day, but the wind is moderating, and tomorrow will be much quieter.   It was F8 - 9 at times out on the bay.   Which is why HMS Iron Duke (Type 23 frigate) is sheltering off Elie and Earlsferry.      HMS Iro...
