Lovely morning ....

1st February 2025 (Saturday - Auchnagatt)    09.15 .... we have a beautiful, sunny morning here. 
There has been an early frost, and there's a light breeze so it will be cool.   I haven't been out;  in fact I overslept (again) ... but I'll have a walk to the end of the driveway after breakfast.   I'm feeling almost 'bright eyed and bushy tailed';  but today is likely to be a less active day than Collieston!

12.15    I had a slow walk to the end of the driveway, and I can tell you it is cauld.   It's a lovely day but there's a frisky NW breeze taking  few degrees off what could be a nice, even warm, afternoon.


13.30    We have a change with our weather;  the sky is clouding over.   Rain isn't forecast, but we were enjoying the sun!   The Tree Sparrows have been using the feeders so I've been taking a few photos.  Which was fine when they were in the sun, but the cloud has spoiled that.   And I'm not going out again;  it's probably colder than it was earlier.

16.30    Jackie and I went to Maud for afternoon coffee in the Mart Cafe (on the site of the former Maud cattle market).   it's a nice , clean and tidy place for tea, coffee .... and goodies.  
They do meals too but it was quiet today;  it  wasn't the best day for people being out for a walk.   Anyway I asked the waitress if it was OK to take a photo, and she said "that was fine".  That's when I found out that I'd left the camera card in the card reader!   So nae photograph of the Old Mart Cafe!     I have photographs, taken a few years ago;  but I had been looking forward to updated ones.


20.00    Tree Sparrows are smaller, and more colourful than Common Sparrow and live in colony's.   I've seen the odd one now and again at Ivy, but Iain and Jackie have a colony of approximately 100 living in, and around  the front and back gardens.   

I have been busy today, 'playing' on the new laptop to get used to the change of system;  and I have
surprised myself at how quickly I have adapted.   Today's photographs have all been done the 'new' way. so I am happy.    I want to be confident with it before going home on Monday.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

Frisky wind ....

24th January 2025 (Friday)     08.45 .... It's a breezy old morning, so a lot of wind chill:  best to stay indoors and not far from the kettle switch.   The barometer is at 970 (and falling):  so not a day for pottering about outside.   The lights are starting to flicker now and again so I'd better get this uploaded just in case we have a power cut.  I have a gas cooker so can get hot water.... and hot food.  'Blob' has been fed .... now it's my turn.   'Slight Flap on' ;  I don't like this wind!   "Severe gales and heavy rain" is the forecast.... with the middle of the day (10.00 - 15.00) being the worst time for us.  11.15     We had a power cut from 10.00 to 10.30: which I thought I was well organised to cope with.... you know torch, matches etc.   Unfortunately my matches were slightly vintage (as you can see in the photo) and didn't work!   I went out to see if t...
