Bright and breezy ....

22nd February 2025 (Saturday)..... 08.45 .... It's cloudier than I expected it to be for a 'perfect' drying

Ferry Road lights back in action this morning!
day;  however the forecast is good ...."sunny with a fresh SW breeze" , and no mention of precipitation... . so perfect drying day it is!    And a good day for doing the Coastal walk:  for me that means the Chapel Green and lighthouse bits nowadays.  

09.30    It's a lovely morning;  slightly chillier than the warm air mentioned in the forecasts, but a good day for going 'out and about'.   I've hung out the washing and will now have an early morning coffee before going to Methil to visit Alice.

10.00   The ferry Road lights are back in action and, thanks to Chris, (who did a short reverse manoeuvre to activate the lights) I got the photo I wanted;  the light at 'Go'!

20.30   I've had a really good relaxing day;  I even enjoyed driving to and from Methil.   What I can't understand is;  when I'm travelling to Leven and Methil , the other side of the road is busy with  traffic heading for the East Neuk.   When I'm driving back to The Ferry, the other side of the rod is busy with traffic coming from the East Neuk!   Might there be a message for me in that activity I wonder?    Anyway I enjoyed my time with Alice, who is always positive and knows how to get me to relax.

Our Ferry Road traffic lights didn't last long:  the are out of action already!    I went for a very short walk up to the phone box to get a photo of the sunset;  which i did but it wasn't that dramatic.   And all those warm temperatures the weather forecasters are talking about seem to be missing us.   I've just been out at the gate and it feels really cold.   The forecast for tomorrow isn't very inspiring so I won't be going far.   Up to the 'paper shop' for the paper and that will probably be my exercise for the day.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and f...

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...
