Overcast and wet ....

12th February 2025 (Wednesday)     08.45 .... we have a dreich morning here in Elie and

Earlsferry;  the forecast is "cloudy with a moderate breeze" to which we can add drizzle, because that's what we have just now.   It's not a morrrrrrning for doing the Coastal Path. It's not a morrrrrning for doing very much outside!   At the moment I'm having breakfast, after which the brain cell needs an early 'morning coffee'!

10.40     My word.... we have a brightening on the sky and 'bloo' bits have been spotted (and photographed)!    Could we have 'sunny spells' later?      The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky just now, but let's hope we get lucky and we do get sunny spells in the afternoon.

19.30    It has been a slightly brighter day, but we never had any 'sunny spells'.... and it continues cold!   I've had a  busy day.   I had things to do on the computer in the morning, made a phone appointment with my GP,  then went up to the shop for the paper.   When I got back to Ivy I had a cuppa, during the consuming of which I decided that I needed to go to Leven;  but that would be after the Doctor phoned.   And that was what I did!    The outcome of the phone call is an appointment with Dr Bowditch at the end of the month.  I might get a hearing aid!

I set off for Leven, going via Colinsburgh to get fuel.  We have roadworks at Robin Gray's cottage.   There's work being done to the former cottar houses at the other side of the road.   Those houses (cottar houses) had been converted into one house, and was the first 'job' I worked on, as an apprentice painter in March 1953.   Anyway there's scaffolding in place along the length of the property, hence the need for temporary traffic lights.   In 1953  the road was much quieter;   old fashioned buses (the ones with a wee cabin for the driver) were the most regular users of the road.    It was Route 355 (Leven to Newport on Tay) in those days.   (Where you caught the Ferry to Dundee).

22.30    I'm really tired tonight after my 'busy' day.   Tomorrow is a 'rest day'... and I don't have to bother about making food as we're having lunch at the 19th. .... so it will be a proper 'rest day'.   The weather is going to be 'more of the same';  perhaps slightly colder.

The bloke on the bike in the bottom photograph does a wheen o' biking.    I've seen him all around the East Neuk, and in the Howe o' Fife.   He seems to be out every day.   When I think of it,    I did the same, until just a few years ago.   He often comes down Ferry Road and I've always meant to speak to him to find out where he starts from.
