Nice morrrrrrrrrrrrning ....
5th February 2025 (Wednesday) 08.30 .... "Sunny with a moderate breeze" is the weather I
have been waiting for; a good drying day! .... so the weekend washing is going through the machine as I type. It's a bonnie morning, and should feel warm in the sun, as long as you are sheltered from the cool North Westerly breeze.15.00 It's a lovely afternoon; but, my word, there's noticeable drop in the temperature. I went for the paper(s).... and to the Chemist in the morning: at that time, 10.00, the air felt warm and I even ventured down to the harbour. If I went to the harbour now I wouldn't leave the car.
When I left the harbour I intended going home by way of Balbuthie and Kinneuchar, but changed my mind and ended up at 'The Store' (Ainster). I didn't really need very much shopping but I wanted to get back into my routine. Storm Ewoyn had raised my stress levels a bit. However the weekend up at Jackie and Iain's with 'the troops' helped me relax. Contacting the roofer re the repairs also helped; as did the sunny weather today! And getting the washing done; plus some 'ousework: all that has boosted my morale.
Not being able to do anything about the wind damage made me suddenly realise how I depend on others to do jobs I once did myself! Thank you to Derek, Neil and Iain. "Growing old is easy" ... it's coming to terms and adjusting to it, that's the hard bit. Anyway I'm a 'happy boy' now!
I've been out to the pavement, and it is is bitterly cold exposed to the wind; but, I'm thinking of going out for short walk. I'll have a cuppa while planning the most "oot o' the wind'" route!
20.00 The wind had moderated a bit by the time I went out so it wasn't too cold; and I only went up to the phone box, across to the Thistle clubhouse and down to Rotten Row, so it was mostly sheltered anyway. An interesting wee walk. The weather for tomorrow is going to be much the same.... but it might be colder. I don't have a 'plan' for tomorrow. I did most of my shopping today, and I'll be inAnstruther on Friday (Skeith Centre) so I can pick up any messages I might need at the Store.
22.30 Work is going on apace at Flat No 3 across the road. The roof tiles have been taken off, so we should see some serious action there soon. There's been a lot of hammering and banging, but I can't see what's being hammered and banged.
Emily's Stocklinch (Somerset) honey, is starting to fix my voice box; the last bit to recover from the sair throat I had before Christmas.
