Overcast and wet .....

11th February 2025 (Tuesday)     09.15 .... We have grey and damp start to the day;  in fact I

Not today!
can't even say that we have an interesting sky.   That's how gloomy the weather is just now.   At the moment we have 'light rain' coming in from the North Sea;  however, all is not doom and gloom;  rain is due to stop about morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee' time.  And (another bit on vital information) ....the Fife Weather cams  are all showing an overcast sky;  the West coast would appear to be the place to be just now.     I'm hoping that the sky might be slightly brighter in the afternoon;  maybe even sunny spells, but the rain going moving away would almost feel like the sun was shining.   We're only a few thousand feet away from a sunny day.

11.00   I'm writing this while having 'morrrrrrrrrning coffee';  having had a fairly busy morning doing 'ousework' things.   It was still raining when I was oot at the bucket not long ago, so I'm unlikely to go out for 'exercise' until after lunch.  The next move is to open 'The Rabbit's Branes' (external hard drive;  I have seven of them , and they all have names), and find a sunny photo for 'today'.

16.30    As forecast the rain stopped in mid morning, which was good;  but it has been grey and cold,  and not a very nice day to be out.   I went up to the shops in the middle of the afternoon and Elie was very quiet at that time.   No wonder because it was not the kind of afternoon to be wandering about.   I went to 'The Deli' and 'Appleton's to get what I went out for;  took a few photos for the archive, and was glad to get back to back the warmth of  Ivy.


22.30    Well 'today' has been  a, more or less, typical day of weather for February; though I'd say it was colder than it should be.   It has certainly felt colder anytime I went out  this evening.   That was only as far as the bucket!    I've had a reasonably active day, and done most of the things I wanted to do;  but will be glad , as all of us will be, when Spring arrives.   

I have no 'plan for tomorrow.   Kirsty, Myra and I are going to the 19th for lunch on Thursday;  that
takes care of food for Thursday.   Tomorrow I'm roasting chicken fillets for dinner, with roast tautties and vegetables.    That usually takes me a wee while to get sorted;  and it's a warm job.    Tomorrow's weather is going to be much the same as it was today..... but with lighter cloud.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...
